@dtafti121 you can do this on many fretted instruments, like a guitar. you just hit the string behind a fret hard enough and it will play without having to be plucked
@InnerflamesUnLtd@dtafti121 you can do this on many fretted instruments, like a guitar. you just hit the string behind a fret hard enough and it will play without having to be plucked
@guderiann :) :) we are all inter-related...so many persian tribes moved into the slavic zone in Europe...did you know that Bulgarians, from the Bulgar tribe, hence the name, are relatives of Persians that left greater Iran? ...cool stuff!!
I commented respectfully, this is playing tanbour like playing a lute my friend, if this is what you like, I respect that but it is not what a tanbour should sound like. this is my view and my comment, if you don't have the capacity and tolerance for a criticism, then you should be caged in a zoo because you can't handle the daily life. I can't spell? Mr. "FITHY" mouth? your "Taasob" is taking your mind to coma and what you do is an act of verbal violence. you should be ashamed of your self.
matsel144 YOU did not commented respectfully. judging the white dress, shaking head..words like fooling..and disgrace..let me tell you kid, I was born around tanbour players in Kurdestan, the birthplace of Tanbour. You invited the verbal asult, you asked for it by asulting masters rather than respecting them for offering their souls by this sort of performance. I don't even know Mr. Purnazeri, but cheap shots like yours have no support. So I repeat, Talk is cheap. Show what you got Mr. SOCIETY
As a white guy from USA, I find this instrument beautiful and the player to have great skill. It's too bad people are arguing about details. All that matters is that the music is shared for our enjoyment. In U.S. there was a rock guitarist named VanHalen who got famous in 70s and 80s with a style called "tapping" (creating sound with left hand only, no right hand plucking). Cool to see that other people have been doing this for probably hundreds of years.
this is setar, not tanbourr.if they think they can fool us with a white dress and the head shacking and all those acting, they are wrorng.they are a disgrace to tanbour society and tanbour playeres
May i ask U why do u think It's a setar he's playing? and why do u think it's a disgrace to Tanbur? They are(Keykhosrow nazeri) the reason ordinary people know more about Tanbour these days in Iran
People like you are the disgrace ones..you can't even spell. You have such a low IQ that can't tell the difference between setar and tanbour. Do me a favor and take your judgemental crap to your so call "tanbour society" where it belongs. Tanbour society my foot.....you and your society should be caged in a zoo instead of being in youtube commenting. Talk is cheap kid, you have it show it in youtube and let others to comment RESPECTFULLY rather than being FITHY mouth like you..peace or no peace.

This is how tanbur is played. Didn't you listen to "seday-e sokhan-e eshgh" 30 years ago?

Or maybe he uses the grip on his fingers (left hand) to disturb the strings on the frets.

I wondered the exact same thing. I assume the stings carry on vibrating longer than other lute instruments. But I'm not sure.
