I deliver in newspapers in Sweden by bike. Monday through saturday with some bigger hollidays free (christmas, easter, midsummer) I,m employed by the hour and deliver 5-9 different papers per day depending on day of the week. The newspapers themselves handle subscription fees and such, i get a list to follow which tells me who is supposed to have what. The wage for 3 hours 25 minutes day for 6 days a week gets me somewhere around $1700 a month.
Ha, I've been delivering newspapers in lebanon, Pennsylvania for over 13 years now. It sucks. If you decide to deliver newspapers don't deliver for Lebanon Daily News, Just trust me. Second if you want to deliver newspapers make sure you can be up, and stay up between 12 midnight to 8 or 9 on weekends, and can get them done before 5 during weekdays. I have 7 newspaper routes. I deliver LDN, New york times, financial times, usa today, reading eagle. BTW I don't ever get Xmas off, I work 370 days
Don't deliver papers unless you are crazy, absolutely love music and wild out at nights lol so about 0.00012156 % of the world's population would do this kind of job and enjoy it. Off I go ..... F papers
Since I posted this video two years ago, the newspaper has gone mornings. I still deliver -- 1 to 6 a.m. -- 364 days a year, unless I find a sub to fill in occasionally. But to the person who moved to Brazil, let me know how it goes. I've lived in Colombia and would truly enjoy doing this in South America.
@Malignantspiritify WTF are you talking about? I've been delivering 7 newspaper routes for over 13 years, they don't do a background check. Newspaper companys are so greedy they just dont give a fuck who applies up, as long as they get the job done.
@BAMDANAproductions Maybe where you work... Its the 21st century, things are changing. Our newspaper company is keeping stat on new policies. Too many things going down lately.. It wouldn't be logical if they didn't do a background check
I smoke those brakes off every Tuesday from 8am to 11pm. I deliver a little over 3050 papers for The Reflector in Amboy and Yacolt WA. My wife delivers almost 2000 papers in Hood River, OR. I have respect for the person that posted this video. Man I hate the smell of those brakes till they get burnt in!
@MsSabrinaLee Tips don't usualy start coming in until Christmas, and that has changed since the recession, the economy is making it so people tend to keep theirextra 5s and 10s. I usually made about 1000 in tips when I first started delivering. Now I only make about $50 if im lucky. BTW I deliver 7 paper routes so thats why I have a big tips.
Not a lot compared to you others, but I deliver about 80 papers for the Las Vegas Review Journal and Wall street Journal, But My route is spread over 50 miles one way. Start anywhere from 4:15-5am and end 6:15-7. It's a fun part time job.
i deliver bulk papers 265 days a week tue, thur, andsat i pull a double i average around 20 hrs. a week and take home $1400 less gas and other expenses i work 2:30am to 4am most of the time unless papers are late.. i like it when people call me a paper boy and say "must be a good job" and then laugh so i say i bet you 100 dollars i make more than you let's compair pay checks winner gets the $100,, they back down. lol winter sucks at times but the summer is great all day to do what i want.
I know so many of these locales from my childhood. If you deliver in the "Wilcox Addition" area be sure to be on the lookout for a large grey pole barn in the area. A swimming pool in the back yard, and a a really shitty looking house next door are your clues. 10 points for finding it :)
I have 420 during the week, and 520 on sunday mostly neighborhoods and some rural. Im out about 2 1/4 hours a day. 7 day a week work weeks can burn you out, but its nice working a little over 20 hrs a week for 470$ . That yaris is a good paper car. I have a 4dr civic and use my accord for sundays. Watch those misses!!!
I have to wake up at 2am and go to the depot and pack up all my papers(236) and deliver them by 7, shit is a real bitch to get up at that time, i guess since i just started, i am not use to it, I have a route in bayonne, nj. Fuck the people that want it in the mail slots or all the way up the damn buildings!
I know how it this man, I worked for the San Jose Mercury News since I was 19 years old, I quit recently at 22 because where I used to deliver papers was too far from home and buying gas were eating my pockets dry. I swore that I would never do this job again, but guess what? just a couple of days ago one of the carriers quit this one route which is very close to my home, the last stop is 2 minutes drive away from my comfortable bed in my home LOL.
I just trained to memorize the route last night and I memorized the way, but I'm training for another route tonight so I'm going to take over both routes. I know it's sucked waking up during a good nice sleep. I remember saying fucking this job when I'm tired, but when I'm energetic and fully awake I remember thinking I want to do this job a little longer I don't know if you thought the same thing as me when your tired LOL.
when I first started I worked for an employee, and he used to pay me $1100 for delivering $1000 papers everyday, going to work at 12AM to 8AM on the weekdays, and 12AM to 10AM on sundays. Now I get to take over my own route, which I will earn approximately $1800+ depend on the selling rate. Now I only go to work at 1AM and go home at 5:30AM or 6AM doing two routes. LOL
you guys got it easy where i deliver we have to park the car and deliver because its in the city and almost every house gets a paper and eneryone wants something different in the door, mailbox, milkbox, porch.garage its alot to remember and i do 265 papers from 2am till 7:30am.its a little different i guess in Canada.
I deliver the Harrisburg(PA)Patriot News.7 mornings a week,365.When I started delivering I did afternoons during the week and mornings on the weekends.Major holidays off.
Then they went to all mornings. So for the past 7years, I get up at 3am toss papers to dark houses and pray that there is no rain or SNOW in the forcast.
I do mornings, too, on Saturday and sunday. The Gazette is one of the few afternoon newspapers left, I suppose. (We get Christmas off.) Where do you drive?
dont you get thanksgiving and labour day off, cuz i do for the companies that i deliver. btw you're lucky because the ppl on your route dont have broken mailboxes where the lids are hard to open (some dont even have a mailbox or slot) or have to deal with 100 un-leashed guard dogs.
