  • i dont really like that year of impalas.

  • Your truck sounds nice.

  • @aNINJApie Thanks, sorry for the late reply.

  • Impalas died in '96. That's just an under cover Lumina that may be respectably faster but they have as much class as a Ford Taurus.

My grandma drives an '05 'Impala'

  • @olmecbones Agreed.

  • is that really an ss? it didnt sound like it was. by the way your truck sounds pretty beast though

  • @trent1234108 Yeah, it is the 6 cyl with a supercharger on it, 3.8L engine. A week or two later I found out he works/ed at a local autoparts place near me. Him and his friends all have fast cars.

  • @Cardiak theres not a 6 cyl ss impala i dont think? is that what your saying? i assume its still pretty fast though. i have an 06 ss

  • @trent1234108 The 04/05 SS Imp came equipped with the 3.8 liter supercharged L67 V6 engine. Rated at 240 hp. The lightweight fwd sedan was actually quicker than the vaunted 90s SS Imp, with 0–60mph pushing 6.5 seconds compared to the earlier model's 7.1 second 0-60.

This was taken from the wikipedia page, some editing was done to shorten it, but the base idea is intact. That engine was used in a few cars

  • @Cardiak oh thats cool didnt know that. mine just hast a big 5.3L with a little under 6 sec 0-60. 300+hp

  • @Cardiak line em up an see

  • Whooo- my '95 SS would make it tough on you, partner.

  • i used to beat up on stock hemi rams in my 03 caddy dts 300hp northstar but i sold that and now i really beat up on hemi rams,srt8 jeeps,srt8chargers,300c, etc.. i bought a trailblazer ss and did sum mods to it. it runs good. nice truck tho keep modifying it it will be a real beast. sounds good too. i dont think this was a easy mark as these supercharged 3.8s are runners capable of 14 second times stock. good run but you will need the 4.56s and cutouts for the 06-09 impala ss's

  • @BLACKLACDTS Since this video I have an updated chip, 4,56's and open cutouts, next mod though is a stroker engine, racing trans, and new rear end.

I want atleast a 440 cid, but I am betting parts would be a pain to get, so I'll settle with a 392 or 426, the new 392 from dodge is pushing 500hp in the dragpack trim.

  • @Cardiak i bet it runs good. you would be suprised what that motor you have can do. a cam,6.1 intake do a stall in the trans about 3200rpms(circle d is good) head work, and it will be a fast truck. i know a guy with this combo and runs 12.4 on motor and 11.70 on small shot of nitrous.

  • So I have a 96 caprice wagon that will eat a vette and ask for seconds. then again the 2010 camaros will to in a straight line from the factory.

  • Woman or foreigner @ 1:04

  • racing in a truck? shouldn't you be pulling a trailer with that hemi?

  • @anteeboy I wanna be able to pull a trailer faster then the other guy bwahaha.

On a serious note, there are guys I know of running faster then Vettes in single cab pickups, so why not.

  • @Cardiak lmao i can dig it

  • @Cardiak hell yea there plenty of 12second hemi trucks and faster.

  • i thought those impalas were front wheel drive.? AND gutless. the mid 90's impalas had balls. and that truck has balls too. least it sounded like it did

  • @extracredit100 as of 11/10/2010, my truck is a little slower then the 4th gen (2002) SS camaro, but that problem will be fixed soon.

  • @marrark 05 QC 1500 Ram, stock engine, and tires. SCT chip, shorty headers, dual 2.5" exhaust and in this video I did not have the cutouts and rear end 4.56 gears yet.

  • Thats a pretty clean Impala!

  • IMPALAS FTW ... I have an 08 SI if only i could of got an impala ... car is the shit .. my boy has one and he drives it like a real impala that bitch gallops

  • was expecting a 96 ss but its all good. wouldnt wanna get macked on would ya

  • please correct me if im wrong but are you really racing a 3.8 liter v6 with a micro supercharger that only adds 40 horsepower? when i clicked on this i thought u were racing a modded impala ss like 1996 ish Lt1. haha thanks

  • Yea i thought it was at least 2006 Impala SS. Then at least he was racing an LT4

  • Houston!

See you out there one night bro

  • Interesting race... I am more of a get out on the highway type of guy i guess you could say.

  • It was spur of the moment, back then I typically didn't race on areas other then highways. Now I hardly ever race. Not worth what could happen. I don't even remember the last time I did a light to light.

  • lol ur racin a undercover detective

  • Nah it isn't him, I ran into some of his friends at an autoparts place. Apparently I am famous with his crew haha. Since only working the one job though I haven't been doing anything to my truck. Which equals to me being slower then he is now. He added a pulley and a cai. I think the only thing I have done to my truck since this has been my cats and the homebrew intake. Him > Me for the moment.

  • @Cardiak i'd race that hemi in my van lol

  • that would be the funniest thing iv seen all week man

  • Racing on the street? come people, grow up. joking, sometimes it's hard to resist.

  • Heh yeah it is hard to resist, I am doing better though, had a few people come up to my truck and buzz me, I resisted. I think I am actually becoming responsable or just getting old, meh.

  • ur deff gettin old cuz my dads 55 and he still races the little punks

  • Well I couldn't hold out, I ran a Mark LT truck. He tried, that was bout it though. Not bad for almost a month.

  • i see your from houston me to

  • hell ihave beaten an ss the same year with my 05 imp ls

  • Wow, you really smashed that Impala SS? You have mods on your truck? Was it that,a Dodge Ram?

  • In this video I had shorty headers, SCT chip, Fm 40's and 2.5" dual exhaust.

Now I have Shorty headers, high flow cats, e-cutouts, single chamber exhaust and 3" tips, 2.5" dual exhaust, and a Lowes/Home Depot air intake.

  • whats a lowes homedeopt air intake???

  • It is a home made intake, costs way less and is just as effective depending on what type of intake monitoring your computer does.

  • personally the 94-96SSs were where its at

  • i agree with you 100% on that one.

  • sure if you like slower Impala's....the 06+ SS is a low 14 second car, stock. Then again the LT1 has more mods available than the LS4 right now so it's not very hard to make the 94-96SS faster...And you can't beat the look of a B-Body!

That truck is a beast though Cardiak!

  • Bra trust me ur truck wouldn't have a chance against an Impala SS. I have a 04 SS Indy Edition an it is 2 fast. Truck wouldn't have a chance

  • dude his truck maybe not but te=here are some sick ass trucks that nothing can pull like flacos truck look for it bro

  • 1) If you had done any research at all before shooting off your mouth you have seen that a truck with my mods runs about 14ish in the 1/4 @ 89-93 mph, looking at the video it shows I had allready reached that speed. Granted it was from a roll. I could have continued on and he wouldn't have pulled on me. You can see both of us stop, so the finish line is plain.

My passenger was only holding the camera in the middle of the window, so then why, if he could beat me, why not pass me up in the video?

  • too bad that body style impala didnt come in an SS, it came with a 3.1L, 3.4L, or 3.8L V6, the 3.8 being the most powerful and still having only about 210 horse, which isnt bad at all but for an impala its not great

  • Actually, the late '04-'05 Impys of this body style DID come in SS. The engines available for this car never included the 3.1. You had the 3.4L "3400", rated for 180 hp and 210 lb/ft of torque. You had the 3.8L L36 rated for 205 hp and 230 lb/ft of torque, and finally, the late SS's got the 3.8L Supercharged V6, rated for 240 hp and 280 lb/ft of torque. If this car was the SS, it had the supercharged "3800" in it :)

  • Actually, the 3.8 L only had 200, not quite 205, even with the double exhaust.

  • Me and my booksmarts *rolls eyes*.

  • That was going to be my point, any chevy guy knows that, so thanks for making my point for me.

  • thats not an SS,

that body style from 2000-05 didnt have an SS option

its packin a series II 3.8L v6 200 stock horse

its possible its an LS sport, same engine but with a blower, regardless of love impalas

  • actually it is...the ls has a different spoiler and the ss had a supercharged 3.8L

  • It's either an SS or an LS Sport. The LS Sport doesn't have a blower. There was a 2004 and 2005 Impala SS, which was the L67 (240hp supercharged 3.8L V6)

  • actually yes they did have an ss option. When i bought my 'o3 i couldve bought an ss but couldnt afford when. They exist. look it up.

  • actually, they do make the SS for those models. the series II 3.8l v6 with the roots style Eaton supercharger was the engine of choice but only offered in the SS...i used to work on em all the time at a Chevy dealership

  • I hate the new Impalas.94-96 are my favorite. You know when they were rear wheel drive.

  • Yes I agree, LT1s are fucking awesome

  • Yeah they're awesome. But the fact is, an 04 SS will smoke the 96 SS ones, simply because it has a better power to weight ratio.

But then again the handling kinda sucks because its FWD (aka FTL).

  • they also domt weigh 4000 lbs

  • Which is why I was able to buy one. :P

  • no!!

  • Luckily, somehow GM performed sometype of witchcraft on that product and made it work.

The FWD power and steering combo puts a lotta stress on the front obviously, but GM pulled it off and made a quality piece of equipment, torque control, all that, congrats gm.

  • I had a 03 Impala base. It didn't handle very good.

  • Actually, in the SS handling is pretty tight, it got good reviews on the skid pad, the Base impala comes with a completely different setup, for comfort, its easy to change up though.

  • Oh for sure. Well I sold mine, but as far as I remember it did actually take a lot of G force, it was just a little too big, too soft, and the steering was a little numb.

I loved that car though. It made me feel at home with its huge couch-like seats.

  • About every 50,000 miles the suspension needs to be checked out, I keep forgeting what, but something up front always needs major tightening.

Yeah, the base is a little to soft for my tastes but when your doing 100+ feels like your doing 50mph lol.

Steering is also looser on the base, more rotations for a complete turn.

I hated my bench seats, I prefer the Leather bucket seat with center console option, hard to find in the base, easy to find in the SS.

  • Yeah I did notice my front shocks squeal every time I went on a speed bump. So that's why.

Don't be hating on bench seats man. They grip better then leather. They're just hard to clean, as I found out the hard way. :P

100mph really did feel like 50mph. In fact, it was so smooth and quite that I'd hit the 105mph speed limiter so many times that it started to get me thinking about a PCM flash.

Now I'm looking for something more exciting. Maybe a Camaro or a german sports saloon like A4 or E320.

  • With the long 2.86 FDR, you could hit 105 just cruising, its crazy.

If you havent checked out the 06+ V8 SS, you should give it a drive, tame at low throttle, like a freagin animal when opened up.

    LSX series, are great engines.

Ofcourse, if youve ever riden in a 3400 with 3.69s, it feels like a beast.

  • I'd wish...I can't afford that stuff.

That speed limiter really was annoying. 105 felt so normal and drama-less that I'd turn on the cruise control and lay back and relax at that speed.

Or maybe it was a blessing. I once passed a cop car doing 105. He didn't do anything. He might have, if the speed limiter wasn't there.

  • @wildbloodydragon stock for stock yeah but man the littlest things equal big power on those lt1s i had a 95 impala ss ran 15.8 quarter then did a diablo tuner and cat back dynomax exhaust driopped me to a 14.7 - 14.9

  • @wildbloodydragon I have a 96 impala and a 2005 monte carlo ss (identical engine specs to the impala in the video) that is about 150 lbs lighter than the 04 SS. 0-60 the 04 is faster than the 96 but after that the 96 will smoke the SC 3.8L.

The latest impalas are faster still 0-60 but I think they would also lose past 60 mph to the 96.

  • well the 06 and up models are nice, but yeah your right, the FWD completely messes em up. All 3 engines are great (3.5l V6 213hp 215ft-lbs, 3.9l V6 240hp 230ft-lbs, 5.3l LS4 V8 303hp 320ft-lbs). But mate em to a RWD or even AWD chassis and they would really make a TRUE impala.

  • Ofcourse, they would no longer be snow monsters. Which is why there fwd.

  • AWD would make awesome launches and handling. It'd waste a lot of power though.

  • not necessarily. Some AWD systems have actually less drive line power loss than some RWD systems. It would however only slow it down at higher speeds. But the impala could really use AWD simply b/c of its weight...3800lbs+...anything other than FWD lol

  • 2000-Current Impalas are nowhere near 3800 pounds. They range from 3400-3500 pounds depending on model.

  • totally agree with you

  • ha ha my 89 thunderbird would have murdered it not to be mean but truthfully it wud

oh yeah almost forgot it was the supercharged 3.8l v6 5 speed with port exhaust manifolds to let the pressure out for the 5% overdrive pulley so it didnt blow my head gaskets even though it did and a 76mm mafs she took on srt4s lightly modded and 350z lightly modded oh and i had 3.55s in the back

p.s. love the sound of your truck

  • Thanks, I don't know a lot about all what you got done with your T-bird, I haven't started looking into forced induction yet for my truck. Eventually I will though. Sounds like it could move though. I don't think I have raced any 350z's or SRT-4's I would like to see how I stack up to them. I know they are pretty quick. I am pretty confident I could atleast keep up with them.

  • Ha ha!! I like how he switched the camera view at 1:34. notice how he didn't leave the Imp. Also notice how the Impala was seemingly pulling back on him when he switched the camera to the front.

  • I had allready let up, try again.

  • U let up when u seen that the Imp was pulling on you. It's all good though but I thought Mopar trucks had more balls than that!

  • Nope, I let up because in a typical 1/4 mile run, lightly modded trucks get to about 90 mph, that is why I let up, if we kept going I would have still stayed in front of him being as how I don't have a speed limiter on my truck. Thanks for trying though.

  • If the Imp had any work done to it, i.e. smaller supercharger pulley, intake to go with the exhaust, and a reprogrammed ecu, it mite take you!!!

  • No doubt, they can be made into some pretty quick cars. There is a guy that had a supercharged PT cruiser in the 9's on the 1/4.

  • shit i race u in my impala trust me its not a ss ether i bet ill smoke u its 05 impala let me know wats up

  • PM me, you have anything done to it?

  • No that IS an SS Impala and NO it does not have a V8. The is a 3.8 V6 powered SS Impala. Nobody should talk any shit until they know what the damn thing is. From the quality of the Video i couldnt tell if it was one of the supercharged 3.8 SS Impalas which were made. Im a Chevrolet Technician i know what im talkin about. The 5.3L wasn't introduced until the body change in 2006.

  • Hey cardiak, its your brother. I am sick and tired of those people that think we did not race a ss impala. I think that they are just jealous of the fact that we stomped that impala. Ok for those that think we did not beat it, why don't you just pm one of us and we can settle it by linning up one day/night. If you would like to race me then bring it. I have a 1986 Pontiac firebird and a 2004 Dodge Dakota. i will line up no matter what. So if you are not scared whats up then!!!!

  • It may have been an SS but only the 3.8 v6 2004 or 2005 with the round tail lights. The 2006, 07 and 08 SS's are 5.3 V8's 303 HP

Look up jims impala on this site. He's driving an 07 at the track and is pulling a 13.49 quarter mile at I believe 101 mph

It's no race car but not bad for a 4 door sedan. Have fun and be safe!

  • That is pretty cool. It is always funny watching a front wheel drive car doing a burn out.

  • The Impala that you raced is actually faster than the 94-96 5.7L ones. The new 5.3L Impalas are a little quicker.

    average 1/4 mile times:

    94-96 5.7L V8 mid-low 15s

    04-05 3.8L S/C V6 high 14s

    06-now 5.3L V8 low 14s

I actually believe that was just a regular Impala LS with the SS appearance package.

  • i live right buy beltway 8 ill race u in my 95 impala ss since u wanna race impala's

  • PM me and like stated below, I don't mind runing against anything, its all fun. You have anything done to it?

  • looks to me like your in the Houston area right? saw beltway 8 at the stop light. I'll see about hittin ya up for a race if I pass by there some time let ya race a 07 imp SS

  • Sounds cool, pm me on here and we can set something up.

  • hey let's replace that impala with a 94-96 i bet he'd beat the brakes off ya buddy.

  • I doubt that, ran a Tundra last night, he couldnt keep up and they run 14.8 stock from factory. Best I seen from a 95/6 SS impala was 14.5 consistant with similar mods as me. Only difference was I have stock gearing (3.92) it (SS) has 3.73 gears in it. But while we are at it in switching vehicles there is an 00 Lightening that runs 1/4 in 9's. Get real, that kind of talk could go on forever. There is always something faster out there. Enjoy it for what it is. Appls and oranges buddy.

  • I love lining up with anyone. My brother has an 82 Firebird. it has the 302 in it, crank ended up getting burned up so he is getting it bored and stroked to a 350, I am still gonna line up next to him.

Last time we lined up he ended up just spinning his tires and never hooked. I can't help but rub that in his face any chance I get. I most likely will get creamed but that is fine with me!

  • i have an impala 3.8 & My neighboor also has a ram, we like to play like you, he always wons but it's maxium 2 meters in front of me lol

  • thats not a real impala ss

  • What makes you think it is not a real SS? I don't know anything about them, so its not like I can pick them out of a line-up so to speak. The guy said it was an SS.

  • It would say "Impala SS" on the front doors if it was one. Pretty obvious.

  • Don't suppose you ever heard of de-bagging have you?

  • On any Impala group/forum I've been a part of, I've never heard of someone debadging an SS. Usually people add the SS badge to non-SS cars... It's possible. Looking at your video, your camera guy sucks so its hard to see for sure. Could just be a LS sport with a SS spoiler.

My biggest clue is no whine from a supercharger when he guns it. The M90 in the SS gets loud.

  • Well after watching about 30 videos of the same model SS I learned 2 things, that year is slow unless modded and only heard the whine when an aftermarket turbo or supercharger was added.

Glad you knew what I was talking about, I should refrain from posting when tired, spelling is not as good haha.

  • Well, when you're sitting in it the whine is unmistakable. I heard the suction of the intake, so the camera was plenty close enough and sensitive enough to pick up a whine.

I really can't tell one way or the other for sure if it was. Just saying I have my doubts that it was. ;-)

  • I asked my brother, all he heard was my truck and the wind. I will try and see if I can find the guy again and get a look under the hood, I am really curious now.

  • Yeah that was my brother he is new at the camera guy thing, gonna have to get him some classes or something, I agree he sucks at it. He was the one doing the 3 newest videos on my list.

  • it couldve been the 05 ls with sport appearance package. My dealership if i remember used to be able to put the SS spoiler in in exchange for the regular one. BUt, also no whine from the 'charger, so its 90% not an SS.. Hey sup sabre!!

  • ss impala is a big body with a 5.7 lt1 corvette engine whats under his hood 3.8 L99 or something like that

  • That was the old SS style, the one in the video is a new style. It has a supercharged V6 instead of a V8. I want to say it is either a 3.4L or 3.8L engine. Look up the different body styles please.

  • that car will easily beat you if i was driving

  • I have raced many vehicles and to an SS Pickup, Chevy Suburban(heavily modded),240Z (man those are fast!). Since those loses I have added my chip and suspect I would be able to atleast hang with them minus the 240Z. Can't get a Titan or Tundra to run me, ran an RX8 or some other similar car, smoked it badly. Porsche Cayenne S or GTS, don't know since he never got in front of my rear bumper with my truck pegged out. Now don't get me wrong a driver can make all the difference but I doubt you can.

  • Ah cool, I am in the southern part of Texas. I bet that Lightining was fun, there are a few guys in my truck club that are running 12's in the quarter mile N/A, NO2 and a few boosted. A local Lightining is running it in 9's. There is a picture of the guy's launch and one of his front tires is off the ground a good 8 inches, truely amazing. Since we finally have true custom tuning not the crappy & expensive computer flashing we should be seeing some huge gains.

  • Nice truck, i will be looking for you with my 08 Impala ss. LOL

  • I don't back down from anyone, hell I would even line up with a Ford Lightining(totally anticipating a loss), its all about going fast. You know what year that one in the video is? He said he only had exhaust done on it. Where abouts are you from?

  • The Impala looks like an 04 or 05. I am from Massachusetts. I had a ford lightning back in 94, it was a fun truck.

  • I'm in Cali and the Impala has to be a 2004 or 2005. they didn't make any SS in that body style until so. I should know because I own a 03 LS. I added a turbo kit two weeks ago and the car is faster than I expected. Now I have to do the tranny because the 2000-2005 trans are horrible and running 8 psi of boost will only break it. But as far as hp goes, I'm outputting 260 to the wheels so far. I need a good dyno tune but before then, I must have the trans built stronger.

  • Aw too bad your in Cali, I would like to see that car run. To be honest I like fast vehicles of anykind. Soon as my truck is paid off I can't decide to get either the new SRT-8 Challengers or a new Vette or maybe even an 05-06 GTO. Tempted to even go with a 90's or 2000ish model Firebird, they looks sweet with that ram air hood. Tough decision on either part.

  • I personally would go with the 2002 Firebird Trans Am with the WS6 package. Not only are they beautifully crafted vehicles, but I think that car will give a 'vette a run for it's money :]

  • Don't think I could agree with you more, I would love to get my hands on one of the Firehawks, I think it was called. They start out with a 380hp stock vs the 310hp LS engine. Most of the ones I have seen are Canary Yellow. Heck we might even be talking about the same car now that I think about it. I still have while before I start really looking, got to get my truck paid off first.

  • Yes the Firebird/Trans Am/Firehawk with the WS6 package. It's a very, very rare vehicle but I'm a little more than just sure it was worth every penny. Those cars are amazing to say the least.

  • Very much so, a buddy saw one race A Dodge r/t Dakota back when they first came out. The WS6 gave the Dak a 3 car lead and still whupped it by 5, simply amazing. Sadly the Dakota r/t has the underpowered (5.9L) 360cid, so go figure.

  • They built a big hype about the Dakota R/T but I was disappointed when I seen one at the track and it only ran a low 15 quarter. I'm hoping it was the driver and not the truck because believe me I've a lot of respect for the Hemi since the 73 Barracuda...

  • 5.9 was mostly hype, at the time of its release it was a little something, but not long after it was left in the dust. As of today the biggest problem with the new Mopar stuff is Chrysler isn't letting the programing get out so it is taking a lot of companies thier own R&D to figure it out. It took Superchips 3 years to break the new OBD2. SCT just about as long to fully customize the same programming. If Chrysler would get out of the way and let the aftermarket come in to play we could compete.

  • And that much is true. I don't blame the Chrysler corp. for witholding that programming because what they stumbled on back then is now the basics of performance. Simply put, more air. But what they fail to realize companies like Superchips are eventually going to crack the program anyway! It's their job. So why not just put it out there, it might even bring Chrysler more sales. But who am I to speak on that?

  • It just seemed to me a bad marketing move to deny the performance niche what they want. Ford and Chevy to my knoweledge has been way more cooperative with aftermarket companies to produce parts and such for thier vehicles. Ford even brought in Rousch (?SP) and made the SVT group. Of course Chevy has always had the SS set of vehicles. I thought the point in being in business was to get as many sales as possible, to make a bit of profit.

  • I killed a manual v8 dakota off the line at 3 different lights. With a 3400 lol.

  • Yeah, the 3400's are sleepers. My friend has a 3400 with a 60 shot and it pulls.
