  • Funny. As Paddy said "Aaron and secrets are a really bad thing." I was reading the latest spoilers for Emmerdale, captioned with "Aaron and Ed's date night doesn't go quite as planned as Ed learns an unexpected secret"

  • i understand what he means by it helps as a former cutter the pain you feel in your heart is too much to handle and anything that can distract us from that is worth it. cutting of the skin takes some pain away that you feel inside for a while you feel nothing and it was great but then it ends and you crave that pleasure again so u do it again and again and again but it cant replace the deep pain that aches inside you

  • You guys do know that there is a bodily responses of pleasure when self mutilating, right? It's not normal, but it's not that far off when you think about it. He gets both the pain his guilty conscience requires AND the pleasure his battered mind needs (not much dopamine in that boy's life). I'm surprised he didn't start sooner. I say good for him! ^_^ A little self harm never killed anyone... XD

  • Aaron is sick! He is very sick! He was a troubled boy growing up throwing tantrums, flared tempers everywhere to almost everyone that crossed his path. Maybe only except Adam, his best friend that he desired to have. Then he met Jackson whom somehow turned him around without even trying! Aaron suddenly found comfort and love. Then kaboom! Just when he was about to savour love, love ran past him in a flash! He felt he killed that love. The old troubled Aaron returns. Aaron needs psychiatric help!

  • wouw the way he talks to his mother....OMG right into my heart!

  • Damn Beautiful Danny gives me so much goosebumps! Wouhouw! He really has to get an Emmy,if that's possible!

  • Having Aaron sectioned would be unrealistic. As yet he has posed no serious threat to his own safety and apart from verbal abuse, no threatening behaviour to others. I think, however, that he looks pale and I reckon that he may be going down the anorexia route as well as self-harm. If this is the case then a psychiatric hospital would be appropriate, just as it would if he becomes violent to others physically and/or shows signs of a breakdown. Congratulations to the Emmerdale team - great s

  • There's also the science behind it...once the harm has occurred adrenaline is released, providing a rush, quickly followed by dopamine, which temporarily improves mood and reduces anxiety and then endorphins, the body's own pain killers kick in, providing a high (that some believe to lead to a euphoria similar to morphine). So it does have scientific evidence behind it to say it helps, however, just like morphine for pain, the effect weakens over time and more self-harm is required for that ef

  • I have a fair bit of experience with this. I know several different members of staff from the local psychiatric team and all agree this IS a coping mechanism. Whilst acknowledging that accidental suicide can occur, most people who self-harm do not do so in an attempt to end their life and thus generally tend to not go cutting too deep. I even know a psychiatrist who said to me once that giving advice on wound care was the best help to give to someone who self-harms and so educating them was

  • on a really silly note, danny's belly button looks huge!!!!!!!!!!!

  • When Chaz opens his cothes..ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh the skin, the exposure, the smoothness of Aaron's abs...so goooood...

  • This is why we have the "It Gets Better" project in the US and the Trevor Organization/Foundation, both available on You Tube and google.

  • someone can take aaron to a psy, pleeaaase!!!

  • Someone need to take Arron to hospital LIKE NOW!!!

  • Someone needs to take Arron to Hospital LIKE NOW!!!

  • Emmerdale is pushing all the emotional buttons this past year. Why they hv not rcvd more credit for that I'll never know. Both Chaz & Aaron had me crying, be still my stone cold heart

  • This was just so powerful, just when you think this story could not get any better, the writers and producers take it up a notch. The acting from the whole cast but from Danny Miller in particular was breathtaking. Does anyone know when the next episode will air?

  • @pdcub5 They have maintained this level for 2 years. I don´t know how they do it

  • Danny Miller has been sensational yet again. So scary how calm he is and determined in the final scene. was great too. Really think he should be sectioned for his own safety. It has gone too far and it is too serious to let him continue in this way. Also want to praise the makeup for the realistic cuts and the way Aaron looks so pale and drawn now. The writers and actors really have stepped up to the plate with this storyline and deserve every bit of praise.

  • those eyes @ 1:33 !!! and (this is surely the farthest thing from appropriate) that tummy @ 0:37 !!! 0=)

  • "It's not about wanting to die... it's about wanting to live."

It's all about punishing yourself for something. Self-mutilation always is. I've been there, I've done it as a teenager growing up. Nothing that severe, but I have.

Kudos to Emmerdale for this storyline... so well acted and written.

  • @preagle60657 exactly..it's about finding something to take your mind of things, a temporary pain..like getting high that little escape but it doesn't last for long, it's not healthy and you end up hurting yourself and losing the true you in the process. :(

  • Amazing acting and writting. They are showing me something I really didn´t know about. like I said in previous epis I´m surprised at how many people has this type of experiences. Kudos to ED again

  • Aaron's words "I'm not gonna stop" chill me to my soul. What will happen now. incredible acting and writing.

  • Something Mr. Miller does sends chills to my spine... when he speaks in a trembling half-octave tone higher than his normal voice, it is both brutal and beautiful. / Yes, I too want to watch all the time. /

  • @Mighthore i love the sound of it, too!

  • @Mighthore I love your comment. And yes I want to watch too :)

  • @sanyrub save me a seat, k? i'm right there with you guys ;)

  • @gxdjoeybaby07 lol I wouldn´t be able to stop watching if I had one of those seats...

  • @sanyrub same here...i would be on the edge of my seat, to borrow a phrase =)

  • Although cutting is not a good way of coping and Aaron needs proper help, unless he accepts that he needs help it is going to be hard to give it to him. Some of what Aaron is saying is true about the physical pain distracting him from the emotional and that cutting is not about wanting to die but rather a way to deal with life. But, he could unwittingly go too deep and bleed to death which is the problem.

  • 'Come on son, I just wanna help you..'

    'I can do it.'

STOP WITH YA FLAPPING, BOY, AND TAKE THAT JACKET OFF!! for, um, medical purposes, obviously...

  • i came out to my parents on Sept 1, and i wish i had Chaz and Paddy for parents instead...

  • @b4ubreak i know, it sounds banal - but it gets better! ;)

  • @b4ubreak be strong! 0=)

  • "precious pain, empty and cold but it keeps me alive,I gave it my soul so that I could survive,Keeping me safe in these chains, precious pain." - Melissa Etheridge. Lately when I watch this storyline this song pops into my head. poor Aaron in such pain and clinging to that pain and hurting himself because he thinks it's the only way he can keep going. Sooo sad.

  • I just wonder when Aaron's life will be fixed in this roll au couster...just don't get it.

  • There is NOTHING healthy in self mutilation. I can't believe anyone would even say there is!

The acting is insanely well done, the writing on par with the acting...gotta love Emmerdale.

  • Form experience, it does have to stop because there is a limit to how much cutting and bleeding a body can take. I hope with this issue ED does bring in a character that is a therapist, because in the real world intervention is needed. This is not a behavior that simple goes away on it's own.

  • The writing on this is Top Notch!! Who ever is doing the writing. Has been through this or has done A LOT of research.. It shows a side of grief. most people never knew about. Great Job!!

  • I'm sorry but I don't think there is anything remotely healthy abt what Aaron is doing, speaking from own experience Aaron dosen't stand a chance of getting better until he gets professional help, even though Aaron may not have the intention to kill himself what he's doing could easily lead to death by just one cut too deep or a inch to many and it's over. Aaron needs to get coping skills thru therapi not from sharp objects.

He also needs to talk a LOT I think Adam could help him a lot.

  • @Merima1978 I think Aaron needs proffesional help too but you can't help someone who doesn't want help and Aaron doesn't seem to want it. I think at this point the only way his mum could help is by possibly having him committed to a mental hospital since he is obviously a danger to himself and unwiling to get help any other way this may be the only option left to Aaron't loved ones if they don't want to lose him.

  • @shyathena34 Jackson didn't want help either and now he's dead and Aaron is violant and destructive, Chas has already done everything she can, she needs to let professionals take over and let handle this and she can just me his mom. They need to get him help weather he wan't to or not b/c he imo can't make good decisions for himself any more.

  • @Merima1978 I don't think you can compare the two. Jackson was paralysed from the neck down and didn't have a good quality of life. He asked to be euthanased because he was desperate. Aaron's case is completely different but I agree Aaron needs help.

  • @98slbrookes98 Jackson diden't have any quality of life b/c he was depressed not b/c he was paralysed.

  • @Merima1978 Oh right. I never actually watched Jackson being euthanased so I don't know. But I can see why being paralysed from the neck down would depress you.

  • @Merima1978 Oh right. I never actually watched Jackson being euthanased so I don't know. But I can see why being paralysed from the neck down would depress you.

  • @98slbrookes98 Of course but he never even tried to live in this condition, he gave up the moment he got his diagnoses.

  • Call in the boys in white, Chaz, and send him to a psychiatric ward. He obviously needs it.

  • Well thank goodness Chas discovered this before he actually performed invasive surgery.

  • @cvsken Invasive surgery? You mean before he accidentally hit an artery?

  • i have to admit i find this triggering !

  • @sarahamadan same here.

  • @sarahamadan Me too!!!

  • Chas really needs to back off on this. I mean, she took away the punching bag, now she's trying to take away his cutting. Aaron needs something to help him through the process, and so long as he isn't causing lethal damage then he should be allowed to continue. Everyone has there way of coping with their issues, this is Aaron's. Moreover, as Aaron pointed out, she can't stop him; he will continue to cut for as long as he needs too.

  • @lawrence5584 Oh yeah, Chas should just back off and allow her only son to cut himself till he bleeds to death. What a healthy way to cope with your issues...

Seriously, unless you've at least taken a course in mental health psychology (albiet I can't imagine an instituion on Mars accepting you), you should really keep quiet, because everything you've said thus far is complete and utter nonsense.

  • the phenomenal "why you do it" question, if there was an answer simple enough to explain that it helps with all the built up pain inside. the most disturbing part of this is that Aaron has a found his solution to his problems and that is the most scariest shit there. It's like molding in pain and u see some sense of freedom/ release from all that, but it is just illusion cause it will never go away and it will become a problem in itself. Aaron is really breaking my heart.

  • Lucy and Danny were really awesome.Such a simple question Why do you do it? It helps. Its really extreme seeing him disfigure himself, but I quess people actually do this or worse.I'm still hoping the best for Aaron.

  • @jwsm2 Believe it or not, this is actually a healthy step, one which many treatment centers for trouble teens endorse. Essentially, Aaron is taking a deeply disfiguring psychological pain/trauma he can't deal with, and translating it into a physical pain which he can cope with. He feels better when he cuts himself, first because he's "punishing" himself, but second, because he's transmuting the pain into something the stings, but gets better, which heals. So he's trying to cope.

  • @lawrence5584

I completely disagree with this statement, any form of self- harm is not a healthy way of coping, its an avoidance tactic, rather than dealing with the emotional he forces physical pain which he can handle , its addictive and eventually a little cut doesn't relieve the pain as much and the self-harm behaviours get worse or the lack of coping with emotional pain and stress just leads to further problems.

Aaron needs help, he can't just transmit his feeling to physical pain

  • @lawrence5584 What the hell type of treatment centers are you talking about? No one defines cutting as a "healthy" step. There are treatment centers FOR cutting (also referred to as "self-mutilation"). It is considered incredibly self-destructive and no one is going to endorse it, particularly if your job is to try and find healthy ways for teens to deal with difficult situations. He isn't coping, he's just finding new ways of not-coping worse.

  • @lawrence5584 uh no dude, although yes I have heard and read that it can be seen as a healthy tactic cause it is relieving emotional tension and the pain but it is not healthy in any way. ppl who endorse this is ridiculous. you think 10 more cuts till he stops punishing himself? 20 maybe ? how much you think it will take "cope" with a memory of inflicted pain? it could be seen as coping but it will manifest into something worse.

  • @greymushroom1 first, it's like he is punishing himself and same time reliving the pain but the pain is still there so he does it again, then he hates that hes doing this to himself but sees no other way and punishes himself but cutting again. this goes on and on, it is a vicious cycle of disfigurement and not only physically but mentally how you think.

  • "I want to watch you all the time"

"That's a bit creepy" Lol, oh Aaron

  • @DenizandRoman funny, I want to do the same thing;P

  • wow... I was glued to the screen today...

  • love this! some great acting again from Mr. Miller!

  • love this! some great acting again from Mr. Miller!

  • amazing acting by both of them, the really work well together and make the story-line one of the best ive seen since aaron came out
