@SalAngRob You neglected the precursor of my quoted statement - La Raza. I do NOT remember ANY school (50's/60's) EVER having a SEPARATE History/Ethnic class. ONLY World History, US History, Civics (related to US Law), etc. WTF??? OK to teach "you are oppressed - rise up and overthrow the government"? What ever happened to the "American melting pot"? The fact is the name "Mexican" and, more broadly, "hispanic" is equated with human trash. Why? Because such people (Mexians/hispanics) have earned this reputation. I'm 62 and I can tell you that Mexicans = low "culture", gangs, graffiti, littering, shoplifting, no speaka englas, fatass kids, high school dropouts, welfare leeches, food stamp leeches, parking cars on lawns, all around filthy cockroaches. And my teenage grandkids say, "Mexicans... how GROSS!!!!".

And might I point out that ANY "history class" (ethnic or not) should NOT (in Our Country) put ones PAST in the face of the PRESENT (not very "progressive" is it...). African American cultural classes do NOT propose that they are NOT American, now do they?
