Curiously, this is a far more coherent and sensible list of demands than that of Occupy Vancouver. I say let the motorcycle enthusiasts' club have their way - what's the worst that can happen?
We want to be free! We want to be free to do what we want to do! We want to be free to ride. And we want to be free to ride our machines without being hassled by The Man. And we want to get loaded. And we want to have a good time! And that’s what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna have a good time. We’re gonna have a party!
I have listened to this song for years and I always wondered where the opening section came from. When Fonda half looks round at his crew and says were gonna have a party, they all go mad, it’s hilarious!
Insane movie. Bruce Dern's character is called "Loser", he's a corpse for half the movie, the soundtrack by Davie Allan and the Arrows is probably the best original rock scores for a movie. Allan's guitar playing is awesome, the missing link between Link Wray and Jimi Hendrix, perhaps.
We will bud, and you keep rocking out to the Jonas Brothers, wearing your promise ring, oppressing gay and lesbian human beings who just want equality, turning women into baby factories for brainwashed sycophants for jesus, blowing up abortion clinics, forming militia groups, preaching fear and doomsday end of times nonsense, molesting children and hiding behind a cross, destroying things you don't understand, and killing in the name of God. We just want to party and be free, what a crime huh?
Oh God this monologue is so ridiculous and cheesy. How is that a convincing argument? "We wanna be free!" Ok, free to do what? "...to have...a good time..."
This movie is "way gone" cats! But I think this funeral shot of Blues telling the preacher what he and his gang is gonna do has to be one of my all-time favorite scenes in the history of film!!!!
This was dissapointing. Were bikers really like that in the '60 s? If so, then I must have lived my life in ignorance. I used to admire them but not anymore, cause of this film that "illuminated" me. Nothing good to say, u can hate me for that but hey, if u love this film than u r full of hate so I can't expect anything more than that.
Maybe it's one of them things where you just can't generalise... there's good and bad in everything. Some bikers are murderers, others will fix your car for nothing and some do a lot of charitable work. I don't think films are necessarily illuminating, they just imitate bits of life for the sake of entertainment. Lecture over!! Best wishes.
Hey, thanx for the info, I've just watched "Hell's Angels on Wheels" and I must say I found it better than this one. It's more...realistic! the ending is silly and a buzz kill (actually made me laugh) but fun to watch! NEXT on list: A Girl on a Motorcycle :D
It's a shame that people's real idea of freedom at the time (anti-racism, women's equality, anti-war/draft, worker's rights, liberty for the poor) was distilled into a sort of bland consumerism by the movie and television corporations back in the 1960's and early 1970's.
I have it on DVD. It's "over the top" and stereotypical. It's very entertaining but has absolutely no bearing in reality. Just a fun and stupid movie. Worth watching for the hell of it.
Great movie and this sceen says so much for us today. Man can we just live without all the regulations, and government taxation.

That's so funny, with the actors voices sounded like Side Show Mel back in those days. Thank goodness for Pacino, Dinero, Harvey Keitel.
