  • Laaaapula? It's Lah-poo-ah.

  • That is the best group i have ever seen with an Ar-15, - M 4, M 16 type rifle. I have seen that bullet do awesome accuracy in Olympic competitions. We are talking 1" groups at 300 yards with iron sight! Nice to see that type of rifle chambered with this type of bullet. All wondered how accurate you could get with this type rifle because M-4 are 3" moa at 100 yards tested at the factory.

  • Hey like your video. I was curious to know if you knew much about cartridges. I'm fascinated by bullets that have a good Ballistic Cooefficient. I've heard of the 6.5 Creedmoor, but don't know the advantages or disadvantages of the Creedmoor or the Grendel. Are there other 6.5 mm designs out there? I was just curious b/c I'd love to know more about 6.5 mm's.

  • @dcpinner The 6.5 is a great bullet. High sectional density means that it maintains velocity (and energy) well downrange. This makes for a flatter trajectory, with good energy out to 1000 yards.

The 6.5 Grendel cartridge was designed to fit the AR-15 platform.

The 6.5 Creedmore has a reputation as a very accurate cartridge, but won't fit in an AR-15.

Another offering is the 6.5/.284, which is also too big for the AR-15, but has higher velocities.

The Grendel benefits greatly from handloading

  • change the butstock plzzz

  • @OmarA27 The stock A2-style stock is a good choice for a weapon like this. It's a good choice for any weapon if it fits your body well. The rifle stock also allows for a longer spring and a longer and heavier buffer. That increases reliability because the weapon isn't cycling ungodly fast. Some of the carbine stock kits you see sold allow the weapon to cycle upwards of 1000rd/min. That's just asking for trouble.

  • IS THAT BETTER THANE A 308 AND 556 AMMO

  • Nice rig! stick with the stock trigger! Its more durable.

  • Nice rig!

  • no FMJ

  • 6.5 has some kick ass power, supersonic up to 1200m dang, more accurate than .308 too.

  • Where did you find the custom engraved dust cover? Also do you handload for your Grendel? I am having a hard time getting my to chamber. AA has the upper and investigating it.

  • @daywalker627- You can go to the Beowulf forum and do a search. The guys name that sells them is Steve. Great guy to do business with. Yes, I do handload. Are you loading new or once-fired brass?

  • @Salemlax22 Thanks for the reply. I joined the forum last night. I am loading both once fired lapua/wolf as well as virgin Lapua. All same problems. I sent back the lee dies and exchanged for the hornady. Hopefully AA will be able to give me some insight. They thought maybe it was a bad reamer, but now they are not sure.

  • price ? i want to invest in one after i seen it in shotgun news

  • I just received my overwatch upper the other week from midwayusa. AA told me there was a 14 week back order. So far I love it. I have my lower finished, just waiting on a stock. I live in Dublin and shoot at the blacksburg range BTW...

  • it is true that for sniping decreased grain ammo is better because of its better ballistics?

  • there are three types of ballastics; internal, external, terminal.

  • higher grain = higher bc, longer, less influence from wind, until you hit a point of diminishing return where the bc doesnt carry it more then the velocity loss of using a higher grain ammo

  • i love my grendel!

  • very nice rifle- mind showing a vid of u shooting it?

  • Look at my other videos. There is one on there. I have a video of my Beowulf with some 300gr Frangible bullets that I need to post as well.

  • Nice. Is that the 1 in 9"? And it shoots the 130 grain bullets well? Have you tried 140 grain bullets in there?

  • Yes, 1 in 9" twist. The Swift bullets did shoot well, as did my handloaded 129gr Hornady SST's. I have not loaded above 130grs. Unless I was to do suppression work, I won't go above 130. The optimum weight is around 115-120gr.

  • Sweet riffle, u may want to look at the rock river 2 stage trigger before you decide what you want to go with, its really nice and only $ 120 on their websit

  • I looked at those. I actually have already installed the Alexander Arms, single stage Tactical Trigger on this lower receiver.

  • How is the recoil?

How would you compare it with an standard 5.56mm, 6.8mm or the 7.62mm?

  • I would say in between the 5.56 and 6.8, more comparable to the 6.8 though

  • I fired three 30rd. mags through my wife's RRA LAR-15 in under a minute. Upon removing the bolt carrier we found the bolt to hot to handle. Repeating the same procedure with my POF-415 we found the bolt warm at best. The fact that the piston system doesn't dump as much heat into the BCG as does the DI system means longer service life to me. Not to mention how much easier the piston rifle is to clean after shooting 300rds of Wolf through it. Heat & dirt kill.

  • Really nice rifle. I want to buy a upper in 6.5. I can reload so maybe that will be fun to use this round.

  • Pistons are useless...

  • how much is ammo for this thing nowadays?

  • Same as its always been. Just hard to find, as is EVERY other caliber.

  • sweet gun dude i am going to be buy the new AR-57 upper and i also have been thinking about geting 6.5 grendel upper how much did it cost a where did you get it.

  • I bought the rifle directly from Alexander Arms. When I purchased it, the complete rifle was $1,500. I believe the Overwatch upper receivers are running around $900 right now

  • Very nice rifle you got there!

  • WOW, what an awsome rig, congrats!

  • are you going to buy a suppressor?

  • is it piston rifle ?? and How much was it !!

  • I have not converted mine to the piston system yet. I do have plans for that in the future (when the price goes down). When I bought the rifle new, it was $1500 without accessories.

  • You won't need the piston system. I have owned 14 AR15's and never had a problem. I had 3 jams in 15 years. That was with crap wolf ammo not the guns fault.

  • thank you for taking care of your shit

  • How much per box

  • i want one,but i got a 6.8

  • Hey man,

I REALLY want one....is there a "military-style" 20 inch barrel/upper available anywhere? I want it for "service rifle" matches at 300 yards. THANKS!

  • check MidwayUSA. They carry several different uppers. Alexander arms sells a few barrel combos as well. If you are patient, you can custom order a match barrel from Satern.

  • Dude, thanks for the info. I'm getting excited about this build.

  • Do you know if the same accuracy could be acheived using the 16 or 19.5 inch barrel?

  • nice grouping man! what distance?

  • 100 yards

  • i need to know how much did that gun cost? i cant find a price online

  • alexanderarmsDOTcom

  • one question;

Can any AR-15( in 5,56) be combined with any upper!?

    For example;

    Can "S&W M&P T" in 5,56NATO I wish to buy

    be combined with

some other upper in 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 SPC

or even in 7,62x39mm and .308 Win!?

    Do you understand a question!?

    Thanks!

  • yes. all except the .308. That caliber is on an AR-10 platform and you would need a dedicated AR-10 lower reciever.

  • thanks

  • nice gun, but what is the difference between an ar15 and an m16, i thought they were the same

  • google search it...to much to type about history, design, etc. on here

  • what do you hunt with it....

  • Haven't hunted much with it yet. Been mostly getting loads dialed in. I load 90gr TNT's for varmints/small game, 120gr TSX's for deer/bear, and 123gr Lapuas for impressing people with tight groups at the range. There are great factory loads as well. That's what is nice about this gun, you can load just about any .264 bullet from 80 to 140 grains.

  • i have the same thing, they pack a punch dont they

  • Man....you should have bought the Robinson Arms XCR in 6.5 Grendel instead ! A FAR superior weapon. Better ergonomics and the ability to change calibers.

  • OH really? This is an AR-15 chambered in 6.5 Grendel. You can change it to any caliber that will fit on an AR-15 lower reciever. Your XCR (as I have seen, not familiar with this) only has .556, 7.62x39, 6.5, and 6.8. There are atleast 29 different calibers that can be used on my AR platform, not counting the wildcat cartridges. If you own one of these, I would love to compare the two to see which is a "superior" weapon.

  • Can you put this upper on a standard .556 M4 lower?

  • you can put the upper on any mil-spec AR-15 lower reciever

  • YEAH REALLY...Let's see: can you operate the charging handle of the AR while still keeping your eyes/shooting position on target - NO ! Does the AR have an Ambidextrous Bolt Catch - NO ! Does the AR have a free floating barrel - NO ! Can you put a folding stock on the AR - NO ! Does the AR have an adjustable gas system (do you even know why this is important) - NO ! Does the AR come with a Piston Driven recoil system (again do you even know why this is important) - NO ! I could go on and on....

  • haha, are you kidding me? If you are concerned with working the charging handle, get a side charging handle. YES! mine is free floated if you would open you eyes. Folding stock, probably not, collapsible, YES! Adjustible gas block, YES! Piston system, YES! and yes I know why they are all important. Please do "go on and on" because you have proven nothing.

  • well we are so happy for you

  • Can I operate the charging handle of an AR while keeping eyes/muzzle on target? Yes, but why would Ineed to?

Ambi bolt catch? Patriot Ordnance and KAC SR-15 lowers want a talk with you. Free floating barrel? Almost EVERY AR manufacturer offers at least one free-floated upper. Folding stock on the AR? And why would you need one? We have plenty of exceptional collapsibles - and if you REALLY need that folding capability, there's the LR-300.

  • Continuing reply to savagecub: Adjustable gas system? Does the Noveske Switchblock mean anything to you? What about JP Enterprises' adjustable gas block? Piston guns?

    GAS PISTON AR?!

SURE! BUT WHY IN ALL OF HOLY FUCK WOULD YOU WANT A FUCKING PISTON AR?

Drink some more of the Kool-Aid - direct impingement ARs will always remain the superior system, no matter how much the marketers and the ignorants have told you how the short-stroke piston system is so much better.

  • very nice!

  • freakin sweet nice rifle

  • I can build you a very accurate rifle if you wish. Just tell me what kind ranges you will be shooting at and whether you plan to hunt. With load development we generally see 5 shot 1/2 groups at one hundred yards. If you hunt a great all purpose round that we have had great luck with is the .300 WSM. We have hunted deer and elk with that round and it works very well.

  • I wish I could buy guns like that where I live,God damn pussy ass california lawmakers

  • You can... Get one that has a Non readily detachable mag. :)

  • Nice rifle, a little long for my taste tho. been thinking about getting the Super Sniper scope for while but we'll see.

    Happy Hunting

  • 6.5mm rules. I love my Swede!

  • 6.5x39 is not similar to 6.5x55 in any way other than the bullet. The length is important because it can fit into an AR15. 6.5 Swedish is old and been trumped a few times over by other calibers. Though, it is a classic.

  • pretty cool. Similar to the 6.5x55 Swedish. Its a rifle not a gun.

  • That's not a .7" group.

  • I assure you that the best 5 measure .3" and the entire group is .8".

  • Great looking rifle and shooting bro to bad it's so expensive to shoot and reload !

    Best,

    yls

  • those are so fucking sweet

  • Whats just the rifle go for from alexander arms. I've been looking at the overwatch for a while now.

  • Well the uppers are actually in stock at Midwayusa right now for $860. I bought the whole rifle for $1500 from AA because I wanted the matching lower reciever, but any mil spec lower will fit them

  • Thanks

  • Longevity of the cartridge would be my only concern, Awesome rifle though.

  • I was worried about that at first. Wolf just came out with its second offering, and a third will be here by fall, Fiocchi is also on board as of recently as well. I believe this cartridge is here to stay.

  • Awesome gun!

  • hey i was wondering where you got the Super Sniper scope, and Harris Bipod from. I just bought a 6.5 and im looking for some accessories..

  • Super sniper is exclusively through SWFAdotCOM. Really good company to deal with, also got my butler creeks from there, as you can see on my later video. Got the bipod through walmartDOTcom....free ship-to-store so no shipping charges, plus I get a discount

  • How well do the 130 grain bullets do on accuracy?

  • I haven't tested the 130gr Scirroco's yet. I only have 1 box of loaded ammo and I didn't want to shoot it up before hunting season. A guy I talked to said they do fairly well out of his 19.5" rifle. I imagine they will group fine, as all of the loads have so far. I will be working up some hand loads with the 123gr Lapuas and 90gr TNT's in the near future to see if I can get those even tighter.

  • I think that may be the only thing that keeps me from a 6.5 Grendel upper is the ammo price, and not having the place or equipment for reloading. . . . or the expertise. I've read too many "bad stories" about the Wolf ammo, and the rest of it is pretty pricey, for a semi-auto loader.

  • how much does it cost

  • as I said on one of my other videos, I am about $2200 into it right now

  • Sorry, no speakers, so if you said it, then I couldn't hear you...Thanks.

  • that was 100 yards right after the break in was done

  • What range did you shoot that grouping?

  • I have a 6.5 Grendel SPR Rifle built on a Cavalry Arms MKII lower receiver. Barrel is 19.5" Alexander Arms upper with Larue 12.0 free float monolithic rail and Leupold MkIV MRT scope sitting on a Larue SPR mount.

The rifle is a dream to shoot. If you are thinking about the JP trigger, I highly recommend it. I have one sitting in my SPR build and another sitting in my DCM AR.

  • I have those same scope rings! There alright. The cheapest thing on my rifle, I wish I had bought better ones. My leupold and RRA have great potential and I find my groups walking off the target from trip to trip....I know the rings are to blame. Ill get new ones soon. Anyways great AR man! Good groups.

  • The rings have done well for me so far. I have since added a scout rail to move the scope forward and give more distance between the rings. Did you lap your rings when you got them? This is usually a must on the Burris Tac rings or they don't have a firm hold. I also added a tiny bit of loc tite to the screwes so they wouldn't back out on me once I had it sighted in
