  • Shook me down to the core.

  • Soldiers should make more then sports players. Athletes get paid to play a GAME that they love when soldiers put their lives on the line for a country they love

  • SPC Russel Madden - 23 JUN 2010

SSG Vinson Adkinson III - 31 AUG 2010

    SSG Donald Stacy - 28 JUN 2011

  • i lost my great uncle in nam, never got to know him, but the part that kills me is knowing that my grandfather had to bring his body home, i don't know how i could handle something like that.

  • My grate-granddad sgt. U.S ARMY granddad LT. U.S ARMY dad ssgt. U.S ARMY 60 more days then ill be a private in the U.S ARMY GO ARMY

  • To all those serving in the US military: Thank you. Those two words cannot convey what is in my heart. I know you are tired, weary and worn, and all I say is thank you, and your sacrifice is never forgotten.

  • What about everyone else, those who die everyday, to protect people who they have never heard the name of. Those who die miles away from friends and family, and then the cause they died for is insulted by those who they died to protect. Why do they die? They die for our rights and for us to use them. These people should be our superstars and we should honor them.

  • I pray everyday that the soldiers come home. i've seen alot of things in my life i've lost alot of things but to know that at anytime troughout these qars that have been fought i could have lost many of the people close to me and i thank god everyday that my granddad came home from nam with his life though i can't say unscrared. if it wasn't for history i would have never know what war and i thank the soldiers now that are fighting or have fought. B/c they didn't have to

  • Ive had a family member in every war in this song and then some...grandpa wasa dog faced soldier in Normandy, Uncle was in Nam, and if im lucky ill be in Afghanistan before new years. OORAH

  • @RebelliousPatriot Are you training now?

  • @cindydintn Im waiting to ship right now. I have 45 days left.

  • I had to wait until my tears stopped flowing.

I am a Navy Vet and a CSA Civil War re-enactor.

Both sides of my family have served in almost every conflict.

I am damned proud that there have been brave men and women that have served since the first war for independence for our great nation.

I am also very glad that many music artists take the time to record proper songs to honor our military.

  • Only the strong survive, and many argue that America is strong, but in a way we are not, we must come together as a country, not a government, and find truth in what we do, and why. I love my future brothers, I'm a future Marine. You can ask anyone whose in the military or is devoted to enlist, we cant answer why we do it, we just have to. If we die, we die, its apart of a the job. But if that means I can save the guy next to me who has a baby to go home to and a wife, I gladly will.

  • Son there is never any peace, I hope they treat you better than they treated us. Rangers Led The Way

  • I have nothing against our troops but what was the point of fighting in Iraq? No weapons of mass destruction were found there. If there were any where are they now? Whats the point of shedding so much blood in Afghanistan if we still haven't found Bin Laden and stopped Alqueda? Those wars have practically broken this country's back financially and how are we going take of Iran now? Im scared 4 every American citizen and soldier because I'm not sure if we'll survive the next coming blow!

  • @lastswordfighter look we are in afghan and leaving iraq so there is nothing you can do about it just support the troops.

  • @lastswordfighter In answer to your question about our fighting in Iraq. Google "war is a racket" that will give you an insight into what most wars are about since time began.

  • yes, the religious right, should be praying for peace, not clamoring for war.

  • i have nothing but respect for the American fighting man!

  • Ive done two tours in Afghanistan and two in Africa. I'm only 21 now, at some point in my life i would like to see a little peace. This song reminded me that in the past there where those that felt the same. But till peace is found or won, Rangers lead the way!

  • RIP grandpa, dad, brother jess, sister pipper, and uncle Reachy. -Love brother and son of The Schwartz Family may my family R.I.P

  • I've loved this song since the first time I heard it. You did an excellent job on this video. Thank you for sharing it with us!! God Bless our troops and their families. May they make it home safe and sound to a grateful nation.

  • god bless any man or women that fight this land we call home and love so much! thank you all u r my hero!! god bless u all!

  • War such horrible to enter it and even you survive it you will take a piece of it with you haunting in your dreams. Fcked up world we live in.

  • Having served in the military for five years and been deployed to the Middle East, I listen to this song and it gives me chills. Such an amazing song. Brings back the memories.

  • Thank You to all who are and have served!!! I recently went to Washington D.C. and went to the Vietnam Wall!!! So many people lost and or dead. It was a touching moment thinking that all those men and women who died are on this wall! I will never forget them!! Thank You

  • I was in JROTC and just think you did a great job. Absolutly great, man.

  • litteraly the only country song i like

  • Such a touching song, makes me more inspired to be a soldier.

  • my uncle was n veitnam and got shot three times once in the head once in the thigh and once in the leg. luckily he made it home andlived another 20 years till he died from the bullet in his headthat they left go. R.I.P. Bruce

    (he was a marine)

  • Well done

  • It's always wroth it when you can come home and know your one of tha resons we're a free nation to know that most of the country stood behind you and ur fellow troop, hoped and prayed that you'd come back the exact way you left, even thought they don't know you.

  • @Sandi142012

All that have been over there are changed for life. I wish it weren't so. I wish i could be the husband and father i was before i went over there.

  • @kevinm5882 i'm sorry for all you've had to deal w/. i hope everything works out for you.

  • This one made me think of my Grandpa Kelley and Uncle Garth, who fought in Europe in World War Two, along with my Grandpa Sibert and Great-Uncle Jacob who fought in the Great War. It's because of men like them and those who sang in this video with Mr. Adkns that the USA is a free nation. God bless the memories of those who fought and fell, giving the ultimate sacrifice for the USA over the past two centuries plus, or came home scarred and bruised after the battles were over...

  • Thank you for remembering the SOUTH in this song!!

  • my heart aches because i have lost many a family member due to the brave services our country prevides to tose less fortunate. to those who say war isn't worth it then how do you live in this country hello war is what made America what it is today. What would have happened if we were still part of britan. Or if we didn't help in WW2 the german, japanese, and italian bastards would have won if we didn't help. Don't forget that Iraq is because the assholes bombed us twice then we retalliated. USA!

  • @TaylorFlatbushTV we didn't retalliate. Bush sent the troops lookin 4 wepons of mass distrution & O Sama. and we we did find him Bush was being stupid and did not bring our troops home. which y so many r dead. Yeah we're gr8 but this war means NOTHIN at all

  • Sandi142012

  • @Sandi142012

i would rather be fighting over there than over here. there are things that changed the reason why we are still in Iraq. We are now over there to help them from having another dictator like Sadam in office. His name is Al Sadar and he is more vicious than Sadam. If the people don't do what he says he will kill the entire family and do things that are at the most inhuman. The things I have seen I pray that no one here has to see them.

  • @Sandi142012 Why did not find bin laden, we killed hussein but bin laden is still in the mountains somewhere.

  • The chorus of this song is like my new personal creed. Hooah to all my Battle Buddies in the sandbox right now.

  • since your in the military i want to ask you something i want to join but im wondering is it worth it

  • It is. I did 10 years and damn proud of what I did. you will learn things in the military that cant be taught anywhere else. you will have a brother-ship that not even time can break.

  • Yes it is worth it. My dad and both my uncles were in the military and they would all tell you it was worth it.

  • @bostonbruinsfever

I'll stand and fight for this country any day, AGAIN. and if it means me dieing for the freedoms we have, I'll do that too.

  • @kevinm5882 *pats kevs back* i hear you brother, only the stupid and naive talk about dieing or difference ways of war unless i hear someone talk about killing for there country i have no respect for them but you proved you are my brother. About to do my second service and you know it really does it keeps me up i wonder what id be like if i hadn't left, i wonder the kind of son and brother id be. My GF Lianne is amazing id do anything for her, i wonder if id be a different BF then she knows

  • @spacegeneral Thank you for your service to our country. Words cannot convey how much your sacrifices are appreciated. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. We all wonder what it would have been like if we had made different choices (though most of ours don't have as dramatic of an effect on us) and I'm sure that your GF would love you just as much no matter what . Take care and God Speed. May you be back home safely in her arms very soon!! Debbie xxx

  • Very great song. Images went along great with it.

  • Beautiful music, tastefully and appropriately set to a backdrop of war images, throughout the years.

  • This is song makes my heart ache. I can only try to imagine how terrified the young men and women who fight in wars are. How many of the people who have died for some kind of peace are still waiting?

It's make me shiver, makes me want to cry.

  • To all American servicemen and women

"Sempir Fi, Good Hunting, and Cheers to a Happy Voyage Home!"

  • Semperfi!

    Oh Rah!

Thank you to every soldier and i hope you come home. Even if You don't you didn't die for nothing!

  • God Bless the USA and all are fighting troops those who fight now and those who fought and die for are freedom.

  • God bless anyone whose serves in the military, and may the politicians who send them off to die burn in Hell.

How many soldiers have died from an enemy bomb or bullet, compared to those who died because a politician tried to run a war?

  • This song is beautfully written and a great song but its sad in a way ]

May God bless all of those troops over there fighing for us i hope they come home safe and sound

And from the bottom of my heart i say thank you for all of the troops and for the real heros that died may you rest in piece

  • I like the ACM video the best. As said in the introduction "it is not about the war, it is about the warrior." I have heard that song many times and it still brings tears to my eyes.

  • Like i said in the last vid i watched of this, my friend's Cousin's in Iraq, the chopper was about to take off, he got shot in the leg. when he got back on he was shot in the back.......im still shocked he's alive.....

  • oorah

  • If this doesnt bring a tear to your eye your not a true American

  • yeah i agree

  • If this doesn't bring a tear to your eye; you ain't got a pulse.

  • Thanks for this video!!! The song is great. It means a lot.

  • Freedom is never free, it's won by sacrifice, and on occasion has to be fought to keep. I've found that I have family who has fought in every war, and every time I hear the lies made for the wars I feel it belittles them for their service. Many who've served have been disrespected, like loosing those who you've become close, the things you see and do is not enough on your soul, to come home to be shamed.

  • most excellent video Mr. Jones, thank you for sharing it. That is one of the most moving songs I have heard.

  • For those that fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know

  • do we ever come home?? i am still waiting

  • thanks to all the troop out there that are fighting past, present, and up and coming i hope to be a U.S. Marine or a U.S. Navy seal like my grandpa

  • This is so moving. I want to keep this so I am reminded each day of the blessings that all of us American's have and take for granted. The payment for our freedom is high and let us not forget those that went willingly to keep america free. Gob bless all service men and women and thank you.

  • God bless our troops! everyone of them. No matter what you believe in you should always support the people who defend our country.

  • my Father fought the Germans and the Japanese, he was at the liberation of Daccau, never would talk much about his war years, they came back home and couldn't even identify with anyone who had not been through what they had, I became an "expert" on WWII by reading books about it just to have something to talk to him about.....he was in line to invade Japan....told me I wouldn't even be here if they had not dropped the bomb....

  • god bless our military i will be joining right after i grat. from high school then ill go rotc or west point and ill fight for everyone includeing un greatfull son of a bitchs

  • wp graduation was saturday... those young men and women will be going to lead out troops knowing what a vicious war they are going into.... I can't imagine what more anyone could possibly offer in this world to us... I only wish they were more appreciated.

  • I can say that I am proud to be a female NCO in the Army. My boyfriend is also an Army NCO, and is on his way to Iraq, while my roommate is on his way to Pakistan. My boyfriend will join an endless list of people I know that are in Iraq. They all have earned and deserve your respect, even if you don't like what they do. Say thank you when you see military members. Regardless of why we joined, at the end of the day, what we do, we do for everyone but ourselves. Hooah!

    SGT Clemons

  • I cannot hear this song without getting choked up. I think of all those who've died while fighting for our country and others' countries. I think of those still out there waging battle today. God bless them all. Come home soon!

  • West Point on June 29th

  • We are the ones who fight and die so that others may live in peace.

    "Follow Me"

  • After ROTC, I'll be proud to join the brave soldiers that are already defending this nation.

  • This song is so right. My only brother is heading to Afghanistan this summer. My great-uncle was there on the first day of D-day. My great-great-great grandfather fought for the Confederacy. Great song!

  • This is truly a beautiful & strong song concerning the ones whom fought / died for the freedom we strongly believe in.Those sacrifices is what made us who we are.God be w/ them all.

  • I am the mother of a soldier in afghanistan and so very proud of him and his fellow soldiers. He just left today after spending 2 weeks leave with us to go back and I am once again scared to death .. Eric said he is just doing his duty for our country. I heard this song on the music awards and can't stopl listening to it. WHEN YOU SEE SOMEONE IN UNIFORM , NO MATTER WHAT BRANCH PLEASE THANK THEM AND TELL THEM HOW PROUD YOU ARE OF THEM. THEY ARE RISKING THEIR LIVES, GIVING SO MUCH FOR ALL OF US

  • For those who don't stand behind our troops you have the freedom to stand in front of them. We fight not because we love war, but because we love peace so much. We go over there to keep them over there. We remember 9/11. I come from a long line of women who have served this great nation, we know how we have made a difference,

  • support our troops. god bless every one and thank u

  • my grandpa fought in WW2, another in Korea, my great uncle in Vietnam, 2 cousins in Desert Storm and a cousin and 3 friends fighting in Iraq. Im proud to say im an American beacause that is why they fight for us

  • Let's not forget the other War in the Pacific.

  • i love how this song decorates the soilders on the US, i just dont have a feeling that it decorates the soilders who served the country they loved and cared for, like the Germans in WWII, the actual troops shouldnt be blamed, they were just following orders like any other soilder did for his country.....

  • I cannot type for the tears ! My Family on all sides have served this country each generation, as they were needed and called upon since the Revolution. Men and Women ! I was an Army "Brat" and a Marine Corps Widow. Please God, Bless our Troops, their families, and our Country, America, always remembering that we, the People, are America. Not the Government. Each of us are the "The Government".

  • what a song. it's so powerful. really makes you think twice about what you have, and what you're given.

  • I joined the Army in 74 to give everyone the right to say what ever they want. I look the other way on all who feel they need to put down anyone (forwhat ever reason). I have learned to love all beings no matter where your from and where you may to go. If we all could live this way there would never be a reason to hear that next shot fired.

    Retired.

  • love this video the song is so touching god bless all who protect our country

  • This is a moving and magnificent video. I am so proud of my men, from the Confederate Army War for Southern Independence, US Army WW1, US Navy WW2, US Army Vietnam, US Marines Afghanistan.

  • @RiverBirch1967 Umm im not trying to start anything but i dont really know if u realized this but rooting for the south isnt really a good thing ..... Dont get me wrong i am a southern boy also but african americans have served this country for a long time and im glad that the north won the civil war .. and also if you have ever read about the 8th of november a african american medical personnel serving the army saved quite a few soldiers ....(bless him) and he recieved a metal for doing so...

  • God bless every soldier serving anywhere in the world. We can't thank or do enough for you. I've had family members who served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, both Gulf Wars, stuff I don't even know about, and my daughter is marrying a brand spankin' new Marine. We're military from WAY back, & while I haven't served active duty, I DO support ALL our troops ALL THE WAY. I am forever in your debt and am deeply grateful. THANKS from the bottom of my heart, & THANKS Mr. Atkins & Glee Club!

  • To those who say negative things about our young warriors, It may be ur right to do so but understand who paid for that right. Ur comments show who u are not who they are. I served proudly as a US Marine during Vietnam, America's most unpopular war. War is unpopular(especially for the warfighter) but sometimes necessary. So say what u will because its ur right & because u can easily hide ur cowardice behind the internet, showing the world who u really r! God Bless our troops & those who lead 'em

  • god bless you thats what ive been saying god bless you for serving to my dad was in vietnam and im joining when i become 18

  • This is an amazing song, great job to the West Point Glee Club.

    Thank you all who serve

  • God bless America i love you Christopher stay safe

  • I have just heard this for the 1st time this week. I can't get enough. This is so haunting. We all know someone who died serving his/her country. Wow to think they would still be there in an afterlife. How troubling

  • I do not mean this is any negative way.

Unless you have served in combat, and had your friends die around you. You will never know.

  • The young Marine 1st Lt. in the intro is a true hero, though he has lost both of his legs, the Pride he posesses is common in our returning veterens. Notice the manner in which he sits up in his wheelchair, the confidence in his voice and the Pride he displays. THIS is what makes our warriors great. We as a nation would be in error if we do not Thank them for their service and selfless sacrifices.

    Semper fidelis,

    Dan H

    Sgt. USMC

  • god bless you and all our troops

  • Thank You and God Bless you too.

    PS:

    Semper Fi, Sgt Dan H

  • in about 5 years i can say the same

  • OOH RAH Sgt !!

Yes, The young 1st Lt. sits high and proud even with no legs. He is a hero.

I served proudly as a LCpl in the USMC back in 1985.

The soldiers going over there deserve our thanks and respect. I have had 1 brother, 2 cousins, and 2 nephews ship over for tours in Iraq since this started. Each has come home safe.

I pray that we all see our sons, daughters, and other family come home safe and unharmed.

  • Firstly, I would like to extend my heartfelt Thanks to the men and women of our Armed Forces. This is a tribute to the warrior, the young men and women who stand in harms way for each of us here at home. Many are bitter in their thoughts of this war, this is your right, a right that American warriors fight and die for.

  • I thank each and every one of the people that have and will fight for our freedom here in the U.S.A.. May God Bless everyone of you. It doesn't matter whether you went to war or stayed stateside. You ALL have my greatest admiration.

  • Organize a clothing drive in your community for Iraqis, please.

  • Thank you, all of our military, for defending our freedom! It is not about politics, or whether we are a Republican or a Democrat. I am thankful for the freedoms that I have here in the USA-no matter how bad it gets here, we are immeasurably more blessed here than in if we lived in any other county. God Bless America and our trips. I support our trips, and pray that Obama has wisdom in this an in other issues. God Bless the USA

  • It was such an honor to sing this with Trace and the other Cadets in the West Point Glee Club. thanks to all of you who do understand why we do what we do.

  • you did such an amazing job, i'm a cadet in my high school rotc. this song brought tears to my whole families eyes.

  • Thanks! The song is incredibly moving indeed!

  • My whole family has been lucky when my dad and uncle went to war but it made me think that other families werent so lucky

  • God bless your brother. I thank him, and your family, for his service to this country. I am sorry for your loss. He was my brother too as are all those who have served.........

  • this song is so sad it made me cry

i have lost my brother to the war and this made me really stop and think....

  • i dont think anyone can listen to this song without getting at least a little choked up. such a powerful song. thanks for putting this video together. it's amazing.

  • Thanks to Trace Adkins and the Marine Corp Glee Club for this powerful song. God Bless my son and all other sons and daughters serving this country. Please send them home soon....safe. I love you Zack.

  • A little correction, the West Point Glee Club (Army) is actually assisting Trace on this song.

  • I think the Road Hammers would do this song better but it's still great.

  • Wow. Just Wow. God bless Trace Atkins and whomever helped to write this song. God bless all of my brothers and sisters in uniform.

  • Such a great song and such a lousy bunch of wimps making this hideous remarks. Everyone doesn't go and those who are home and support the troops are just as much patriots as those who sacrifice so much. I got letters in RVN from my buddies and I loved them just the same even though they were home. And when I did come home they threw a party and helped me get on with my life. Thanks Trace, you honor generations who have served. Ignore the jerks.

  • ShiekUrBooty you are such an ass. you think just because we weren't there we don't care. well you're wrong. we all care and wish this to end but no matter how long it takes we'll always be sorry. so if you don't like the song then don't listen to it. but don't criticize trace adkins for singing it. cause its true. so shut the hell up while you're NOT listening to this song because it rocks. God bless all of our soldiers and help them get home safely.

  • Some Picture Iv'e never seen especially On D-Day. To ALL MY BROTHERS and SISTERS

  • you've got serious issues, son.

  • The tears just son't stop falling. What an awesome song and what an awesome performance at the Country Music Awards. We need to pray for our soldiers until every last one is home with their loved ones. I can never say enough thanks for all that the brave men and women of our armned forces do for us everyday.

  • So powerful. So powerful.

  • We fight not because we love war, but because we love peace. We love our country.

  • Comment removed

  • This is an amazing song. Thanks for the awesome tribute

  • please listen to the song and dont be so so angry at a really powerful man

  • Or you...

  • thank you for this great tribute , makes me tear up. god bless the troops

  • The West Point Glee Club is performing this with him at the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 5th. He was here at the academy yesterday to visit and practice with us a bit. It was really amazing. His voice is just so beautiful!

  • this song is awsome ..in the last 45 min the choir that sings my bro is aprat of ...he goes to west point...i miss him n love him very dearly..n i never want to go to the battle front...i cryed like a baby during this song

  • Can't believe there are people out there who cannot understand what these lyrics are really saying. It is not an anti-war song, it is merely an appeal for cooler, calmer heads on both sides with any war. Our soldiers are there to serve and do so valiantly until victory or defeat prevails, or compromises are reached.

  • its very nice...i like the choice in pics, sincerely "THE SNIPER"

  • amazing song one of his greatest

  • Way to go USMA Cadet Glee Club. (4:43)

  • SUPER!!!!

  • amazing song. very inspirational.
