I am 28 years old. My parents bought real trees my entire life, and I plan to do the same. You miss out on all the fun and experiences of going to a tree farm to search for the perfect tree. Great video!
@musickkelly -- Most Real Trees are recycled after the holidays, during which they're chipped into mulch or placed into lakes/ponds for fishing habitats - they're not burned.
You can't be allergic to a conifer tree. But being outdoors for years in the field, a Christmas Tree can collect pollens, dust, mold or other allergens. Of course, so can the artificial tree stored in the attic or basement. Whether you use a fresh Christmas Tree from a farm, or an artificial tree stored in a box, if you have sensitive allergies you simply spray the tree down in the yard with a hose before putting up. Let it dry completely before putting in the stand and bringing indoors.
and as most trees are burned, after the holiday, do they not add to that carbon? my family has used the same artificial tree for over seven years, now. it was a "hand-me-over from a relative, so i'm not sure how many years it was used before we got it.
Dear Nature Conservancy, Im a supporter of buying Real. But one arguement for buying real, is how the trees sequester Carbon from the atmosphere. However, isnt it true that once the tree is cut down, it releases all the carbon back into the atmosphere? What are your thoughts on that?

We're on our tenth year of using a fake tree, which we purchased when I discovered how very allergic I am to the real ones.
