i never saw the exact number of polar bears between now and 1950...because in 1950,there was i think 800 polar bears golbal and there is now 1000,or is it bacwards... i dont think so,mabe im rong...no sorry,5,000 in 1950,and 25,000 tooday. incresed,yes. decreased...put it together yourself.

Yes its true population is growing which ironically is part of the problem- as the climate changes have created melting ice and a decreasing habitat and lack of food etc.

This whole thing about, "Polar bears are on that one last block of ice but the facts,(and I know I don't have cute song to sing along side my comment) just released by NOAA last week are that the polar bear ice shelf, the ice the sea ice shelf is at the second largest point it has ever been, unprecedented growth in the last year.

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service estimates that the polar bear population is currently at 20,000 to 25,000 bears, up from as low as 5,000-10,000 bears in the 1950s and 1960s. A 2002 U.S. Geological Survey of wildlife in the Arctic Refuge Coastal Plain noted that the polar bear populations may now be near historic highs.

Sarah Palin has sued the federal government to have the endangered species protection removed so that oil industry can drill in artic refuge. For those of who you contest that there are MORE Polar bears therefore they can't be endangered then you are sorry but ignorant to the issue that their HABITAT is changing and disappearing

In the 1970s, the polar bear polulation was 5000,
Sadly, the number is 25,000!!!!
They are endangered from over population some time in the future.
So If You See polar bear, fill free to kick the living CRAP OUT OF IT.
Stop the over population
Global warming is just a myth.

I agree there should be synergy- the petition is simply to vocalize to US Interior secretary- not to join WE campaign. Thanks for your help and passion Sheree.

I signed your petition but object to joining the WE campaign why it is not part of an existing coalition (WWF, etc) it is not accountable (who owns it, what are its finances etc). I am tired of holistic sounding organisations which spend all their time creating themselves and not joining together.
