  • I was thinking that cllimbing up seems like a great challenge, but climbing it in reverse back down would be true craziness. Then I read that they walk down...

  • I am in LOVE with this girl. I'm working hard to be able to do what she does. She's awesome :)

  • Steph, I have watched many videos and read articles about your rock climbing, base jumping and sky diving incredible feats. You are a truly fascinating inspiration, for all women and men alike! Your soul partner is extremely lucky to share every moment with you. I wish you all the best forever and ever.

  • what's the title of the last song?? Tell me, please???

  • @tribaldcon Just like Honey by the Jesus and Mary Chain;.

  • Free soloing... you don't need anyone else. Aside from a camera crew.

It's just nice to be by myself... with this camera man.

  • why am i scared...just watching this?!

  • Extremely badass! But I love how you say you prefer free soloing and yet there is an entire camera crew all the way up.... Makes for a sweet video though! Rock on

  • I LOVE YOU STEPH DAVIS ! ! !

  • Thanks for posting this. Steph is an amazing climber as well as an amazing person.

  • Does any one know the song at 2:14 ?

  • This is amazing. She sounds like a wonderful person.

  • why isnt she in the kitchen?

  • I'm wondering, free soloing means you have a parachute as well or not?

  • @Existentialexplosion

Free soloing typically means only rock shoes and chalk; no parachute. IIRC, Dean Potter was exploring the idea of free soloing with a parachute a few years back but I don't know if he climbs with one or not.

  • @DickyHertz Dean has actually done some parachute climbing, and has been successful

  • How did she get down...??

  • crazy girl!

  • Unbelievable feat of physical and mental strength. I visit the Rockies as often as I can and hike in places, but watching Steph do this gave me heart palpitations. I can't even come close to imagining what it must feel like to do this. Truly an amazing accomplishment - my hat's off to you, Steph.

  • i summited longs, but i only did the keyhole route lol, but seeing the face of the diamond route in person is epic. It is an enormous sheer cliff!

  • Please make some kids befor you die

  • Boobs of steel!

  • what is the name of the song that starts at 0:59

  • the air is a little thinner, LOLLOLOOL, try ALOT Thinner!

  • "Fear is the Mindkiller..."

  • To see this video with Audio go to vimeoDOTcom/3233607

  • Fucking DAMMIT YOUTUBE! Re-upload plz?

  • Wow. Thank you copyright for taking out the audio in this video as well as the person speaking.

Nonetheless, great video, it always reminds me what's out there and the infinite number of ways you can climb and achieve yet another route. Videos like this keep me inspired to keep climbing!

  • this is equivalent talent of great like mozart or da vinci...in their respectable fields. mankind benefits from such people that reach farther than most can ever imagine.

  • Cue up "Cascade" by The Future Sound of London and start it just as she wakes up at 4 am. Great soundtrack.

  • So how long does this route take to do for a professional let alone a recreational climber?

  • @Elementecho "People do a long day on the diamond. it takes 3-5 hours to hike to the base. it's good to start climbing the north chimney at dawn. the very best thing is to be finished with the route by noon or 2 pm, to avoid afternoon thunderstorms. it takes an hour or two to walk back to the base, and then 2-3 hours to walk down." ~Steph Davis via prAna

  • The reincarnation of Dan Osman

  • Gah! That is...a little high. I've been up Long's Peak the easy way and even that wigged my hiking partner out.

  • What would you do for a Klondike bar?

  • I'm scared just watching!!

  • "The fear is the danger." I hope her day job is not a commercial airline pilot

  • @richyeilding her day job is a professional climber ;)

  • Holy.......

    What's left after that!!??!!??

Is there even a word to for that? Impossible is out. Unbelievable is out. Do amazing or incredible even come close!?

  • Impressive climb, but stupid. Just Darwinism at work maybe? Her feelings of being "in control" or of "mastery" are illusions. Do it long enough and your luck will eventually run out....

  • Fuck, I can't even do a 40ft 5.11. Indoors with ropes and rests

  • That is soo rad!

  • keep climbing, we love u from Romania Timisoara!

  • You always see film of free soloists climbing up a mountain, but never down- that has to be even more unnerving.

  • @that70sguy1975 people rarely down solo. There's either a rappel route or a easy decent.

  • why does she carry the rope like she's on lead when free-soloing?

  • @rimjabba650

She trailed a rope on Castleton so she could rap off from the summit. (I assume the filming was done with a helicopter, so the film crew couldn't let her rap their ropes.)

The rope is trailed from a gear loop... if anything, it's a hinderance on the way up.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!

  • whats the song @ 3:40 plz?

  • @roeKY

    Crimson & Clover -Tommy James-

  • what kind of shoe is that at 0:55 they look like 5.10s but im not entirely sure

  • @mangekyou663 Anasazi Moccasym

  • I want one.

  • talk about mental strength!!!

  • The fear is the danger!!

  • Its ok for things in life to change or to go away, thats the punch line for me and yes it does have somthing to do with a relationship ending.

  • A woman of rare strength and beauty. Transcendent.

  • @gerardo231 She knows what she's doing and doesn't have that fear factor. She's more right in her head than most people.

  • Steph, impressed yes, Stay safe.

  • this is probably the best film i saw on youtube

  • My heart rate went up just watching the view from the edge. I cannot even begin to imagine the feeling she must have had sitting up there.

  • it's amazing what comes when relationships crumble.

  • Ditto -- "the fear is the danger"... that, and gravity. Unbelievably talented, strong and controlled!

  • Incredible, beautiful, inspiring. "The fear is the danger". Those are words to live by.

  • MAO!!

     (=^ェ^=)

  • It's hard to stop when you start free soloing, what can top it? but if you don't stop... you will die. They all do.

  • @phiber85 *we* all do. No one is immune. In the meantime? Let's live!

  • my reply is why doesn't she at least climb with a BASE rig like Dean Potter!?!

  • @mchamp3802

In Touching the Void Dean Potter explains that he uses a BASE rig in order to try climbs that are out of his comfort level. He still climbs with no rig (probably because it feels more free and allows for more movement). So maybe she's just on a climb that's comofortable for her (she did say she's climbed it many times in the past). That's probably why in my opinion...

  • The humane body can do so much when it can follow the mind.....AKIDO.....Steph shows us what mind over matter is.The reaper is at the bottom sayin....I might as well go shes not going to fall. Thanks for the goose bomps Steph.

  • that is probably the coolest video i've ever seen. thanks Steph - you rock !

  • not only she is an awesome climber, but she is an awesome person...read her blog for more insight....

  • Beautiful.

  • nice nice nice, the fear is the danger. the onyl thing i can think of is how do you get down?

  • umm... does she have a death wish?!

  • "The FEAR is the DANGER." I really like that one.

  • Jack458111: "something is fucked in her brain"

Something is fucked in each of us brains. But some have a very disturbing, harmful to others madness while some have a peaceful, even beautiful one...

Way to go for all the beautiful people out there, living their lives in a beautiful way!

  • That is a beautiful comment, to a beautiful video!

  • Thats one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. That takes a lot of mental control. Way to go Steph!

  • uh sure she's skilled but clearly also bat crazy to do that!

  • All I can think of when I watch that video is there is no way I could ever do something like that without a rope. I am just totally blown away someone can do something like whether they are crazy or not.

  • She is amazing.

  • some top tunes on there

  • hahah omg! she's right though...the fear is the danger!
