  • I just can not get rhythm down, which makes it sound bland somehow. Guess I'll keep practicing, love PF

  • need a lot of practice

  • Question do you use your little finger?

  • @A13om13 Left hand - yes, right hand - no :)

    JAW

  • @jawmunji thanks

  • love the chorus part

  • jawmunji, yo have done a great job on this. i am impressed!

  • Why are you making it so hard for yourself? You can use way easier versions of the chords and have it sound exactly the same, but with less mistakes. Eclipse was great though! Still have to figure that one out myself..

  • can you email me the tabs you did for this song and anybody out there? theyre different than the tabs i find

  • buena loco muy buenaa (Y)

  • VERY NICE!! I loved it

  • You are wonderful sir.

  • You... are a badass. Smooth moves buddy.

  • Dude i wasnt gonna learn this song..but cuz of this video,im totally gonna work on it.way to go with the TAB set up..very awesome . 10star vid

  • Great version! I still can't even get Goodbye Blue Skies without making a lot mistakes. If you're a floydian then I'd really love if you tried Fearless, it's such a relaxing song... Keep up the good work!

  • Incredible. Beautiful sound and amazing clarity. This is such a powerful song. I love your version; thank you very much for posting. The tabs are high quality and much appreciated as well.

  • Amazing. I have been working on this piece for about a month now and have braindamage sounding pretty good. Thank you for the tabs all my freinds love to hear this amazing tune now i just have to work up the corage to do another one of your arragements thinking about brethe.

  • Cool, glad it is working out for you! I've changed it a bit to bring out the melody more, haven't got around to tabbing it though. I did a dodgy recording of it a few weeks back on my phone, if you want a listen head for my blog.

    Breathe is a good choice - note that I've changed that a bit too :)

    Work up the courage to post a video response - it's good for you!

    JAW

  • bad ass!!!!!!!!!!!!! teach me...

  • "I fall under the Roger Waters type" me too ;D... (anyway nvm) good job .-.

  • you got a touch of old ragtime style in there not sure where that inspiration came from. all the same like some of the different voicings you prefered for this

  • !!!R-E-S-P-E-C-T!!!

  • pretty good right hand technique!

  • INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of my favorites on YT, Jaw. Thx. You said you are a Floydian from way back. Do you have any other favorites from other albums that you know well enough to post? Some of their later stuff, like "Lost for Words" has killer guitar lead ins and and would be a great solo guitar piece w/some work.

  • Thanks WotW! I think there are three types of Floydians - the Syd Barretts, the Roger Waters and the Dave Gilmours. I fall under the Roger Waters type; which means I'm mostly limited to Meddle through to The Final Cut. Although I appreciate what Dave continued to do I don't really follow it; and I was born too late to be into Syds stuff ;)

    I can fumble my way through DSotM, WYWH and The Wall...but only the ones I can do well I've posted here.

    Good to hear from another Floydian!

    JAW

  • parcero que vacano tocas esa guitarra, ecxelente

  • complicated chords for nothing :S

    waters plays it simple!

  • Comment removed

  • I know he a bassist, no need to call everyone dumbass, chill out.

    What do you have to prove?

    Nothing. good. We are all humans.

    And sorry if I didn't knew he was playing the hard way!

  • well done, this song introduced me to the great pink floyd back in the day

  • thats, awesome thanks for the tabs

  • even if i didnt know what the song was about, this tune just gives me chills of insanity and loneliness. i love pink floyd

  • The song is about going insane.

  • i know, im saying waters wrote it perfectly!

  • Great

  • That's pretty damn awesome!!

  • COOL

    5 stars and favs..

  • arg i guess ill start goin to drop d but i am a standard tuning purist :) lol drop d is as far as i go its too bad songs like hope(rush) rain song(led) and vasaline machine gun(leo) were in such weird tunings they r some of the best instramentals outt ehre. if you havent allready i recomend listening to vasaline machine gun. the version with the closeup on his guitar. and hope by rush try a live one talex lifeson is amazing. if you dont mind id like your oppinion on those 2 thanks

    kris

  • epic face at 30 seconds jawmunji is legend

  • will this song work in standard tuning?

  • You could do it, but don't be afraid of drop D. 10 seconds to go down to it, 15 seconds to come back up to it (once you are used to it.) Seriously, don't be afraid, once you've tried it, you'll wonder why you never tried it before ;)

    JAW

  • Half a second there AND back as soon as you're as used to it as Phil Keaggy.... check out his video of Salvation Army Band... it's amazing! :)

    Lots of luck playing it... lol

    Anyway, you did a good job, maybe tomorrow I'll try it your way. Drop D is awesome, and almost necessary for Canon. :)

  • haha look his face 0:28 hes really enjoying this, thats great, i really have learned much from u man tnks.

    PS sorry about my english =P

  • Nice. I'm working on a cover of this one too.

  • that was great

  • This is great.

    Love your version dude.

  • awsome, i live your little spin on it! its a little more up beat than the album version with those added bass notes! what kind of guitar is that?

  • AWESOME!nice finger picking lol :D great job love the song and love it on guitar :D

  • Very nice.

    Flawless chord transitions!

  • did you forget, or you purposely did not play the D - D7 at the end of each verse?

  • Heh, after all these years and I never even noticed ;) Thanks, will start adding it in from now on!

    JAW

  • haha that's awesome, i'm glad i could help!

  • Mate your an insperation. You play some of the greatest hits and your finger picking style is a dream come true. I love your style, love your tabs. If you ever play live let me know when and where and Ill be front row watching for those hidden notes. :-P Youve really embrased every song you cover and they sound superb!!!! Excellent work mate. Talent like you have shouldnt go unappreciated, So bloody good job mate.

    Regards, Nick

  • That's a pretty awesome style!

    where do I get some advices or tabs for this kind of playing..?! I want to get at this level.!

    congrats man, you rock!

  • Oh I totally dig Floyd, Roger's show was something else, too bad I missed Dave's show. I just moved to Perth a couple of months ago from India, really nice place, laid back and relaxed :). Your playing is just amazing mate ! How long does it take to learn that stuff ! BTW you still in Perth ?

  • Yep, still in Perth. Been playing floyd on and off for about 15 years...but as with all things, "easy when you know how". I have a long term ambition to do an acoustic fingerstyle cover of the whole DSOTM album. I've done about 6 songs from it, at various levels of completion.

    Ask me again in 10 years, I'll be done by then ;)

  • Thats awesome mate :). Do you play to an audience like at social events etc ? Would love to see your performance ! Can you also try Green is the Color from More, I love that acoustic song and I think you would do a great job on it. Cheers !

  • Don't currently play for an audience, but planning on doing so soon. Maybe in the city busker style - when I've got my battery powered amp running again ;)

  • Well I will be leaving in a week, so if you doing soon let me know ! And all the best on your dark side adventure, do put them on youtube as well ! Cheers !

  • Holy smokes this is the shit! You rock dude !

  • Thanks man! I see you like your floyd...and red bull air races in Perth - my homecity - you must have been a long way from your home?!

  • Wow. man!

  • Wow, all your music is great. Thank you very much for postings the tabs and all the covers to go with. I'm a huge Floyd fan and to find your site is gold! Much appreciated.

  • Glad to be able to help! Get into them - I love playing my version of wish you were here, but maybe start with something easier :)

    ~~~~JAW
  • Your version of wish you were here is incredible!! It sounds like 2 or 3 guitars playing in unison. I play a basic strum and pick pattern for that song but one day I'll try out yours. For now goodbye blue sky and breathe are keeping me very busy :)
  • Sometimes I put 2 bass notes on the beat into Breathe, it kinda fills the song out and goes for the heartbeat sound. However, because I've trained myself to play a single bass note on the beat it is hard to make them all double (double as in eigth note on the beat followed by another eight similar note).
    Maybe if you are just starting to learn it, you can train yourself to play it that way instead :)
    Put up a vid response when you are done!
    ~~~~JAW

  • Love it, great sound what do you play?

  • Sounds beautiful dude

  • very swingy.... the little voice in your head must have said upbeat tempo. needs a tad more dreariness almost mental bipolarism would round it off

  • Someone else mentioned that to me a while back. It just kinda happened that way, wasn't specifically planned. I guess the swingyness is my subconscious interpretation of loonicism ;)

  • I kinda like the swinginess - it does give a bit of a nonchalance to the insane theme. It would have been a nice tune to hear over the end credits of the movie 'The Wall'.

  • Heh, thanks ;)

    I played this piece yesterday, hadn't played it in about 2 months. Still locked in, and was still a lot of fun to play, pretty easy too in fact. Give it a try :)

    ~~~~JAW
  • you are the got of covers on fingerstyle guitar
  • Felicitations ! Very good interpretation ! Bye. Hello from France !
  • 'Brain Damage' is very well represented tonally, but I'm not so sure about the slightly swung feel. Perhaps a slightly straighter approach would be more appropriate. It seems a little too upbeat - although the song is uplifting.
    In twenty years time I hope to be as good a guitarist as you, sir!
  • Ha, I know what you are saying, I pushed the meter more towards "swing" than I did "looney" ;)
    But, it just came out like that. You can't argue with the fingers, they know what they are doing, I don't :)
    Thanks! ~~~~JAW
  • u are awesome! what other songs do u plan to transcribe? btw great job on here comes the sun.
  • i you gonna do Comfortably Numb sometime? if you havn't then i suggest you try that one out, and dude you look like Brett Favre...
  • Beautiful, thanks for the rendition.
  • wow it's a very good job...Amazing and perfect.
  • i really didn't like the brain damage a lot, sounded a little bouncy with the changing bass line in my honest opinion. but eclipse sound amazing, i love it. nice job. :)
  • dang brett when did u learn guitar
  • Hehe almost perfect man congrats =)
  • i just listened to the version by waters, and this is exactly alike. this HAS to be the best cover of pink floyd on youtube keep playing guitar man live on..
  • Damn nice!
  • this is probably the greatest PF cover i have ever heard. PF is my favorite band, and it warms me inside to see someone who can cover them as well as this. props to you my friend.
  • Thanks! I like to make sure I don't upset any PF fans. I've got a couple of other PF covers I reckon I did even better than this one, I think you will approve ;)
  • so this is waht brett favre does in the off season
  • hahaha lmfao, that made me laugh so hard.
    He totally looks like brett farve. Your funny.
  • THE MASTER HAS SPOKEN!!!
  • nice brother~!
  • not bad at all, it is a great idea to finish with eclipse. ;-)
  • bravo, et merci pour ton site
  • Very cool playing of the G7. I hate hearing it just like the record all the time and this was a great variation. Nice thinking to use drop D too.
  • excellent playing mate.very nice!
  • A little beard growing. :D Too much playing? Nice job man.
  • wow your good =)
    thanks for the vid i can learn the chords to the song
  • so JAW...just curious man how long does it take you total to learn a piece like this one????
  • It should take a lot shorter than it actually does since I've been playing for the best part of 30 years ;) This piece I first played very similar to Roger Waters ~15 years ago, but after discovering Chet Atkins/Tommy Emmanuel fingerstyle I altered the bassline to what you see here. Probably took me about 4 weeks to change to the "new style", maybe an hour every couple of nights on it. I'm a slow learner ;)
  • so wactchya workin on now jaw?
  • You're in for a treat! ;) In the next few weeks I'm going to put out my transcribed versions of Naudo's "A Kind of Magic" and "Another Brick in the Wall part 2", complete with tabs of course. Just putting in some finishing touches and making sure I can actually paly it (even my simplified Naudo arrangements are hard to play!)
  • AHH GREAT!!
  • Great!, kinda rag-timey
  • Great work and thanks again for the tabs. love it and can't wait to see and hear more my down under mate!
    Cheers.
  • fantastic again! keep the loonies of the grass! thanks again. inspired again! cheers
  • yeah, real nice ! watched it twice.
  • Sounds fantastic as usual Jaw ! Thanks for sharing it
