  • this is gonna be on noctourniquet - so excited

  • this song is damn awesome

  • cotopaxi part 2?

  • PEOPLE JUST ADMIT IT THEY ARE THE BEST BAND THAT EVER PLAYED IN THIS WORLD...PINK FLOYD SOUNDS LIKE SHIT COMPARED TO THEM....I MEAN...NOBODY WILL AGREE WITH ME BECAUSE IM TYPING IN CAPSLOCK BUT IS THE FREAKINGGG TRUE.

  • @VicteraIsler eh...well, except for the piper at the gates of dawn. after syd barrett lost his mind, pink floyd was never the same. in fact, i would go as far to say that they kinda blew without syd barrett. david gilmore is nothing compared to syd barrett. although ill admit animals was a pretty kick ass album.

  • @binocularbard Yes I head their entire discography, and albums like piper, meddle and animals are outstanding but the rest of them...shit...compared to Volta of course...those who hear pink floyd never heard volta, if anyone says volta is better than floyd get flamed...

  • if you like this check out hallways blowout on youtube

  • Not bad, but it'll sound WAY better once it's recorded properly.

  • NOT the same without Thomas Pridgen.

  • @ALEXXvsZOMBIES

Of course but to many degrees, they're better without Thomas. This song is hot; can't wait to listen to the album version.

  • @Digitalknifeparty makes sense though, they are experimental so all the albums will be completely different.

  • I love mars volta.... but I didnt like it...

  • I mean, pop culture has been picking up on deb-step like crazy. Soon, when artist with actual talent can appeal to a culture that wants more "mathy" music, prog rock and jazz fusion are gonna come back, baby!

  • @MrAmputechture Think about it for a second man, as history has shown, whenever something enters the mainstream, copycats and lazy people will copy the popular bands style and end up getting popular off it, until it'll be just as bad as what people like nowadays.

  • @halflife213 Not to mention how difficult it is to be a new fan of a prog-band, we have to face it, we're assholes, we haze those trying to join the fanbase of a band because they are newer to the group, and suggest they aren't as big of a fan because of where you discovered the band or where you heard the band, or when you join the movement. To be honest, I got hooked on the Volta from the radio edit of L'Via L'Viaquez on GH World tour. I was disappointed that they cut out so much....

  • You know what? It is my true belief that the future of music is looking at reviving progressive rock and jazz fusion. People are getting smarter, they want smarter music, and eventually the shit people are used to hearing is gonna get old, and prog rock is going to be the surviving structure for people to find originality in. The Mars Volta is only the beginning of the prog-pop fusing bands we are gonna see in the future.

  • @MrAmputechture I agree. Well Said.

  • @MrAmputechture

    i hope this will happen...

since the end sixties the music was becoming smarter and smarter and then BOOM in 1977 punk happened.

    3 chords and only screaming.

but mars volta could unite both of those

  • @MrAmputechture

If only people were getting smarter...

  • @MrAmputechture The music industry will keep up the manipulation of the human mind via media. BUT I think that the gap between people that really care about music (experiencing it on a deeper level than just hear'n'swallow) and those who only want a kick, snare, a women with silicon boobs whining about her broken heart, will become more obvious. And eventually, when it becomes too obvious, they will start to see. if they get the chance to! Share your music with the ones you love!

  • finally mars volta return to form. just as they reform with the sparta boys. theyre really spoiling us this year.

  • i miss ikey:(

  • oAuyoIsho14&t=1m44s

  • sweet recording, can't wait for the studio!

  • Awesome Awesome Bravo Bravo!

  • I always think of keyboard cat at the end of this song.

  • i was at the show in Houston that they recorded this at!!!!! Fitzgerald's on March 21st to be exact

  • This definitely sounds like they are getting away from the weird/cool shit they used to do in favor of standard issue radio rock songs. It's annoying but whatever, they can do what they want with their music. If this is the direction they are going in Ill probably just move on from them.

  • this kinda reminds me of older mars volta. its a simpler sound. i like it. its frances the mute esque. It's nice to hear cedric really show his voice like how he used to.

  • I can't wait for the new album! It's making me frustrated, I'm waiting so badly for the drop. Drop the albumbomb Mars Volta! Please! Molochwalk is so good it hurts!

  • what are the lyrics to this song?!!?!!

  • I actually hear about these guys like 4 or 5 years ago cause some kid at a cd store was like hey do you like mars volta? and i was like uhh not sure and he was like look em up man if your lookin in this section then youll fuckin love them trust me, and you know what that kid was right fuck yea thanks kid at cd plus!

  • I do love the sound, though it seems a bit selfish to name the band after yourself lol.

Sure sure, he's f'n fantastic, but come on... Give Cedric some credit, that man is entertaining and has the most unique vocals I have ever heard :D

  • @zanisthemels Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group is one of Omar's other projects and it doesn't feature Cedric, he normally writes everything. ORLG is performing all the new Mars Volta songs because their record label won't let them, so they basically found a loophole.

  • @zanisthemels

I love TMV, but Omar has his head lodged firmly up his... well.. yeah..!

  • i thawt john frusciante was wth them now why th lies

  • @highschoolpoptart he may be playing with omar's group on occasion. but hes not a member of tmv

  • @highschoolpoptart there's an album featuring John Frusciante with Omar Rodriguez. They worked together on occasion I guess.

  • @highschoolpoptart he might as well be. He plays guitar for them alot.

  • i rather liked octahedron actually. this seems like a flashback to their more punk days, which i really enjoy. i am so stoked for the new album to drop bc i am going to snatch that shi' up asap.

  • I hope they do this kind of shit on the next album. Octahedron made the music gods very angry.

  • sounds pretty good. i've been dooling for a new volta album. i'm burned out on all the others (including orl releases).

  • @clmarek1 fuck you

  • I don't know what these fags are talking about below. This is Fuckin' A

  • i recorded this with tape so i could play this in my car.

  • I am eagerly awaiting their return....future punk! oh ya!

They're bringing back by taking it beyond forward! They' re evolution unfolds before my ears.... ♥ ♪♫♪♪ • ♪♫♫♪ ♥

  • Led Zeppelin Riff!!

  • sounds l i k e goliath with a new drummer

  • anyone remember when the mars volta was good?

  • @BlueSpirals

I do, this is terrible. Glad I'm not the only one.

  • @BlueSpirals I do. :(

  • Omar is out of this world.seriously he's an alien

  • cuando sale el disco..? @zeustra2

  • @HugiitoEstalla enero 2012

  • @reservoirdog1 gracias!

    a esperarlo!

  • en vivo es mucho mejor!!!

  • This song is not going to beon the new album..visit Cedric's page

  • cant wait for this album, instant vinyl purchase.

sounds like they took a step back, closer to the early-volta days and even an ATDI kinda sound!

  • the mars volta always makes me think of...well lemme see if i can word this right...

if jimi hendrix played in the grateful dead but the grateful dead got rid of most of its members and started playing pink floyd covers with their own long jams and then met the dead kennedies, smoked some pot with them and took some influence from them, and then got darby crash and bjork to sing the duel vocals.

    eh, close enough.

  • @canthinkverywell

They just make me think of what would happen if Santana made a prog album with At The Drive In.

  • @canthinkverywell hell yeah man but I was thinking more of if santana met up with yes(early),rush, and pink floyd and.... had the world's biggest orgy

  • @canthinkverywell always thought in was more like the schizophrenic ramblings of an extraterrestrial who lives on a diet of opium cakes and shrooms.

  • holy shit!

    such good quality!

i thought it was a studio recording

  • Sounds Voltian allright, dyslexicon as well....

  • One Justin Beiber fan accidentally clicked on this video!!

  • One person's like button was messed up!!!!

  • Umm... Lol . . . This Fucking Sucks !

  • @JesusCookies Well, that's just like, your opinion, man.

  • this song is the cats meow

  • do you have the link to download this? This recording is fucking epic!

  • Comment removed

  • where did u get this fine quality audio?

  • @2ShaeJose this recording comes from this video: watch?v=oAuyoIsho14

  • freaking amazing, maybe my favorite song by omar that isnt TMV

  • @r3a3v3e3n There's no telling if it's ORLG or TMV material. ORLG tours and will play new TMV stuff as they please because ORLG is under a separate label. I'm guessing this is their "Cotopaxi" off the new album.

  • @machtheghost they've been playing it as The Mars Volta for months.

  • Great quality! Holy hell, what show is this from? And by the way, you've forgotten to credit Lars Stalfors.

  • Incredible quality! Thanks for the upload; I love how they brought in the octave vocals again!

  • nah im not going to do what i always do with everything i enjoy and ruin it because i see the same shit over and over until the "thing" comes out but by then its going to b eof no riprise get it...?

  • what happened to ikey

  • Cedric said, on his channel, it's not being released til 2012 :/

  • #themarsvolta2011

  • Fuck yeah! I WAS THERE WHEN THEY PLAYED IT.

(Dunno if they actually recorded it there on location though, ha ha)

  • OH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • They were in Houston, Texas in March. I could have gone :O its only like 30 minutes away :O

  • @alexsoutherland

i saw them in austin in june at the austin psych festival

. they played under omar rodriguez lopez group but it was really the mars volta. they hung out with the crowd and stuff. i sat and talked to marcel (omars brother/keyboardest for TMV/drummer for Zechs Marquis). they were soooo amazing.

  • Sorry guys, I've been off of Youtube for weeks. I know all about the new title reveals and I'm about to fix this video title.

  • @zeustra2 When does the album come out??????? I really really wanna know. its driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dyslexicon,The Whip Hands, Traps in the cellar, Trinkets pale the Moon, Mountain of Abruzzo/Abrim/Abraham (no one cant rly tell),Jacob Jam,Noctourniquet,I'm not running, Walk the plank, and maybe Broken English are all new song which are suspected to be on the new album

  • @xInDiieKiiDx Well, they have been performing many of those songs on the Mars Volta tour, so it's more than likely that most, if not all of them, will be on the new album. This song is really called "Molochwalk" though.

  • @12toedfeet oh, thankyou:)

    learn something everyday

  • @xInDiieKiiDx No problemo! Oh, and "I'm Not Running" is really called "Aegis" and "Traps in the Cellar" is "Jewel".

  • this is raw

  • \/ Search That

  • Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Group - Jacob Jam - Running Away 4/10/11 Vive Latino

  • Out Of Walk The Plank & Jacob Jam - Running Away Which One Is Better @decastrado @SuperDeadkennedys @reillyswilloughby@weirdfishes100 @elporto @ellconsuelo

  • Well What Person Would Look This Song Up & Dislike It @elporto

  • @ellconsuelo recently omar reemphasised that volta is his pride and joy. It's pretty evident just by listening to the complexity and production that a lot more time is spent on volta.

  • This is new Mars Volta. The Mars Volta is technically only Omar and Cedric, then they pick musicians they want to play with. It's a good idea for them.

I saw them last night at Austin Psych Fest. They just go by the name Omar Rodriguez-Lopez on the lineup for legal reasons because of the record company.

  • Your A F\/&king Hater If You Dis Liked This

  • @iilyena or just don't have the same fanboyish taste that you do, 'iilyena'. having said that.. it is sick.

  • When I saw The Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Group they played this! They sounded so good...

  • It doesnt matter if its the mars volta or the ORLG if its by Omar its fantastical!

  • Yeah, this song is on the new album.

  • @zeustra2 Hey do you have any idea when this new album is coming out

  • @zeustra2 source?

  • this is omar rodriguez lopez group and cedric ........no mars volta

  • I also think it is TMV. That's what Omar told me :)

  • This is NOT TMV, is a brand new song from ORLG.

  • @decastrado Apparently the new songs are a mix of new Volta and ORLG, so we don't know.

  • @decastrado yes it is the mars volta dummy hahaha
