so i watched it-- well, it wasn't as bad as i thought it would yet the original is still much better. tony todd (ben) was terrible at first but got better in time. cooper is a disaster - in the 1968 v. he was portrayed as a reasonable guy; here he's just irritating. helen was a much stronger character in the old movie as well. barbra is too much of a badass to be convincing. and i hate the new ending - oh, people are so mean coz they play a bit with undead monsters. "gimme a break!"

The movie was good, but the original was better. Especially the ending in the original. This Barbara was just too trigger happy, and no reason for Ben to turn into a zombie. Was he bitten? No. Some can argue that it was radiation, but then that would have turned Cooper, maybe even Barbara into a Zombie. But overall, pretty sweet!

Only dead people turn into zombies. The bites don't necessarily turn, only kill. Which then means they become zombies. Therefore, Ben died of his wounds overnight, and thusly turned. Cooper survived, and so didn't.

Was that Brad Dourif who grabbed Barbra in the truck???... Overall I prefer the original to this one. And I am NOT one of those guys who just always likes the original no matter what. I love that Barbara shot Cooper at the end. Barbara was a much better character in this one. However the acting, the black guy (LOL) and the overall feel of the first movie was better. I guess it will never be topped. But still a good remake. Thanks for posting.

One of the beautiful things about the original is the hero is wrong and the annoying cowardly heavy is right

The cellar-dweller told Ben the gas pump thing was a bad idea-boy was it-and also told Ben the best bet was barricading themselves in the cellar.

The hero Ben disagreed just a little, but survives the zombies by following the bad guys advice.

Although I enjoyed the movie, and I've seen it several times, I don't ever once recall Ben actually being bitten. He was shot, just like that dead guy at the top of the stairs (I'm terrible with names), so he shouldn't have turned into a zombie. Besides, when Barbra returned, the cellar door was still shut, so nothing could have got down there to him... It may be a meaningless point, but it's one that I still don't see possible, and is the only flaw to this movie, besides a little bad acting...

This movie was definitely entertaining for what it was...even though i like the original Night / Dawn / Day (and even Land of the Dead) FAR MORE than this...i still liked this for what it was, a good remake.

PLUS since Tom Savini directed, and worked closely with George Romero..AND casting Tony Todd as Ben was GENIUS...i give it points for those facts alone.

(if it didnt have Todd, Savini, Romero...i would have been bummed).
