Our Air Force wasn't ordered to stand down. There were only 14 fighter craft on alert during the event. No network or alarm system even alerted NORAD to crisis. Even amidst all the confusion and false alarms and which planes were hijacked and where they were headed, NORAD still managed to scramble two F-15's from Otis Air Force Base and three F-16's from Langley Air National Guard base.

Copious plane debris was found near on the crash site. The plane crashed at an angle. The left wing engine struck ground and the right wing engine was tilted upward.

I will tell you a REAL conspiracy theory. The Pentagon, one of the most closely guarded and secretive institutions could offer up only one grainy video showing an object slamming into the building ( six frames). I know for an absolute fact that the Pentagon is surrounded by highly advanced surveillence systems. They could have shown us a better video, but they decided not to. The clip we WERE able to obtain was blocked for release until a FOIA request was ordered. Now that is a conspiracy.

14 aircraft on ALERT. That the total that were scrambled. As stated previously, the only information NORAD had came from telephone calls from civilian airports. The air controllers themselves couldn't be reliable. There wasn't a definitive task. So deploying every single military aircraft is pointless if you do not have accurate and precise intelligence.

The U.S. missile defense system was under decay. It was originally reformatted by Reagan to counter any possible ICBM threat and create a safe "blanket zone". However, this was left incomplete and no further attempt to solidify our air defenses was made by the Clinton administration. By the time of 9/11, it was a wet paper bag.

In any case, the air liner headed toward Washington was well out of SAM range when it crashed.

Untrue. I was a 97B Counterintelligence Agent. The importance of Human Intelligence ( HUMINT) has never changed. The only real change in doctrine was a shift away from focusing on HUMINT in favor of SIGINT, which is much less reliable.

How exactly does serving in combat make you more of an expert on this? The U.S. military is extremely diverse. Claiming you're a part of one small aspect (however commendable) does not give you omniscience over the entire institution.
