It'sok, but the thing with metal is it's soul lies in the double bass rolls. A constant roll doesn't constitute metal. Metal is extremely intricate, yet most often requires whatever energy you had. Also, continually alternating only toms would better portray metal, but such a roaring snare roll is more of a marching band thing. Bluntly, I find it rather insulting, as a metal drummer and jazz, that one would believe such mindless beating to be metal. Granted, two great parents ca have freak kids.
I've sen almost all your videos you're amazing!!!! love the improvised style you have..and btw I like how your set sounds..very vintage..kinda 60's...wich set do you use?
Very Buddy Rich. I like. I need to learn how to better myself on my right when it comes to playing traditional. I only just a couple months ago discovered jazz, thank you, Dave Weckl. That opened my eyes to more then rock. I then discovered Jojo Maer. Since ten I've been trying my hand at traditional. I've gotten much better then before, when I was just about making noise. I feel I'm ok at traditional. But my darn right hand. You've any tips for me? (open comment to all as well) d:)
More Jazz than metal. I do like the Joey Jordison snare (even though I'm a jazz man). Snare drum focus is very Kruper-esque. Add more jazz, take away some metal and you have winner.
i guess you hitting the floor toms really hard is the metla part lol. but that was a sweet solo dude. your snare sounds amazing and it looks like its a 6.5? you usually dont get that kid of crack out of snares that deep
Oh shit! Im a drummer too, but i almost got an orgasm when watching this... Keep it up... You are amazing... Are you in any band? Cos i thkink you should
I got 2 questions for ya... Have you ever tried tilting the snare down away from you how many traditional grip players reccommend? Are you into JoJo Mayer's work? BTW, you are amazingly sound in all aspects of drumming!
Thanks for the complement. The tilt of the snare is based on ones drumming technique.I set my snare left end slightly up with the back side slightly down to get a jazz rock feel.Yes I dig JoJo Mayers playing.
Metal meets Jazz? How about, chops and talent meets drums! Very nicely done. It's so refreshing to see someone who actually does more stickwork than footwork! 5 stars.
He have the stil from Buddy Rich, is amazing.

Nice work. I use more single strokes in my clips on here but you have a unique approach to those double strokes. Excellent!
