@bleusoup read more into a topic before leaving comments! chickens aren't endangered due to over hunting yet sharks are near extinction from over fishing as their population isn't regulated! if sharks become extinct the whole under water ecosystem will change due to the fact they are top predators yet the're classed as scavengers as they pick on the weak, young and old so get it right :) also shark fin is tasteless, it's the broth the fin is cooked in!

Wow, this video is amazing. Even fucking Bourdain, the connoisseur of foods derived from tortured animals, seems to be uncomfortable here. Telling an auditorium full of people, surrounded by fucking plentiful baskets of FRUITS and VEGGIES, that you want shark fins soup as your last meal -- it makes him twitch. I respect the movement Alice Waters has inspired but I resent her superior air and hypocritical last meal. Sad part is, she said it to sound worldly and impressive. So sad.

Oh and for those who complain about the price of organic, don't bother, it's a term used by the government which has come to mean more expensive. Do a little research and you will find that there is likely someone in your area who grown great produce well and sells it at affordable prices at a REAL farmers market.

Alice Waters is the definition of a "Limousine Liberal". She thinks everyone can afford expensive food like she can, has plenty of free time to cook slowly like she can, and can grow food year-round like she can.

Shark fin soup is the reason that millions that's right millions of sharks are killed unnecessarily every year. They are caught have only the fins harvested from them and then they are thrown into the sea.
