i just stumbled into jay ignacio's video of kali, im not martial artist but i admire is enthusiasm on bringing us back filipinos to our roots and reemerging in us that treasure we always have with us for centuries. this is something to really be proud of. one of the fma masters that i am so interested that i hope hollywood would look into his life is the founder of "pekiti-tirsia kali", negros born, conrado "tay dadoy" tortal, one of the greatest and perhaps forgotten?

hmmmm, many fma instructors do literally believe that magellan was killed by lapu-lapu. in fact, magellan`s death was well reported in Pigafetta`s report. he got wounded by an arrow before finally succumbing to his wounds inflicted by spears. and the natives`victory over the spaniards was due to the fact the spaniards were outnumbered.

@TWENEER5 excuse me, but the FMA is a rather new martial art. the spaniards taught the village people their fencing techniques and the villagers blended it with their unrefined combat concepts, thus, the spanish influence on our indigenous martial arts. read some books about the spanish jesuit monks who were former professional soldiers. it was indeed a whole lot more efficient (even from a monetary aspect) to train natives how to defend their villages against muslim raiders and chinese pirates

It's an invented martial art my freind..there's a lot of materials about the history of Yaw Yan in the internet...if search abit you will find out that thie matial art is quite new, incorporating a lot of the techniques from other "Traditional" martial arts all over the world...I can compare Yaw Yan to Jeet Kun Do, in the sense that both are new, invented by Bruce Lee and also incorporating different technicques from other martial arts...ayt?
