  • Thank God, Texans were smart enough to separate from Mexico. Look at what's happening in Mexico today, ugh!

  • I noticed that some Texans were immigrants. Well, Alexander Hamilton and John McCain were born overseas. JUS SANGUINIS was applied.

  • @cris750 JUS SANGUINIS was actually a good thing. The citizenship determined by the birth of place was just retarded. Some immigrants bring their pregnant wives to the US. Then after the children are born here, they bring the kids back to their homelands. Sure, by laws, their kids are Americans, but they really are not. Everybody knows that.

  • Texas independence to leave the Union is a bad idea. Rather more states should be joining the UNION. Actually, more territories and even nations within the western hemisphere should join the United States.

  • @cris750 I hope Canada will join us.

  • One of my parents is an american citizen but abondoned me when I was born. How could I claim citizenship through JUS SANGUINIS (which claims that you are an american citizen if 1 of your parents is an american citizen.) I am goiing to need legislation through congress to change a privacy law at the St.Louis military personnel records center for those who served in Panama. Also to have them submit DNA samples. By the way, I was also in the US military.

  • Senator Cornyn,

I promise you that Texans still remember, and will always remember. I am proud to be from the great state of Texas. I pray God continues to bless this land. Thank you for remembering us!

  • Texas independence, a sad attempt to remove the people who belong to it by greedy narcissistic western immigrants and their ideals. But it's all in the past; slowly and surely the land returning to the people whose ancestors for centuries have inhabited the area.

I remember how Santa Anna was demonized and Sam Houston idolized in my Texas history class, and it saddens me that children today are continually being taught a biased history.

  • Thank you Senator Cornyn. You make us so proud to be Texans. Keep it up - you are doing an incredible job. You will get us there. One day people will realize how important it is to model the country after the most successful, proud, prosperous state that ever existed in America.

  • Thank you Senator John Cornyn for this speech commemorating the greatest events in Texas history.

    Don from Irving, Texas

  • I'm proud to be a Texan!! This state has so much history. It is an amazing state!!

  • @buffyfirefly As a Californian, I do have to say Texas is awesome!

  • Amen !

No matter where I am or where I go, I will always be proud to be a Texan. In all the places I have ever been in my country, no state can or will ever compare to Texas. I have met people from all over the world who are not originally from Texas, they have one thing in common, though they may be from other parts they rarely, rarely ever leave...least not voluntarily !!! Thank you for this great speech senator Cornyn

  • YEAH BUDDY! TEXAN FOR LIFE!
