Haha, I was just thinking about what would happened if someone left with the camera just before seeing the end... Have you tried the very cheap Sony WCS-999 that sells for about a 100 bucks and id there a big difference?! One more question. Do you know how much a T3i sells in Thailand as I'm going to Asia in a month, thanks
well, within 30 feet..the azden is definately fine...I am sure many people would not go beyond that range for their type of video...so these people give it good review..make sense...
I think the guy who "stole" the camera looks Caucasian to me. Not that there are no expat thieves, but what's the mathematical chance of some random expat walking by to steal the camera? It is a funny and expected end to the video though.
Friend, sony wireless lavalier microphone in an environment such as at a party in a closed environment where people pass and pass the signal from the sony goes well? not broken out the audio?, please could make that ordeal, I want to buy your microphone provided that captures the signal quality, uncut, please answer me, greetings from Peru
You can hook up the 2 mic's at the same time! You can buy a Y connector from Radio Shack 1/8" male mono to 2 1/8" female mono and use both mic's at the same time... works great! The Azden WMS-Pro has 94db SPL and uses crystals in the transmitter and receiver instead of synthesized audio chip used in other wireless systems.
You must have had a bad battery in your test. Azden WMS-Pro vs. Sony UWP-V1. The Azden WMS-Pro why out performs the Sony UWP-V1 in distance and sound quality. The fact of the matter is Azden WMS-Pro has 94db SPL and uses crystals instead of synthesized audio chip used in Sony UWP-V1.
Cute ending. Yea, folks...if you value your camera...REMEMBER: security first, last, and always. All my mics are Sony - they're great. I use their handhelds, lavs, and shotgun. For more information on the Sony Wireless mic shown in this video, check out this video from Sony. Getting Started with Sony UWP Wireless Mics
Hi, great vid... Defiantly will consider the Sony now. On another note, did that guy really try and steal your camera lol? How did you manage to get it back, seeing as u have uploaded the video. It made a good end to the clip :P
I read somewhere that the Sony UWP-V1 model has a Minimum range (i.e it doesn't do well when the transmitter and receiver are in a small room together) have you experienced this at all? Any other cons to the Sony model? Any feedback is much appreciated.
@maxnepstad I haven't experienced that. If you check out my other videos I have many where I'm in a small room talking to the camera and the sound is clear. Check out watch?v=d91lrpkLZHQ where I'm in my hotel room in Tokyo, sound is good. Only con I can think of it that it does go through batteries faster than the Azden but that's understandable given the extended range.
This guy's video shows the Azden in the same type test and he get's out to almost 200 feet without any cutout and it still sounded great... I don't see how you were only getting the WMS-Pro to go 20'
@siamesepuppy It was because of that video that I bought the Azden but my results from day 1 were nothing like his. I've since heard from many others who claim to get both great and bad reception so it really seems to come down to each individual unit, so maybe I just got a defective one.
the ending= why a 200 ft. microphone isn't always a good idea :) great video demonstration. but I'm thinking i'm gonna go ahead with the azden and buy some rechargeable batteries that $500 is alot to swallow
Great video. I especially like the surprise "cinema verite" ending. This really helped me choose between the Azden and Sony models, which were my two finalists before I even saw this video. Convinced me to go ahead and invest in the Sony, despite it being 3X the price of the Azden. Really appreciate you posting your insights, as there aren't a lot of "recommendations" out there it seems for "prosumer" mic systems...
@mattbdupre IMO you won't regret getting the Sony. It's range and clarity keep surprising me with how good it is. If you look at my recent Flight of the Gibbon video the cam could pick me up easily between platforms 100 - 200 feet away. It really opens up a lot more options for filming.
LOL funny ending. I am not sure, I saw some other videos about Sennheiser EW 100 G2 and G3 , I feel it has better quality over this one by sony.. I am still not sure about that, maybe you tried the other mic by Sennheiser and give us a quick review ? Thanks for this video.
DUDE!! that was seriously cool and funny. Thanks anyway, ive been curious as to what to buy for recording a little research project i have to come and do on Thai Buddhism for my masters degree, and your advice about gear is fantastic!! Thanks heaps.
great video, but i wonder one thing about this microfon when you shoot a clip, you never need to go that far away.so its the question for you must have it.
maby the first one is only for close to the camera.for journalists.and the other one for movie's.
@djquintos you may never need to get 200 feet away from the camera but having that extra range does open up a lot of options for filming. Keep in mind that this was tested in a clear field with nothing in between my and the camera. When filming with the Azden even being across the street with all the traffic and buildings in the way produces horrible audio, while the Sony is crystal clear.
I have the WMS-pro and it sucks major dookie. Like he said, its only good out to around 30-40 ft. and even then it is fuzzy.

sometimes I like to use a handheld mic for interview. Can I plug in a dynamic (or condenser) mic to the Transmitter input (Mic and/or Line)?

bad mic it's omnidirectional. If you're just interested in voice stick to unidirectional.
