  • Like I would follow your steps.. I lick my blood after I check mine. It was 26 on Friday.

  • Why would you need a band aid ? just apply pressure to the finger with a dry cotton ball and the bleeding should stop with in a few seconds.

  • I actually wash my hands and dry them completely before I use the blood Glucose meter, vote thumbs up if you do it too.

  • this guys a mega queer.. so annoying.

  • fuck using alcohol swab. gtfo here..

  • alcohol swab before pricking is now discouraged.they said it alter the results.

  • Thnak you very much !!!!

  • no need to use a band aid. just clean out the drop of blood with a small tissue or piece of bathroom paper

  • I like to wear a helmet when I test.....just in case.

  • @bloozedaddy lol!

  • Okay you said wipe your finger with a acholol wip, but then after that you were toughing everything with that finger. So it kinda defeats the purpose!

  • you forgot to wipe out the first drop

  • omg this is to funny! you put a band aid on it omg! that weird! when you test 10 times a day like i do you dont put 10 band aids on your finger! lol

  • alcohol swabs is what you use

  • How can you determine the thickness of your fingers? Trial and Error?

  • @zolega89 it doesn't hurt if you have the depth setting set to what is right for you. It can start to hurt if you always test the same finger though

  • Wow, I have to test my blood six times a day (minimum) and it takes me like 30 seconds I never use sterilising wipes or band aids, maybe I'm just too lazy lol.

  • Why didn't he mention gloves? And why didn't he use a different side of the alcohol wipe when he cleaned the lancet cap? There's no point in cleaning the cap, if you use the same side for your finger.

  • does it hurt?

  • Just discovered the FDA recommends not squeezing the finger as it may affect the results, who knew? Apparently massaging the area in advance works well. The video is at the same link as above except replace the last bit: v=SghSbXA4Rjg (see the comments for the rationale).

Are these instructions for new health care workers in a clinic? If so, makes sense (but should be wearing gloves); at home I wash/dry hands vs. alcohol, don't use a bandaid and each lancet is used multiple times (on me only).

  • alchohol wipes! band aids! we have the wonderful NHS here ! we get none of that!! the british goverment USES carers, it counts onthe fact that you will not allow your loved one to suffer and it pays you a pittance to look after you loved one, saving the taxpayer thousnds per patient, but dosesnt even give you basic employment rights like a HOLIDAY but counts you inthe in-work total! to add insult to injury it dosent even give you decent equipment to work with!if we gav up 2morow u would b stuffd

  • bandaid? ...i use a multi clix... WHOA!!! WTF!!! next person??? I share my lancing device with no one.

  • TBH way dramatized... if u wanted to use disposable pricks then use one that is designed for it.. this is a waste also alcohol wipes and a band-aid?

  • dumb video.

you can wash your hands with warm soapy water instead of alcohol wipe.

you can use a lancet for as many times as you want (recommended 4 times, then it gets dull)

don't use a bandaid, if your finger bleeds afterwards you should be concerned about thin blood.

You can wipe your finger on your pants, wash it under water, or hell even lick it off!

The most important is wash your finger with a simple thing called water BEFORE you poke it so you get accurate results.

  • Bandaids. HAHA.

  • i just suck mine up

  • @redstrat8 me too! Like I don't do it in the hospital, but in life I do it EVERY day!

  • Disposable lancet? You mean you throw them away? Haha... I use mine until they dull.

  • lol

  • @DelphinusMinor great way to increase risk of infection

  • @DelphinusMinor Lmao I do that to, but my Mom aways yells at me :)

  • i don't like that accu chek monotor im glad that i got the accu chek monitor that i got which is the verry first accu chek monitor well i think it is the first because i think it came out right after the one touch monitor

  • stfu

  • please leave this video now ! mature people are talking not chlidish losers who go to a video and pick a person at random who they don't know and tell them to stfu get lost loser

  • Mate i think this coolguy9996 guy is right. You need to stop your idiot rant and learn how to put full stops in the right places first. And we don't put a space and then put an exclamation mark as you have done in your reply.

I was about to tell you to shut the fuck up myself but then I saw one guy already had.

  • ok a. you don't tell anyone you don't know to stfu b. this is youtube and i have the right to comment on this video and c. i was not talking to nether you or coolguy9996 and you don't have the right to tell anyone you don't know stfu i have not done anything wrong to deserve that you and coolguy9996 should be ashamed of yourself for telling a lady to stfu a lady that you don't know

  • if you have type 1 and you do this before each meal thats like tests a day does he really expect you to use swab 3 times a day and put bandaids on 3 times a day...

  • @smiggle2003 You are right. Most Type 1's do not swab. Personally, I do not. I will rinse my hands to make sure there is no oils are food residue on them tho, but swabbing would only add to the entire process. There is also so much you have to do to manage it, adding steps is just plain depressing. Heh...

  • lol i dont do that... i dont use my alcohol swabs i just prick and test it and wip with a kleenex done

  • Bandaid...alchol wipe...wtf?

  • i never use alcohol. And i REALLY dont use bandaids! Im a type one diabetic and use a pump but i just lick my finger and off i go

  • I don't have diabetics. I did a test with a new accucheck aviva on empty stomach using 3 strips one right after the other with the same blood drop. The results were 87, 95, 97. Then I ate a box of chocolate candies, some cookies and 2 bananas, waited 10 minutes and repeated the test with 3 new test strips and new drop of blood. The results were 145, 117, 152 in this order. How can I trust it when it doesn't repeat the same result twice?

  • Very good point here. I have done two in a row and had the same results. But yours' are some wild swings.

  • @whez08

Three separate tests performed using the same blood sample will yield three different result. Unless you were able sample that same blood drop, three separate times, all within a few seconds, the results will always vary, significantly.

    Timing's everything.

  • band aid wtf no you just wipe or suck the blood off and you never ever share your lancet divice

  • Band aid ?? I rarely use a alcohol wipe because it affects the reading with the accu-chek aviva , do you really put on a band-aid every time you check your sugars ? I use the accu-chek aviva nano its much better

  • a band aid? okaaay.

  • jackylegs94 - im the same! suck the blood off the finger and thats it.

  • i never use bandaids or alcho thingies. I just CLICK my finger, lick my blood off and all... jeez. Even in kids hospitals there they dont use bandaids or alcho thingies

  • i dont use bandaids. i use a multiclix and you never EVER let anyone else use you lancing device

  • Do not, EVER, share this type of lancing device with other people. There are specific lancing devices for multi-patient use like Accu-Chek Softclix Pro or Accu-Chek Safe-T-Pro.

  • alcohol dries out the skin and leads to cracking and more painful pricks. and as for bandaids I just play vampire.

  • You fucking people who suck the blood are weird. Use a cotton ball, shit.

  • a band aid ? ... i dont use a band aid i just use it and lick the blood off my finger and then it stops running out O.o i dont use the uhh alchol swab thingamajigs either.

  • lol im a diabetic for 10years now and i dont do most of the steps ..band-aid??? what the hell??!!!!after checking ill just rub the remaining blood with tissue or just my shirt if im too lazy!

  • lol you're alot more germ safe than i am...lol i dont wash my finger before use...i dont put a band-aid on it and i suck the blood off my finger....o.O

  • thats pretty helpful thank you very much
