A 757 cannot fly that far, Northwest does NOT have a 767, but an Airbus A330 is perfectly suitable for that route. Maybe they use a 747 because many people from Japan travel to Hawaii.
wow! I dont like them to since I found out they have the oldest fleet. But they have a lot of 787s on order. We switched to NWA since the people of PAL dont know how to perform CPR when something happened to my uncle.
@virus86 They have the oldest fleet because of their DC-9's. Now Delta is flying the old NWA DC-9's. They sure keep their planes for a long time though. Sheesh, its a little scary.
Yea when I flew in there from KATL, I was on the right side and it was turning dark. It was scary as they turned in and it seemed the water was going to to hit the wing.
Theres no autopilot function that will automaticly land the plane. There are functions that will line it up perfectly with the plane and take it to a certain speed and altitude, but the pilot will land it fully manually with no autopilot. He'll turn it off at a certain altitude
That's not true. The autopilot will land the airplane completely. It's called a "coupled" landing. The Flight Control Computer will land the aircraft while the crew monitors everything.
While this is true, given the weather conditions at HNL and the fact that HNL doesn't have a Cat 2 or 3 approach, this was probably a hand flown approach and landing.
Ahhhh......I miss Aloha airines......you can see it at 1:32.

can a 757-200 make this route easily?
cubsrule2040 3 years ago
I'd doubt it. I think it's a little out of the 757's range, but I don't know. A 767 could do it easily though
musicmanpilot123 2 years ago
757 can make it, range of the 752 about 3800nmi.
