Simply put, I don't have enough faith to be an atheist.
When it comes to things like the origin of the universe, even the Big Bang and the way our planet is set up, they have to exercise more faith by saying it was all natural forces or a result of chance.
That, and their arguments for moral relativity, your truth and my truth, etc. are so Illogical that it makes a sane person flinch. They fall flat in the face of truth. It is the blind leading the blind.

@WholeArmour No ! I am not glad ! why should I be ? He gives us 1 life, with infinite punishment or reward for our finite actions here. This belief is beyond belief !!! There is no simetry in religion either. To think that an all-powerfull and all-knowing being would send satanists and those who despise god and worship satan to hell, as well as atheists and agnostics, that are not really aware of what is going on, but use their Brain ! instead of their heart, THAT IS BULLSHIT !
You have misjudged me. I don't believe people are doomed to hell forever. I completely agree with you; that kind of belief is unreasonable. It does not fit the image of a God who created us because he loved us. I think God wants you to use your brain. I believe his plan takes more into consideration than this finite period on earth. You will eventually have your evidence, whether soon, or later, or much later.
@WholeArmour When will I have my evidence ? After I die ? I like the fact that every miracle and evidence and all that, lies AFTER we die. That alone shows how fake religion is. I recently read a christian article that told about a little old lady, who spent allmost all of her life, living in some jungle, with wild animals, and praying to god. And at the end it said : "So we can see, that there is never enough when it comes to god" God may not exist, but religion sure does a lot of damage.
@Yamakoto120 I am simply saying that, if there is God, then you will eventually get your evidence. I agree that there are some people that are so heavenward bound that they are no earthly good. There are also plenty of people who don't believe in God who waste their lives in useless, selfish pursuits: "Let's drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die." An argument can be made that, because there is no God, there is no purpose, thus I will do what I want regardless of who is may negatively impact.
@Yamakoto120 Conclusions of evolutionary scientists are that religion thrived because it helped people survive longer. In other words, people involved in a community religion were more likely to survive and multiply. So, science would suggest that you join a religion just to increase chances of surviving longer. You can make scientific theory say anything, just like you can make religion say anything. That is because the basis of scientific theory is philosophy.
@Yamakoto120 I think a better way is for us to just try to get along, and stop spewing hatred toward each other. It isn't religion that destroys people's lives. It is fear and hatred. Some religions thrive by spreading fear and hatred. Other religions thrive by spreading tolerance and love. Some atheists thrive by spreading fear and hatred. Other atheists thrive by spreading tolerance and love. More people will listen to you if you take the latter approach?
@WholeArmour I think atheists spread reason and logic ! It is our inner selves that spread love / hate. As a belief system atheists spread reason. As a belief system religion spreads fear and lies.
@Yamakoto120 I've known plenty of atheists who don't hate people for there beliefs. Reason and logic suggest that you will never remake the world in your own image, i.e., religion free. Reason and logic suggest that attempting to verbally beat religion believers into submission is a waste of your time. Reason and logic suggest that taking religious freedom away from people will lead to you losing your freedoms. What reason and logic are you spreading? I havn't heard any logical argument, yet.
@WholeArmour Well... when arguing with theistic beliefs I should say, the atheistic view point offers logic and reason. Don't you agree ? Because the belief in a divine being is irational. Actually, what I am trying to say, is that an atheist can be a born skeptic. And skepticism is what holds us back and ask questions.
@Yamakoto120 Skepticism is good. Asking questions is great. Some would say believing in aliens from other planets is irrational. And yet, there is some logic that supports this possibility, though no one has ever seen an alien. In addition to being a Mormon, I am a scientist. I have asked lots of questions both of science and of religion. For what my religion does for me, my questions have been answered up to this point. I cannot say the same thing for science, and I can give many examples.
@Yamakoto120 For anyone to think that science, philosophy, or logic will answer all of their questions is irrational. There are some things we will never know for sure. That does not stop scientists from making theories. Theories are good, because they expand our minds, and some good comes out of this, when practiced responsibly. The same thing can be said of religion. I would suggest that, from a scientific perspective, the reason anyone does good deeds has evolutionary roots in religion.
@WholeArmour Yes, we can never know for sure annything, but a scientific analysis of the world around us offers a perspective to us, as close to real as possible. How can you say the same thing about religion ? Religion does NOT expand our intellect. All it does, is make us dream about the paranormal, that will never happen. It is like an alcaholic drink, the more you drink, the more drunk you become, "Happy", and your judgement, fades, to the point where you fly planes into buildings. So no !!!
To the mormons: Jesus and the apostles did leave jeruslaem and the middle east to visit the lost Tribes of israel, however they ended up finding their way to the "North west isles of the sea" Jer. 31:10, Isaiah 49:12 this is were the bible says the israelites will migrate to. Jesus and his uncle Joseph of arimthea came to these isles and set up celtic christianity in Glasdonbury, England.
I do believe in god btw, but i am not religious. i dont think god would favour any religion and i just dont believe that a good god would want to be worshipped. i think religion is all about men getting the better of other men and women
yeah sure i do. depends what you mean by god. not a white bearded old white guy sitting on a cloud, seems to be the popular cartoon of god in peoples minds, nor jesus. but just a force of creation, or even a bigger universal picture. that is what god means to me. and it makes me happy. religion is a man made thing. we dress up god in chrisitan clothes and try and force each other to see god like that.
we all have a right to believe or wonder about 'god' its our human right, religious or non religious, and i believe 'god' is not a chistian, muslim or jew. but that god wants us to evolve, get on with our destiny as people and stop holding his hand all the time, and expoliting and killing each other in his name
you can find the same comfort and security that religion provides in truth and reason.
trust the inevitable process of life and death, cant we all just find happiness in the knowledge that as far as we can prove, what happens to us, happens to all of us.
i find comfort in that. we should stop thinking about it and live our lives, think our own thoughts.
reason and rationality offers optimism too. answering questions we might not understand for another million years is walking in boots way too big for us. so lets just put those questions in the closet for now and enjoy our lives ; )
Wow. Who knew Evangelicals were such cowards. They pick on Mormons by standing in front of their places of worship and yelling things out but I bet they'd be too chicken shit to stand in front of a Mosque and do that. What cowardly rapists they are!
The reason I say that Christians are rapists is because Fundy Christians use their Bible, their God, and their Jesus like a penis by trying to jam their beliefs, and their rules down everyone else's throats. Being proselytized to by a Christian leaves non-Christians and other sects of Christians feeling dirty and raped and when they are finally able to break away from them, feeling like they need a shower.
Sorry, you missed the "point". Pat is not going after "evangelicals" per se but those who believe in an invisible being who punishes or rewards us depending on whether we worship him. In your case, add belief that God directed a farmer to tranlate gold plates but when he lost the "translation" he then stuck his head in his hat and using a magic stone, dictated the BOM. Please read that sentence with a straight face. Good try but no cigar.
The following has been copied/pasted from Wikipedia's article on the subject:
"The Euthyphro dilemma is found in Plato's dialogue Euthyphro, in which Socrates asks Euthyphro: 'Is the pious (τὸ ὅσιον) loved by the gods because it is pious, or is it pious because it is loved by the gods?'
In monotheistic terms, this is usually transformed into: 'Is what is moral commanded by God because it is moral, or is it moral because it is commanded by God?'"
Thanks. I try to look at al sides as I can. I also try to do what I can to make a better world. After all, here we are, we better take care of this place, and each other.
Human Nature is flawed. There are loads of versions of Christianity. Maybe the creator hasn't spoken with anyone yet and is just watching what 'asses' we make of ourselves.
Loving enemies? Don't Mormons in the US army go out to kill their enemies? Afghanistan, Iraq etc
It's and ideal that won't be achieved unfortunately.
Until Jesus returns (if thats is true) then its going to be a confusing unjust chaotic world.
I can understand why you like to engross yourself in church.
I don't think you're getting the point. How many of his videos have you watched?
He dis-likes all forms of organization that persecute freedom rights of all people, which tends to relate closely to the actions of religion.
Hell doesn't exist, if Pat watches this video he'll turn it off half-way through... more research is needed. You keep repeating yourself and you are rambling. You are proving no points, relating to no specific events, and your using too powerful of words out of context
If he chooses to turn it off, it's his loss. So much for being open minded. No problem for me. I made my points, and will continue to do so, he will make his.
BYP, I forgot to add, I have every confidence you will be forthright in you're appraisal of where to cast you're pearls, which I must confess, why I have a tendency to be brought to scorn, when you're detractor's come out of the woodwork. I also will try and be a little more (turn the other cheek) diplomatic with people, and try and limit my disdain, to the attack against God, and not his people.
Thank you BYP, for you're witness. Those born of the Spirit are like the wind. Faith is a little like explaining the wind too. Believing In Things Unseen Is Not Delusion.
I'm an Atheist, and have on more than one occasion been moved to sympathy for a Mormon who was under attack by the lunatic rantings of an angry evangelical.
I thought Ted Haggard's (former head of Evangelicals in America) bunch got to decide who Christians are because they are such good people who live the Bible so well???
Heh.... I don't recall mentioning Santa. Is your attention span that short? The things or the concept, Pat is wrong, in my opinion, as I am in his opinion. God, to me is real, and I practice that.
Actually, anyone who bothers to do a smidgin of study understands that myth tells of the underlying *reality* not a fantasy. But I can see you are comfortable in ignorance, so I shant worry about ya. Your declaring I Live an illusion is pure arrogance. YOU learn well from the Christians don't you...
Hey! I have an idea! Since you presumably have the holy spirit leading you into all truth, and you already seem to know a lot about me presumably through that power, tell me more about how little I know about christianity, then we will check that against the facts.
It's not often you get to demonstrate the power of your holy spirit like this.
So, go ahead. Tell me more about myself...or was your "knowledge" of me based on arrogance rather than revelation?
But you should realize what is at stake here. This will reveal at minimum whether you actually possess the holy spirit as demonstrated by your true assertions, and show that you also are not arrogant which is contrary to the fruits of the spirit.
It also brings the foundation of your faith and holy book into question.
I have testified to you. You are free to accept or reject. If God wants to demonstrate, then He can and will. If He allows you your freedom to reject testimonies, that is also His business.
If you have any good arguments against the Book of Mormon, bring it on. One at a time, I shall be more than happy to discuss issues with you.
Since you presumably have the holy spirit leading you into all truth, and you already seem to know a lot about me presumably through that power,
BYP:
Show me where I ever proclaimed that I know all about you from the Holy Spirit. I honestly don't know you from Adam anymore than you know me.
The Scripture says the Spirit bloweth where ***IT*** will." I have no control over whether it influences me. It is not up to me to demonstrate anything. I testify, not demonstrate.
Then it was arrogance after all! Without revelation or evidence you implied I'm ignorant of your faith! You have not the fruit of the holy spirit. How can you even make such videos in the name of jesus?
I have not declined your chalenge. I have said if you have something against the Book of Mormon which you say is false, bring it on, and I shall see what I can do to help you understand it better. Read the Book of Mormon and follow its admonitions, God will do the rest. I have declined nothing here.
Again.... you keep bringing up a subject which I positively have never even mentioned. I cannot possibly fathom you thinking this has anything to do with anything I talked about. Can you keep on track?
Belief and faith, yes. Santa is irrelevant to Jesus, so far as I last checked. Maybe in your mind you think the analogy fits, but I don't, so your analogy fails to move me. Sorry to disappoint.
That's interesting. When I told the santa believers that their faith had the same lack of credible evidence as christianity, they said the very same thing.
LOL! Whatever floats your boat. It's so nice to be able to be lawyer, judge, and jury all at once and be able to make a judgment when it suits your purposes. You crack me up man. Thanks for the laugh.
I am done here also. My job is to testify, and I have done my job. I believe in Jesus the Christ, and the Gospel he taught us in all scriptures he has revealed, no matter from what quarter. I am a very blessed man because of the Gospel. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Claiming something is a myth without proof, is just as much a myth, (hoax, fallacy, unscientific rhethoric) as the one the one you are trying to debunk. The shelf life of you're theories on religeous myth, are likely just as tedious as the next guy's supposed diatribe.
Claiming that bigfoot is a myth I could not do...unless I had studied such claims in depth.
I have studied the claims of christianity in depth. I spent a considerable amount of time arguing in favor of christianity.
As you know, claims of bigfoot and god come with the burden of proof on the claimant. I can legitimately wait for their evidence without providing my own.
As you know, claims of bigfoot and god come with the burden of proof on the claimant. I can legitimately wait for their evidence without providing my own.
BYP:
Yes, I agree. The key, for me was reading and learning as much as I could about the Book of Mormon and follow its teachings. Practice what it says, and you can find out for yourself. Alma 32, and all that jazz.
This is the secret behind any extant religion; force the inquisitive to invest time and energy until they have such a sufficient vested interest that they would be embarrassed to abandon that interest even when faced with contrary evidence or lack of evidence.
Yes, dadgum parents of mine forced me to go to school too. And that father of mine, forced me to get a job and learn how to work and be a useful member of society. Dang it man! Juswt DANG IT MAN!
Now you are obviously correct that mere babies, children are forced to go with their parents. My what a powerful irrefutable point you make. Oh why couldn't I have seen the rather obvious. Poor abused children, always being forced into everything by bad, evil parents who should just leave them alone.
Yeah! That's CHILD ABUSE!!!! Evil parents!!!! Forcing kids to come and stay inside home after dark, instead of wandering the streets all alone. EVIL parents not letting those innocent little children play in busy 5 lane streets! Those poor kids, mere children, who obviously can live life on their own with no help from meddling parents, are sooooooo abused! FORCED to live rules orbe punished. HOW absolutely AWFUL! Oh horrors! FORCED to eat their vegetables! I can't imagine......FORCED I tell you!
Yes, it did seem odd that 'thebackyardprofessor' actually denied this. However, it was very clear to you and I, was it not, omiolo1. I'll let you handle 'thebackyardprofessor's fallacies next time.
Yes....... right back at you. I have my emotions absolutely perfectly under control here, I assure you. I have no questions to ask you. I testified, and you came on here talking about Santa for whatever reason when I was talking about Jesus. The disconnect.... I say the disconnect here is obvious.
When a blind man asks himself, I wonder if the sun is out today? He, at least, has the good sense to go outside and see if he can feel any warmth on his face.
Sorry, being a Canadian I tried to mix it up a little. I'm usually a little more colloquial, with smug, pompous, self important, philosophical windbags.
"tedious shelf life" "supposed diatribe"? As in how long will you're crap stick to the wall before it dries up, or it just falls off. Likely just as(tedious)unbearably long as you proclaim Christian myth to be. Diatribe, as in rub away ad nauseum on something that can't be proven
It's getting to the point where I might even take that kind of sarcasm as a complement. "LDS aren't Christians." More and more, I'm starting to like the sound of that.
Why is when those who argue against the reality another's faith, and are repaid in kind, they immediately validate the very proponent they argue against, by inferring they are "UN" whatever they were arguing against to begin with, like all of a sudden, it actually has some merit. Why not just say I want cake, and I want to eat it too.
I know how it feels...the warm fuzzies you feel when bad men like me 'persecute' you for your incoherence, the indignation you feel when confronted with real evidence, the satisfaction you feel when thinking about how bad men like me will someday...someday meet divine justice.
Warm and funny is last thing I feel when I run into a wall of BS. As for justice, I haven't the least idea what awaits you in the hereafter. You're guess is as good as mine.
I know how it feels...the warm fuzzies you feel when bad men like me 'persecute' you for your incoherence, the indignation you feel when confronted with real evidence, the satisfaction you feel when thinking about how bad men like me will someday...someday meet divine justice." interesting point of view..
So as to avoid drunk commenting, since we all know blog jargon is king, and you have a peeve about it, I'll sum up the above comment with one sentence. I am as smug as the bug in the rug I am attempting to unweave.

@WholeArmour I think atheists spread reason and logic ! It is our inner selves that spread love / hate. As a belief system atheists spread reason. As a belief system religion spreads fear and lies.
Yamakoto120 2 years ago
@Yamakoto120 I've known plenty of atheists who don't hate people for there beliefs. Reason and logic suggest that you will never remake the world in your own image, i.e., religion free. Reason and logic suggest that attempting to verbally beat religion believers into submission is a waste of your time. Reason and logic suggest that taking religious freedom away from people will lead to you losing your freedoms. What reason and logic are you spreading? I havn't heard any logical argument, yet.
WholeArmour 2 years ago
@WholeArmour Well... when arguing with theistic beliefs I should say, the atheistic view point offers logic and reason. Don't you agree ? Because the belief in a divine being is irational. Actually, what I am trying to say, is that an atheist can be a born skeptic. And skepticism is what holds us back and ask questions.
Yamakoto120 2 years ago
@Yamakoto120 Skepticism is good. Asking questions is great. Some would say believing in aliens from other planets is irrational. And yet, there is some logic that supports this possibility, though no one has ever seen an alien. In addition to being a Mormon, I am a scientist. I have asked lots of questions both of science and of religion. For what my religion does for me, my questions have been answered up to this point. I cannot say the same thing for science, and I can give many examples.
WholeArmour 2 years ago
@Yamakoto120 For anyone to think that science, philosophy, or logic will answer all of their questions is irrational. There are some things we will never know for sure. That does not stop scientists from making theories. Theories are good, because they expand our minds, and some good comes out of this, when practiced responsibly. The same thing can be said of religion. I would suggest that, from a scientific perspective, the reason anyone does good deeds has evolutionary roots in religion.
WholeArmour 2 years ago

You believe in God but are not religious? I truly don't comprehend that.
TheBackyardProfessor 2 years ago
yeah sure i do. depends what you mean by god. not a white bearded old white guy sitting on a cloud, seems to be the popular cartoon of god in peoples minds, nor jesus. but just a force of creation, or even a bigger universal picture. that is what god means to me. and it makes me happy. religion is a man made thing. we dress up god in chrisitan clothes and try and force each other to see god like that.
fluentinsound 2 years ago
we all have a right to believe or wonder about 'god' its our human right, religious or non religious, and i believe 'god' is not a chistian, muslim or jew. but that god wants us to evolve, get on with our destiny as people and stop holding his hand all the time, and expoliting and killing each other in his name

Dont be hurt. or antagonised.
you can find the same comfort and security that religion provides in truth and reason.
trust the inevitable process of life and death, cant we all just find happiness in the knowledge that as far as we can prove, what happens to us, happens to all of us.
i find comfort in that. we should stop thinking about it and live our lives, think our own thoughts.

reason and rationality offers optimism too. answering questions we might not understand for another million years is walking in boots way too big for us. so lets just put those questions in the closet for now and enjoy our lives ; )

Wow. Who knew Evangelicals were such cowards. They pick on Mormons by standing in front of their places of worship and yelling things out but I bet they'd be too chicken shit to stand in front of a Mosque and do that. What cowardly rapists they are!
sexydeadanimal 3 years ago
The reason I say that Christians are rapists is because Fundy Christians use their Bible, their God, and their Jesus like a penis by trying to jam their beliefs, and their rules down everyone else's throats. Being proselytized to by a Christian leaves non-Christians and other sects of Christians feeling dirty and raped and when they are finally able to break away from them, feeling like they need a shower.
sexydeadanimal 3 years ago
Sorry, you missed the "point". Pat is not going after "evangelicals" per se but those who believe in an invisible being who punishes or rewards us depending on whether we worship him. In your case, add belief that God directed a farmer to tranlate gold plates but when he lost the "translation" he then stuck his head in his hat and using a magic stone, dictated the BOM. Please read that sentence with a straight face. Good try but no cigar.

TheKitXune 3 years ago
I don't know about it. Could you fill me in? Thanks.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
The following has been copied/pasted from Wikipedia's article on the subject:
"The Euthyphro dilemma is found in Plato's dialogue Euthyphro, in which Socrates asks Euthyphro: 'Is the pious (τὸ ὅσιον) loved by the gods because it is pious, or is it pious because it is loved by the gods?'
In monotheistic terms, this is usually transformed into: 'Is what is moral commanded by God because it is moral, or is it moral because it is commanded by God?'"

Aha! *very interesting!* Thank you. I shall go re-read the Euthyphro and come back and report!

He dis-likes all forms of organization that persecute freedom rights of all people, which tends to relate closely to the actions of religion.

Your definition of 'persecution' is laughable, and trying harder to live consistent to the rules of santa does not make him any more real.
Pat does not condemns the 'things' of god. He is condemning the concept of "god". The point is that god not real. Practice that.
Are you asking Pat and others to discontinue dissuading others from belief in myth?
Once again, it is your delusion, not your hypocrisy that is the problem.
philstilwell 3 years ago
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
Santa, to children is real.
Tell me more about myself...or was your "knowledge" of me based on arrogance rather than revelation?
philstilwell 3 years ago
But you should realize what is at stake here. This will reveal at minimum whether you actually possess the holy spirit as demonstrated by your true assertions, and show that you also are not arrogant which is contrary to the fruits of the spirit.
It also brings the foundation of your faith and holy book into question.
So, go ahead. I'm ready...
philstilwell 3 years ago
I have testified to you. You are free to accept or reject. If God wants to demonstrate, then He can and will. If He allows you your freedom to reject testimonies, that is also His business.
If you have any good arguments against the Book of Mormon, bring it on. One at a time, I shall be more than happy to discuss issues with you.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
Philstilwell:
Since you presumably have the holy spirit leading you into all truth, and you already seem to know a lot about me presumably through that power,
BYP:
Show me where I ever proclaimed that I know all about you from the Holy Spirit. I honestly don't know you from Adam anymore than you know me.
The Scripture says the Spirit bloweth where ***IT*** will." I have no control over whether it influences me. It is not up to me to demonstrate anything. I testify, not demonstrate.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
Then it was arrogance after all! Without revelation or evidence you implied I'm ignorant of your faith! You have not the fruit of the holy spirit. How can you even make such videos in the name of jesus?
Are you an impostor? Is this a farce?
philstilwell 3 years ago
You've declined my challenge.
Once again we find another 'christian' hiding behind convoluted theology, unable to demonstrate the power of his 'god'.
How pathetic.
philstilwell 3 years ago
I have not declined your chalenge. I have said if you have something against the Book of Mormon which you say is false, bring it on, and I shall see what I can do to help you understand it better. Read the Book of Mormon and follow its admonitions, God will do the rest. I have declined nothing here.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago

I challenged you.
Are you accepting or declining?

philstilwell:
Santa, to children is real.
BYP:
Again.... you keep bringing up a subject which I positively have never even mentioned. I cannot possibly fathom you thinking this has anything to do with anything I talked about. Can you keep on track?
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
Google "analogy".
philstilwell 3 years ago
I deal with the subject direct. Your inability to do so however, is not my liability.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
Our conversation is about belief. Introducing Santa as an analogy is surely not straying. Or did I miss something?
philstilwell 3 years ago
Belief and faith, yes. Santa is irrelevant to Jesus, so far as I last checked. Maybe in your mind you think the analogy fits, but I don't, so your analogy fails to move me. Sorry to disappoint.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
That's interesting. When I told the santa believers that their faith had the same lack of credible evidence as christianity, they said the very same thing.

I am done here also. My job is to testify, and I have done my job. I believe in Jesus the Christ, and the Gospel he taught us in all scriptures he has revealed, no matter from what quarter. I am a very blessed man because of the Gospel. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
Claiming something is a myth without proof, is just as much a myth, (hoax, fallacy, unscientific rhethoric) as the one the one you are trying to debunk. The shelf life of you're theories on religeous myth, are likely just as tedious as the next guy's supposed diatribe.
canadianbacon007 3 years ago
Claiming that bigfoot is a myth I could not do...unless I had studied such claims in depth.
I have studied the claims of christianity in depth. I spent a considerable amount of time arguing in favor of christianity.
As you know, claims of bigfoot and god come with the burden of proof on the claimant. I can legitimately wait for their evidence without providing my own.
philstilwell 3 years ago
philstilwell:
As you know, claims of bigfoot and god come with the burden of proof on the claimant. I can legitimately wait for their evidence without providing my own.
BYP:
Yes, I agree. The key, for me was reading and learning as much as I could about the Book of Mormon and follow its teachings. Practice what it says, and you can find out for yourself. Alma 32, and all that jazz.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
This is the secret behind any extant religion; force the inquisitive to invest time and energy until they have such a sufficient vested interest that they would be embarrassed to abandon that interest even when faced with contrary evidence or lack of evidence.
philstilwell 3 years ago
You of course mean fallacy, when you say evidence.
canadianbacon007 3 years ago
Utter tripe and you know it. NO one in Mormonism is *forced* to read or believe in any of it. We are free to come and go as we wish.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
You're right. "Force" was too strong. Change that to "strongly encourage".
The point remains.
philstilwell 3 years ago
No, hold on. I do recall that some parents force their children to go to church and read the scriptures. It this true in your faith?
philstilwell 3 years ago
Yes, dadgum parents of mine forced me to go to school too. And that father of mine, forced me to get a job and learn how to work and be a useful member of society. Dang it man! Juswt DANG IT MAN!
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
So I was right when I said people are forced to develop a vested interest. Why did you argue against that point in the first place?
philstilwell 3 years ago
Now you are obviously correct that mere babies, children are forced to go with their parents. My what a powerful irrefutable point you make. Oh why couldn't I have seen the rather obvious. Poor abused children, always being forced into everything by bad, evil parents who should just leave them alone.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago

If you'd like to respond to my point, respond to my point.
If you'd like to ask a question about my point, as a question about my point.
Do not, however, evade the point by suggesting I made none, or by employing playground insults.
If you can't control your emotions in this type of discussion, admit so, take a break, and come back when willing to dialog rationally.
philstilwell 3 years ago
Yes....... right back at you. I have my emotions absolutely perfectly under control here, I assure you. I have no questions to ask you. I testified, and you came on here talking about Santa for whatever reason when I was talking about Jesus. The disconnect.... I say the disconnect here is obvious.
