im back, ive had the syb-5 for over a year and a shit load of other effects and i still cant really figure out how you got this sound....also what was your bands name again?

@onionbuskut Hey man! This is the syb-3 on 'mode 6', but i also used a distortion pedal, the ibanez pd7. the band (seafur) unfortunately does not excist anymore, but we're still on myspace. I havent been playing with effects too much lately, i am trying to master the fretless bass for a bit! good luck with finding a good sound!

I can get one for about $20-$40 online, used, but I'm on a really tight budget. Is this worth it, should I save up for a SYB-5 because of the LFO, or get neither? Need an answer by tomorrow.

Hey.

It depends for what you want to buy it. I love to play with it at home, you can get the most brutal noises, and the autowah is cool. On stage however it never works out so well; the sounds for me are a bit too extreme (except for the autowah). I never played on the syb5, so i cant really help you with that. But if you can really get it for around $20 you should do it, its good fun.

I like really extreme noises like this, so I will look into getting one in the future. Unfortunately, the one I was looking at on ebay, the price went WAY up. Plus, I'm not really a bass player, I just play some of everything. But thanks for answering.

cool you bought the syb as well! i think settings on the 3 version differ a lot form the 5. In this part i put it in 'mode 6' while turning the frequency knob. The slap part is in 'mode 10'. good luck!

Squier is made by Fender, it's a brand that has the same basic guitars and basses, but cheaper, to be able to compete against those brands that sell well amongst new players. Only an experienced, dedicated player will buy a regular Fender.
