u should have gotten the q9650 if ur going with air cooling

did u get the qx9650 for $1000 because if u did then i would have been a waste not getting a gtx 280 which is about twice as fast as a 8800gts + single gpu = no stutter

Please note that i bought this setup about a year ago. Then the 8800GTS's provided the best performance/price ratio, for example the 8800 GTX and 8800 Ultra models were almost twice as expensive and only marginally better (and actually worse in some scenarios). As for the processor, I did pay ridiculously much for it, but at the time there were only three quad cores on the market, the Q6600, QX6850 and the QX9650. And the processor kicks ass, it's OC'ed to 3,83GHz and it idles around 30C :)

@etelansaari Bet you regret buying all those acasa fans though :P I had one in my last case and it drove me nuts!!! I now have 3 120mm and one 240mm antec trispeed fans all set on low. whisper quiet and superb airflow. Those QX9650's are holding price well too mate. An excellent choice! And will also overclock to what ever you need for the nxt yr or 2.

The 8800 Series DOMINATED the game for a year and a half, maybe more.....Unless youre a mega freak for benchmarks, one 8800GTS is fine for cod4 or css. My 8800GT plays cod4 and css perfectly. Never under 45 fps in cod4 all cranked up 1440x900 and my card has NEVER see under 100 fps in CSS. 8800SERIES LIVES ON!

Yeah I'm thinking about getting an ATI HD 4870X2 unless Nvidia comes up with something better (and affordable) in terms of SLI. For example I'd have to pay the same price for two 260s (280s are waaaay overpriced) and a 4870x2, and the latter is better.

Two GTX 260 Core 216 Overclocked editions will absolutely destroy an ATI 4870X2. Plus, ATI has terrible driver support. Since the release of Core i7, nVidia has already released 3 updates to their drivers. ATI is still working on their beta version. What good is a video card if the drivers that interface it with the rest of the computer suck?

Just grab two 9800GX2 Very inexpensive and almost As good as a 280gtx and its only around 280dollars! I would just download a 64bit verison of vista ultimate off the internet.And the Velociraptor arnt really worth it yet all a hard drive does is a few secound faster in loading. go for theses.

You think? You know that will only pull about 300W max under load. My Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz is pulling far more than your CPU and I have no problems with a good quality 500W PSU. I'm running an 8800GT BTW. A single 8800GTS pulls about 100W.
