It's neither being greedy, nor brave.
Its just a simple bet with odds favoring you.
Average profit is (250,000+3,000)/2=126,500 and the offer was only 45,000.
It's like betting 42,000 on a coinflip, while your opponent is risking 205,000.
I would make that bet every time!

Calling it greedy was certainly a stretch, yes. It wasn't, and I may have even reacted to the game in the same way she did; but brave? No, it's absolutely not being brave.
If Youtube comments like that anger you that much, you shouldn't read them, they'll give you diabetes.

@Ben78177 if i have a choice between two amounts and am offered a buyout, i would at least expect to get half the amount, otherwise it's a bit of a rip off. No need for abuse. On American show, guy was in a similar situation. He could've gotten 1 million or 3k and he got offered 600 thousand. I see that as a good offer, because it's more than half the possible amount. No need to go on a commenting spree and make a twat of yourself!

This game is ludacris; you win some you lose some - that's the basis of the show. There's barely any strategy and it ends like it's the apocalypse of the world.

You would have to be quite hard up to accept an offer or £45,000 with a 50/50 chance of winning £250,000. And with the £3000 worstways, that in fact makes the offer £42,000 dirrerence. The offer should have been more like £95,000. Good luck to her for going for it.

My God, the UK adaptation is awfully pompous isn't it! The 'tense' music, the endless (not very) suspenseful pauses, Noel Edmonds pretending that choosing 1 option from 2 actually requires intellectual effort and considerable moral fortitude...
A little research reveals that this version is a full 50 minutes long and involves fewer boxes than some versions with a mere 30 minutes duration. Astonishing.
I'm glad I've never been compelled to endure a full episode of the UK variant.

@0ReVolta0 - Yes it is luck based... But there is a skill to being able to analyse what is left and determine new probabilities on the spot.
@pokerace87 - The dealer is not trying to be fair, the dealer is trying to win. There is a higher probability she has the 250,000 than the 3,000 so the question is will she swap - a quick psycological profile to guage probability of the swap, and then either buy out or undersell.

1/2*3000+1/2*250000= 140 000
so on average she would win 140 000 the offer is 45 000 .
