It's about both! mr. Lacey attended a christian school and (he said this himself) that he felt as if he was struggling with his own faith, so he wrote this song. This song can be interpreted from different point of views

I find it sad when people don't believe and are searching desperately to find joy, but I can't force people to believe. I can, however, be a success story to those who are unhappy - God has brought me everything I need. I am an atheist - I don't believe in god(s) - i fully accept the possibility of a god - i just dont think it likely enough to worry about, just like unicorns, and goblins, ghosts, devils etc. If you dont' believe in god(s) you are an atheist -- it really is as simple as that.
It's not really important about the difference between agnosticism but it makes for a nice debate. Too many people believe that atheists deny god(s) can exist - we don't - we just are not convinced by the evidence.!

-Theism Is the belief in at least one god that is ompnipotent and omnipresent, the all powerful stuff, and is present in the running of things in our own relm of existance. A- is a term placed in front of a word as a term of negation. Atheism is the rejection of traditional Theism. The disbelief in god falls under that catagory but is not all it encompasses. If god doesn't exist, and someone believes in god, and dies, your right they lose nothing. However they spent there lives devoting time and effort into something ridiculous. I understand some people need to believe, but to believe blindly is ignorant, and that is what every religious person is ignorant. There is not 1 scrap of proof that god exist, and for no reason should religion have so much power in politics. My goal is for people to think for themselves and not believe something irrational.

I don't think It really has much to do with that at all.
I mean I'm not an expert but what I take it to mean is that the writer of the song has done a lot of bad things. So now he is questioning himself and wondering whether there is any way he can be forgiven for them. He is expressing his guilt over actions he has taken. Even though he does this using Biblical references I don't think the song is truly about his views on any religion.

well, I think if someone's never heard the second part, only the first, then they get a different feeling than if they listen to the whole thing. hearing the second part my snap them out of the trance the music in the first half plays. all the screaming and yelling really ruins it depending on what mood you're in. I mean to me the best part of the song is the guitar, but only the mellow gentle sounding part. that's why I like this vid more'n the full ones. depends I guess
