Have fun gentlemen... i think you will enjoy this alot :)

  • My favourite record when i was little. But it was too scary to be listened alone lol.

  • I want to own this on double vinyl again, but I'm too scared to make the purchase! The way this whole soundtrack made me feel when I was a kid.... it totally overloaded me with fear. My sister had the War of the Worlds poster in her room and I would run by her door hoping the aliens wouldn't see me!

  • DUN DUN DUN

    DUN DUN DUN

  • I'm a 17 year old girl and my dad showed this to me a few days ago and I was blown away! Such talent, amazing music!

  • Film-crap. This-awesome. That is all.

  • My father will forever be awesome for getting me into this :P

  • im gonna upload the whole album in either 2 parts or all in one

    both A and B sides

  • the first time i heard this was i think in 1979/80 at night in the radio, they passed all record and i was amazed by the music, next day trying to buy the album, but couldn´t find it anywhere, until a swedish friend that had the record lend it to me and i recorded it on tape. i was 17.

  • omg this was so much better live!! i sososo want to go see it again!!

  • the chances of anything coming from mars is a million to one!! BUT STILLL THEY COME!! my favourite part!

  • Inherited this album from my Dad... Thanks Dad! x

  • have the vinyl, cd, every different version of the films the book and even the recording of the news broadcast version the yanks did..... its an awesome story wich ever way you look at it.... but the musical is deffinately my favourate.

  • my grt uncle eddie played the combe and bog roll on most of the tracks. if ya listen really closely...one can hear the sound of his richards lining up in turn within the confines of his departure lounge. smashing aint it??? ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. for the none poo drs out there, departure lounge is ya colon (rectum) botty cave. The mitten of stench. ha haaaaaaaaa

  • Thank you for uploading this. Now I will go out and buy the set because Jeff deserves my money!

  • Love this! Have the records. :D

  • I always hated the movies because they portrayed the Martians as massive and indestructible beings, when in reality, they weren't all too hard to kill. When one faction is completely invincible, it makes a pretty boring story.

In short, read the book, and listen to this album, don't watch the movies.

  • i gave my dad a copy

  • There is a movie with those tripods?

  • They say a picture is worth a thousand words; this music is worth a million.

  • This used to 'proper shit me up' when i was a kid. I remember my dad used to play it and it always seemed to be dark and gloomy outside. The martians used to, and sometimes, still do haunt my dreams.

A quite pleasant dream could turn nasty by glancing to the horizon and seeing three or four fighting machines heading in my direction.

I'm nearly thirty now and have two little boys. They absolutely love WOTW but show no fear. If they ever find something scary I'm in trouble!!!

  • "The chances of anything coming from Mars are million to one . . . but still they cooooomeeee."

    Ominous . . .

  • 'Der Krieg der Welten'. Has a great ring to it, doesn't it?

  • "I imagined the sword of heat would be to us as US military hardware would be to cavedwellers with peashooters."

  • I just went to watch this live at the M.E.N. Arena, and it was F***ing amazing!!!! worth the £60 tickets!

  • man the first time I heard this I almost pissed my pants! it scared me so much! espessialy that noise the martians made! ULLA still frightens me

  • still a classic to listen to

  • Bought the double LP with artwork booklet used 20 years ago or so. Still great to listen to.

  • Almost finished the book... Whenever I read it, I always hear the narrators voice in my head and catch myself humming this tune...

  • Noone would have believed in the early years of the 21st century that Morgan Freeman would even CONSIDER attempting a remake of Richard Burtons CLASSIC soliloquy!!!

  • @Robi6942 I think Morgan did a nice job.

  • @njva17420

Nice .... yes .....nice ...but what is nice if not mediocre

BURTON owns those lines ad infinitum - I guess in Morgans defence somebody had to do it

  • @Robi6942 I would NEVER consider Morgan Freeman's voice as mediocre. And "nice" is not equivalent to "mediocre" anyway.

  • @njva17420 Morgan is undoubtedly one of the greats. Speaking strictly about his rendition of the opening monologue - he (IMHO) falls short.

Oxford should update their definitions of "NICE" to include: Cute but not for me or Ugly but fuckable.

  • Krieg der Welten, it sounds cool in German

  • @Sixalienasa It sounds even cooler, almost poetic, in Italian - "La Guerra dei Mondi". :)

  • @SPeacock I am afraid I cannot agree with you on that one, I guess its a matter of taste though.

  • If you have never listened or owned this EPIC then sorry you should'nt even be on this planet. This is the greatest album ever to recorded in the history of mankind.

  • Epicest thing I've ever heard. EVER.

My dad had this when i was little, and I used to sit and listen to it, shaking in my pyjamas cuz it was so scary to me xD

  • My father gave me around 200-300 vinyl records when I was about 16, and insisted I played Dark Side of the Moon and this. Fucking hell it's stayed with me to this day. Epic.

  • @chocomog35 My ex-wife claimed the copy we had in the divorce settlement.

  • @enfieldchace

    ouch...

  • @chocomog35 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' by Pink Floyd was an interesting record & it does have a lot of similarities to this, in terms of sound effects, but I heard it much later when I was an adult. My memories of Jeff Wayne's record 'TWOTW' go back to when I was 9. I recently heard this when I was in my early 20s & it brought back a whole bunch of haunting memories, but it didn't scare me like it used to. I'm looking forward to the new version out in June next year!

  • it scared me when i was little scares me now :/

  • @shadehunter

there are 21 'uploads(vidio)' on your channel.

    LIVE CONCERT(COMPLETE)...11 UPLOADS

    complete set american vinyl copy.1978

    and WOTW German album cover

PART 1 the eve of war ...

    2 other short related vids.

  • @tomwmloppe

Thats with the German album cover was my fault.I took the wrong cover and don´t get it until the next morning :o

I had some problems because the songs were to long for youtube, so i had to cut some seconds.

  • The original story is about an everyday man. Spielberg should have made WOTW as a period piece set in England.

  • @DarthCipient seeings the H G wells. story was

  • the album cover shows

    KREIG **WELTEN

this is superior record without vidio...

I have vinyl record. copyright 1978 american album cover...

  • God I Love this album and the book :)Didnt like the Tom Cruise film at all, usual hollywood rubbish and wasnt true to it at all in my opinion.

  • War of the SERVERS has this soundtrack :) this is the main theme for wots XD

  • LEGENDARY!!

  • the movie shouild off bean a trilogy like 3 movies the movie the made was shit it was just get it out for xmas for dosh really disappointing allso they never had this famous tune on it too!

  • Good old jeff wayne

  • N I C E very very nice. I only have this on an old f**king tape. But I have it.

Thanks for doing this on youtube.

(Tom Cruise.. the "new" movie, LOSER)

  • I agree, the movie was rubbish, not long ago i whent to watch TWOTW at the MEN arena in manchester, it was fab ^-^

    The movie just killed it

  • This is a wonderful album from an outstanding book. I don't see why so many people hate the new movie. It had the best tripod designs ever!

  • Spielberg's movie was awful. Switching the story from England to America was pointless, and the story consisted basically of Tom Cruise's character, who literally could not make an edible sandwich in the film, trying to dump his kids on his ex wife. Hey, that's way better than watching HMS Thunder Child standing up to Martian war machines!!!!

  • @DarthCipient - the movie was not that good - but i see that the movie was suppose to follow an everyday man and we see it from his point of view and that's why we always follow him

  • This was the first cool Soundtrack ever. Jeff Wayne is a hero. °|~JoCognito

  • i have to agree with everyone who thought the film was a load of shit. the musical is unbelievable i love it.. and you are better off letting your imagination tell the story its better than lookin at that tom cruise fuckin eejit

  • Habe noch das''Doppelalbum''und darauf kann man stolz sein, etwas.

  • Yes, what he said

  • He speek in english

  • The Tom Cruise version sucked. End of story. And no sequel to it.

  • Don't even talk about that crock of shit tom cruise film just listen to the the war of the worlds album and let you imagination do the rest

  • @mrminty28 The only note-worthy things about the Cruise-Spielberg film were the special effects and the Newark and other NJ locations with which I was familiar.

  • @mrminty28 You shut up lol. That was an awesome movie. And if you payed any attention chicken shit, you'd see that Speilberg included a lot of things from the original. IE coming up from the ground, hiding in the basement cellar, only revieling the martians twice, and, most importantly, the epic tripod "aloo!" shut up XP

  • @6364gg2 Even so, the film was not a patch on the book or the Jeff Wayne musical. Nothing on the silver screen has ever done this story the justice it richly deserves =(

  • @mrminty28 That movie wasn't bad for what it was trying to be: a fast-paced action movie. The atmosphere couldn't possibly rival this of course but I don't think it did a bad job in that respect either.

  • @mrminty28 you are damn right ;)

  • @mrminty28 What about the upcoming game? Personally, I would've had Jeff Wayne's design and music for it. They could still keep Patrick Stewart's voice if they wanted.

  • @mrminty28 Hahaha, so true.....A BIG thumbs up for that comment.

  • im 14 and my dad used to play this all the time and i still loce it lol xxx

  • My step dad used to have this on 8 track and it scared the living shit out of me when I was a kid. lol

  • Epic!

  • grabbed this 20-some years ago. totally wore out the first album copy I had; we played it so much. bought a second album, copied to cassettes. repeatedly wore out the cassettes. have a third copy still sealed in the plastic, and also have it on CD. friggin' awesome to this day.

  • 100/100 best musical eva

  • musical's amazing

    movie sucked balls.

dakota fanning in a martian movie wtf?!?!

  • The original war of the worlds is all right

  • No the movie sucked, Dakota Fanning is retarded, and critics just think she's talented because she's young.

But then again I don't give a fuck what critics think about anything. They're no better at watching movies than I am so why would I take their advice? I know what kind of movies I like and they know what kind of movies they like.

  • War of the Worlds is the most spectacular sci-fi film ever. You don't know good sci-fi.

  • including the original Star Wars trilogy?

im not really into sci movies though

  • Ha thats great i heard it with my dad too a few years ago gotta say the second disc is better than the first tho

  • thunder child.....carrie.....wooooo...la...dick burton:s voice....still yhey come.....

  • I love this song. A long time ago but stil very good. My dad has it on a album.

  • lol everyone including me heard this with their dad when they were like 3or 4

    :P

  • first time i herd this i wuz camping wit my dad only a sterio car and a single lantern and the closest person was 3 hours away i wuz scared 2 shit

  • wow man, basically the same. As a kid this was one of the most amazing ways I had ever heard a story told.

  • HATED the movie but i looooovvvvveeeee this lol

  • shut up u cock

  • Excellent comment!

  • all i have to say is AMAZING music

  • unreal album

  • Einfach MASTER!

    Fucking Insane, the whole album!

  • Fantastic!!

  • My dad used to play this in the car when I was little. Now, I am deathly terrified of aliens, even though I doubt they really exist. Lol.

  • Omg my dad too, but then in a room with only one candle and I was like 4 I was so scared of the music and sounds and voices. even now

    ;P

  • awesome ! !

  • The first two chords are Dm then A7. So simple, yet so powerful. Genious.

  • I had heard about this album when watching a History channel documentrey. Then I discovered the concert on TV one night and instatnly was captivated by it! Thanks for up loading!

  • i remember i was listening to that when i was a kid. it's so good.

  • I didn't know there was a German version of the cover. Neat!

  • Excellent!

  • A beautiful and artistic piece of music. Very haunting sound, love it!
