Around that time, all these groups moved towards a more "New Wave" sound, and the Whispers did too; for my greatest pleasure.I'm sure this album is overlooked,in comparison with the preceding 1983 album "Love for Love" . "Love for Love, in my opinion, contains too much slows/ballads ; but I -personally- prefer rythm; hence my preference for 1984's "So Good"
@VintageSoundsNumber1 If I'm not mistaken, Leon Sylvers also produced the debut album for the short lived group Krystol the same year, right? They were extrememly underrated.
Yeah...I believe you are right about that ... I'm not much a fan of that group, but in the sound of Krystol , there are obvious influences of Leon Sylvers style ... I guess he might have been involved in the production of this album...
It is underated indeed (probaly better sung by Janet Jackson or Shalamar), but its good for The Whispers, after givin' it a second listen. Leon Sylvers was one of the best black music producers in the 80s along with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Kashif, The System, Prince, and Quincy Jones. This song has potential for a single and video, but it probaly was'nt released because the new wave sound sounded too commercial for The Whispers.
definitely an example of some sick use of analog synthesizers. fantastic.

Heavy Simmons drums beats from 1984, plus bass synhesizers ...The style of the mid-1980s ! (and the unmistakable signature of Leon Sylvers III)
