this is the first ever program i saw of Mao about 5 years ago....ever since, she has been my favorite figure skater and she never ceases to amaze me <3

I believe 3A has to be three and a half revolutions, but her 3A seems like two and a half revolutions, which is 2A...but she didn't get downgraded :( I think the ISU has to be more strict on these cheated jumps.

@0607timgo then, of course if we think as you do, Carolina Kostner, Yuna Kim, Mirai Nagasu and every other skater with a double axel should be awarded like a 1/4 axel? sounds logic

@0607timgo you idiot you keep saying that everywhere. learn axel jump needs prerotation and it absolutely counts even tho it turns on ice. use your brain a little and watch others. every single skater prerotates when axel. yuna's 2 axel has only 1.5 revolution in your description. and mao's 3A in this vid has at least 3.25 revolutions in the air. she landed after 3.5 revolution is completely done. looks she even rotated a little too much. have a good eye.

It starts off with "Waltz of the Flowers" and then goes to "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy," but I don't know the theme it ends up with. Another part of the nutcracker, I assume.

Mao has already had the elegance and beauty in her skating since that time!

I do hope that we can see her smile like that in the coming Olympic season. Your fans will be right behind you no matter how the judges score your performances. Go for it against the harsh punitive rule! Your skating is art!

Midori's triple axel has more power. However, the best of all of them was Tonya Harding's in her warmup. (See "Tonya Harding warmup triple Axel" in the Related Videos.) Tonya's not only had the power and height, but she was also perfectly vertical in the air, and to top it off, Tonya's effort looked just as effortless as Mao's. The best triple axel ever. Too bad it didn't count for anything, but fortunately it was captured on video.

Mao's triple axel is very nice, but if you watch Midori's or Tonya's (but especially Midori's) and see the height and power they had and then watch this it ends up looking kind of feeble :(.

that is true, i think Midori has more strength, and (not to be mean) but Mao doesn't look like she have the strength in her body to do a real good triple axel.

p.s. i still love Mao Asada!!!

I just watched Midori's and it's true it doesn't compare, her's must be at least 4 feet off the ground, but mao has a certain grace and elegance that midori never quite mastered.

I totally agree. Midori's 3-A (and Tonya Harding's, as well) is explosive whereas Mao's just seems effortless. Like a dragonfly dipping softly onto the water surface.

And I suck at metaphors :)

She has beautiful jumps...lands them so lightly. Its as if she were flying through the air. So much potential as she is only 15. However, I she needs to work on her hand positioning and artistry.
