I was a punk from the late '70s till the mid 80's and wasn't aware of this tune till i heard it on a 'best of punk' compilation. Loved it immediately, great tune, great band but why do people feel the need to make negative comments about other bands? You either like a band or you don't. You either like a Genre of music or you don't.
If you don't like it, don't listen to it, but don't decide for other people what's good music and what's not. Leave that to the Spides, Neds, Chavs,and Red Necks of this world.
They played at the Leeds Futurama Festival in 1979 and were far and away one of the most impresive bands over two days, but, because there was a punk or post-punk conformity they were written out of the script. PIL were rubbish but topped the bill and got plaudits. It was a strange event, even Joy Division, who were impressive got little response. It was a cold and pretty grim old shed with heaps of debris lying around. Ah, memories.

The Only Ones are UK legends who have influenced two generations of bands. This song is 30 years old and still being covered. They didn't sell a lot or records in North America but they are more influential than Blink 182 will ever be. Nobody will give a shit about Blink182 ten years from now. They were just here last week and sold half as many ticket as the last time they were here four years ago.

This song is so incredible, it's one of those timeless epics that never seems to age at all. I loved it from the first time I heard it (embarrassingly on that advert a few years back) I must have been about eleven then, this was the start of me liking good music! The velvet underground and the stooges created punk music in mid 60's. The sex pistols were heavelly influenced by the stooges (namely steve jones) and started the movement. There are 3 great punk albuns: the stooges, never mind the bollocks and another music in a different kitch (buzzcocks). By the way, I love this song played by the only ones, not the blink 182 version. Cheers.

i'd say blink started out as skater punk then turned into a pop punk band once they went super mainstream...now they've got a more post punk sound...punk rock to me is more political in nature, such as bad religion, dead kennedy's, propaghandi ect.

They're a pop band. They write pop songs for teenagers and adolescents. They're early records have a bit more of an edge to them, but they're more recent ones don't.

If you are refering to the only ones i must say that you are way off. They are far from one hit wonders. I saw them this year at Strand in sweden and it was one of the best thing i have ever seen. But if you are talking about blink 182 be my guest to continue.

The Only Ones are UK legends who have influenced two generations of bands. This song is 30 years old and still being covered. They didn't sell a lot or records in North America but they are more influential than Blink 182 will ever be. Nobody will give a shit about Blink182 ten years from now. They were just here last week and sold half as many ticket as the last time they were here four years ago.

This song is so incredible, it's one of those timeless epics that never seems to age at all. I loved it from the first time I heard it (embarrassingly on that advert a few years back) I must have been about eleven then, this was the start of me liking good music! (And for the record, the Blink version does nothing for me. It sounds so much less raw, and so much more processed.)
