Why won't my iPod (Nano 5G) turn on?

Hello, my ipod nano 5g is not working, is dead, black, itunes doesnot read anything when i plug it in, nothing, i tried the menu /center button and nothing, could you please help me?? that's the only one i have :( plisss

Funny thing is. I didn't eject it improperly? It just stopped the music, and shut off, and is not out of battery... the wheel-click is also broken, but I can live with that *I just play them ALL*... so i'm hoping its not gonna happen frequently. Although, the Menu & Center thing worked for me before, tried it again when it stopped working, and it worked. But I can't figure out why it stopped in the 1st place. Could be various reasons, you should know judging by the top comment/by now how to.

Hi. I have a serious problem.I have an ipod nano 5th generation. The other day i dropped my ipod and when i picked it up the screen was completely white. So i reset it and the screen went completely black. And now it wont turn on, or reset. Whenever i plug it into the computer or my ihome nothing happens. The computer doesnt read it and the ihome doesnt either. I dont know what to do. At first i thought it might need a lcd screen replacement but when it didnt get reconized i was confused. Help?

you have to pull up i tunes and a message should pop up asking you if you want to restore your ipod then if you need to download the restore software click the download button when the message appears

try to turn on by holding in menu and centre for 12 seconds when unpluged to anything because the same thing happens to me and i HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got my ipod sent in but they told me to do what i just said and i said Yes!

this is what happens when you buy a fake ipod nano. just kidding!

you need to press and hold menu and center button. it always helps, sometimes it happens to me when i unplug my ipod from the charger without ejecting it properly.

@CHECC32 have you tried about pressing and hold menu and center button? it always works. if it don´t...then i guess you should take it to someone who can repair it for you...some ipod´s come from bad fabrics.

where did you bought it? you might wanna take it back and see what they can do. which ipod do you have? mine is a Ipod Nano 2 generation.

I really need help... My ipod only works when it is plugged into the computer or car even after I have charged it. when I take it off the charger it shuts off and wont turn back on. is it connected in the computer? if it is in the COMPUTER just unplug it and try again. because ipod nano in computer dosent work it just says "plugged in" and its basiclly on hold.

Do what I did when mines did that: I got mad and threw it at the wall. It got a small crack in the corner screen that's barely noticeable, but it worked again!! :)

same thing happened to mine, but I'm not sure why.... To fix it I plugged it into my laptop with the sync cable and left it alone for about a half hour, then I forced it to sync and it corrected the problem... Stressed out of a minute, but after about a hour all was well... Good luck...

You have open itunes on your computer, and connect your ipod to your computer, then press the middle button an up.

Heres the tip.

I download a thing that itunes said to identify mt ipods problem. Then u press centre and munu together and a apple pops up and before u press centre and menu it should pop up a white screen that looks different from ipod regular screens

1st.Plug in your iPod to charger (make sure its pluged in your computer)

2nd Hold down middle bottom and menu at the same time

It worked for me turned on in about 4 seconds .

I don't know what happened o.0 maybe shut off it worked for me!

I have kinda the same problem. Well, if you charged it up it would automatically come on T_T But mine is kinda like hers. First, I wiped mines off with a damp tissue, it wasn't soaking wet, and I didn't let it get on the ipod. Next, I had left it under between the sofa cushions, and when I tried to turn it on, it wouldn't come on. It wasn't on lock, or anything like that. I didn't see you hold down the play button because thts how you normally turn it off. But I think that would've been the first button you held down.
