Just because I listen to bands like All Shall Perish, or Emmure, doesn't mean I cant listen to Children of Bodom, Kalmah, or any other melodic deathmetal bands. Also, for those of you who like melometal, check out Ensiferum. they are a rly cool folk metal band. rock on guys

Ironically, Melodic Death Metal is musically superior to Technical Death Metal. Most bands are so busy trying to play difficult riffs they forget they're supposed to be making music. As a result, their releases are pure shit.

Bands like Arsis or Quo Vadis, on the other hand, manage to get technical without losing their melodic side, making them some of the most kickass bands in the genre.

I sort of agree. I'll admit some bands do make some shitty technical metal.. But you got to hand it to bands like Quo Vadis, and Arsis like you said, but Necrophagist makes some catchy shit, Decapitated's Winds of Creation is amazing... Um.. Psycroptic isn't too bad.

There are a lot melodic death metal bands that don't sound very good either. You are right, in the end it all depends how musically talented you are.
