This was when "Seinfeld" transformed from a quirky little sitcom into a comedy giant. The genius of this episode (and dealing with the subject matter that it does) was amazing. Not ever having to use the "M" word once, everybody knew what the characters we're talking about.....

Almost twenty years on, "The Contest" stands as one the best American sitcom episodes ever made.....

Keep in mind this was 15 years ago. It seems like no big deal now, but back then it really was. Seinfeld pushed the envelope on quite a few occassions, a big part of the reason why it was so classic.
