  • of course a great aussie song

  • has pearl jam or eddie vedder put this out on a cd

  • Takes me to a sweet place. Enjoy real moments of true haapiness

  • love this x

  • Vedders voice really suits this song.

  • Eddie fucks this song up every fucking time.

  • Great tribute to a legendary Australian song

  • What a gift to find this. Great cover.

  • to silence any controversy, I changed the description of the video from "Eddie Vedder's song" to "Eddie Vedder's version of the Hunters and Collectors's song"...Eddie often makes covers, I met this song with him and I thought that it was one of his songs, but I was wrong,,sorry!

However, let me say that I prefer the Eddie's version, maybe I'm biased, but I love his voice and I think it's insuperable!

  • i love this specific version!

    and i love ed. ;)

  • 1986 - Melbourne, VIC - Hunters & Collectors..

    Written by: Mark Seymour..

    just --> watch?v=vkRNz0tR7tc&feature=related

  • i'm a huge PJ fan, and i'm sure i'm not the first one to write this, but its not eddie vedder's song. its by hunters and collectors.

  • Lets not forget here that its a "Hunters and Collectors" song (Australian band) this song was released several times and amazingly never made it to #1? BUT it is a song most pub go'ers would have heard covered well or not so well and still sang along too like a anthem!

  • @MrDavin68 Eddie actually performed it with the songwriter from Hunters and Collectors during an Australian tour :-)

  • @wjohanw dont get me wrong i love and respect Eddie vedder he has been on stage with many singers and song writers and done them all justice and showed respect for their work ... he is one of the best !

  • @MrDavin68 new zealand band there mate

  • He rocks this song so beautifully!

  • I do think he does a great cover of it though, there are a few ways to play this song

  • "if i had this guy's voice, you could all kiss my ass"

    -David Letterman

(i wish i would have conceived that qoute so i could take credit for it)

  • I guess we Pearl Jam Fans just keep our thoughts to ourselves. I think Eddie would respect us for that. We each perceive the band in our own private and personal world. We make the band "ours" by doing this. It is special, as is the music that comes from these wonderful souls. In the end it only matters that the music is here, for us, the individuals that appreciate all that it is.

  • I love this song-Eddie just makes it even better...wish I could get this on my IPod!

  • @auntmaw Look for the Melbour/Sydney Official Bootleg cd's from the early 2000's I think. They did it a lot back then with some GREAT live versions where the entire audience sings along with Eddie.

  • It's not Eddie Vedder's song, and he doesn't do it justice. Go to any pub and you'll hear as good a version as Vedder does. Check out Hunters and Collectors for the real deal.

  • @justme2623 ~~~hey we are all allowed to agree to disagree on you tube so i totally disagree~~noone rocks out a song like Eddie does or has the deep baritone voice like he does except Chris Cornell, Eddie being my favorite though~~i did as you suggested & listed to the Hunters & Collectors & i'm sorry their voices are so so soft & girlie & they dont do their own song as good as Eddie just~~like i said we all get opinions on here & it seems as though i'm in the majority in the reviews department.

  • @dakota23750 yes we can have differing opinions, but being in the majority is often meaningless, it can even be a bad thing.

While Seymour doesn't have a Veddar or Cornell voice, it's hardly girly or soft, but it is more than a one trick pony voice, he can really sing rather than relying on what is basically a gimmick. He can also use his brains to remember the words.

  • @justme2623 .hey sorry if i sounded insulting..didnt mean to come across that way..i agree theres times when Eddie, just being Eddie, has had one too many sips of wine on stage & flubbed a song, but after 20+yrs, i think he & PJ are doing ok!!.we all have favorites, he just happens to be mine..honestly dont think he's a one trick pony though..if you're open to his beautiful voice listen to him singing in his cd Ukulele..the songs are really pretty & totally different from a PJ show..peace Dakota

  • best love song ever :D

  • this is why I have the stick man tatooed on my shoulder, nothing better man. this hearts my heart

  • Hehe. Not too many videos out there with 0 dislikes. Usually some jackass out there. Eddie is immune to jackassery.

  • @jjsara123 Jackass alert

  • An acoustic bluegrass version, would be so great ( I did grow up on the original, terrific video went with it).

  • this sounds so good ...

  • WHY... does this not have more views... ive liked many genres of music, and seen many bands over the last 20 years.. but no one ... gets me , like the sound of Eddies voice.. wonderful ..

  • @BlondeRocknRoll ~~~~~I 100% totally get you Eddie is & has been the best in the past 20yrs. Noone out there has a voice or style like he does~~on top of that he is so gorgeous~~in my opinion he is a true musical genius.

  • Written by Mark Seymor of Hunters and Collectors (Australia). Mark sings it with Eddie on the DVD Live From The Garden. Eddie sings it solo on the DVD Immagine in Cornice (Live In Italy). Neil Finn (Split Enz, Crowded House and The Finn Brothers) does several good versions of the song on YouTube. As I recall, there are several good live versions of Eddie doing this on the commercially available live Pearl Jam CDs; the "bootleg" series.
