I've never heard of Tavis Smiley (I'm Australian), but he's a fantastic interviewer. I've watched nearly every interview with QT about Inglorious Basterds and everyone asks the same questions over and over again. Tavis had a fresh take on it, and when he did ask a similar question he elaborated on it and gave us so much more. QT also seems a lot more settled with less nervous energy and laughter. Excellent interview :)

This interview actually gives you insight as to how Tarantino works and what makes him so great. Other interviews barely scratch the surface.

@red2lucas : I was pretty much gonna post exactly what you just said. So I'll just agree instead of reposting that. But yeah clearly the interviewer allowed everything to unfold more organically by actually listening to the answers and basing his follow ups on Quentin's answers, not what he had written down as "question #3" or whatever. Great interview.
