@studnoth1n yeah the story is told through a series of letters from the mother to the father after the 'incident'. it isn't an easy book to read, at all. but a very good one none the less. it really is one of those books that makes you think.

@itubedesiree open to interpretation, but I took it that the mother finally was able to love her son. He was a jaded little devil, no one saw that, and when he confessed his confusion, she felt that she finally got through to him and got the peace she needed.

There's alot more to it, but I don't wanna spoil it for anyone else.

The novel is fantastic. You really need to read it before this film comes out. When I heard that Tilda Swinton would be playing the lead role...I had never heard of anything more brilliant, more genius. SO PUMPED to see this!!!

@chrisgeronimo The book is amazing. I agree that it's best to read it first. I am always wary when novels I like are made into films. I learnt a sore lesson with 'The Time Traveller's Wife'. This one certainly has big shoes to fill. I might avoid paying money for this and wait for it to come out on Digital etc. That way if I'm disappointed with the adaptation I can rage in the comfort of my home :-)

The novel is brilliant, and casting Tilda Swinton looks like the most genius way to make a worthy film adaptation. You should definitely read it! It's so moving
