  • Thank you so much for sharing your experiences as a wedding DJ with brides and grooms! Great advice Brian.

  • sounds good bro...!

  • a'men! to this video

  • Wow Brian, it's like we were seperated at birth! This is almost word for word what I tell my clients, not because I'm trying to get another gig, but because it's what I feel they need to know! I offer free reception co-ordinating because I know I can take control and give them what they are looking for. I can't tell you how many photographers come in and say "they want to come in and cut the cake 1st". My response is "Really? Well, I met with the Bride this week and here's what SHE wants"!

  • I know you live in Wisconsin, but I was wondering if you know of any great interactive DJ's in Dayton, OH.

  • Brian,

Again, you have done an outstanding job! I am going to include a link to this video in the FAQ portion of my website if that is ok!

    Thanks,

    Jayme

  • Advice for brides & Grooms budgeting a wedding, especially in these difficult times:

1)choose your priorities & DO NOT skimp on them

2)remember the DJ controls the flow of the party

3)your guests will remember how the food was & how the entertainment was..thats it!

4)dont forget, if your DJ &/or MC did a great job, tips are appreciated

Thats all I'll put here. If you want to ask me questions, send a pm. My wife forced me to plan our entire affordable wedding last year & it came out awesome!

  • There are good and bad owner/ops as well as good and bad multi ops. The best thing you can do is check references or go to showcases. We used a multi op that we discovered from watching a friends wedding video. We got the same DJ and after checking them out at a showcase, we requested & got the MC we wanted. The flow of the night was exactly how we wanted it, like a club(not traditional). The MC and DJ were great and were happy they didn't have to play the same boring wedding songs.

  • I too will be posting this to my blog at fhpentertainment

  • As a multi op I obviously don't agree with this video. Reputation and references are what couples should check - That way they can weed out bad single or multi ops.

    btw I do no advertising.

  • Love this video Brian - I may replicate this for the English market with your permission

  • Sure, go with it

  • I posted a video response to this Video geared toward the DJ meeting the Bride & Groom for the first time wedding consultation. Great for newbee's of DJ's with less than 5yrs experience. Check it out on my channel. Again, great vid Brian.

  • Great video Brian I would highly recommend any of my clients to watch this video before they hire me just so they can hear the difference in the type of djs that are out there.

  • Brides / Grooms listen to this guy he knows what he's talking about.

    Great vid Brian!!!

  • Hey great video. Some great points made too. Multi Op DJ companies can suck my fat hog! Even if they are willing to pay the DJ's more than minimum wage, the personal service is lost. To the guys that run companies like this its ALL about the money and NOT the service. I make a great living as a single DJ. And when I have any over bookings, I give them to my other DJ friends and vice versa. I don't try to make all the money here. I like to feed everyone!

    IM ON YOUR SIDE BRIAN!

  • Where is the SOUND. Is it just me or did youtube take the sound off this video for some reason?

  • Nevermind, the stupid volume under the video was down for some reason, sorry.

  • Happy Birthday dude!! j

  • Good video brian....even though you were knockin me a bit as a multi op. Minimum wage? really? I pay my guys 50% of the job. Maybe that's why they do good, and are stil with me.

  • If you are running a quality opp, no worries. I'm willing to bet you are not the biggest add in the Yellow Pages and are not running 20 systems.

  • Simply put, cheap DJs are like cheap brake jobs. You get what you pay for. If you get a cheap brake job and your brakes fail and you hit a tree going at 60 MPH, it will most likely effect your life. If you get a cheap DJ, he shows up fails, plays bad music and isn't good overall, it will also effect your life. You will have to live with the fact that your wedding sucked for the rest of your life.

  • Not always the case

  • Bottom feeder DJs (the cheap guys) are hit or miss. Sometimes, it works out OK, other times, it dosen't. Do you want to trust Hit Or Miss on your wedding day?

  • This is not only an essential video for brides and grooms, but aspiring wedding DJs as well. One of the absolute best videos I've seen regarding this topic. Kudos, Brian.

  • I agree Brian. as an owner operator some times i find it hard to be a great business man. however i do know two things one once the cake is cut people start to leave no matter how great the dj is so try to get the dancing started before then and two if at all possible place the dance floor between the bar and the bathroom when possible.

  • this was awesome. great vid

  • Title was a bit misleading, at first glance but now on second glance, after watching makes more sense. Non the less very good video and informative :)

  • Great topic, was this a spur of the moment video or something you have been wanting to record for a while? There is a lot of great information for brides and grooms to consider and this is a great video is a great idea.

    ;-)

  • great video i agree!!

  • Very well put Brian.

  • This was fantastics.

  • I agree Brian. Excellent video.

  • AMEN Brian!!!! Top Notch Wedding DJ's are wedding reception planners! This was a great video! I will try to put up a video response to this video later this week, of "Do's and Don'ts or what honest steps to take to make sure you book your receptions. A++ Nice Vid!

  • Well put.

I've been working with an agency this past year or so and I think I prefer it. I'm not much of a businessman, more of a dj.

  • Me too. There are just too many things going on here on this end for me to handle the claricle end of things (contracts, etc). The agent option works well for me. I'd like to work with my agent on some new levels as well.

  • nice info

  • Great video, Brian. You hit the nail on the head. Several good points.

  • 10 out of 10 Bri. We should all have this posted on our websites.

  • Yes, I agree great video! It was very classy of you not even to say a price, but just give people a guide. Well put together!

  • CLASS VIDEO!! definently a great watch for the client

  • Great information!

  • Great video and excellent information! Very good points.

  • awesome video Brian, dead on accurate on all the information.

  • Thanks Brian, Great tips for brides. Finally! some one said it!! With the big companies with the minumum wage djs, they send our a representativr dj, not the master dj of the company! and with independant dj's they get the person they hire with passion & dedicatication! for future bookings!

  • I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of posting this on a local wedding facebook group on the discussion board.

    Great job!

  • this is great!!!!i showed this to my mom,(lol) and she has a bunch of friends who NEED to wach this!

  • Great info brian!!

  • some of the brides and grooms are on a very low budget and go with younger djs looking for experience

  • Yeah, and they get what they pay for

  • This is a video which MUST be translated into German...Great Tipp for everyone who search for a dj.....

    Greetings Vossi

  • Great info as always Brian. Thanks for the great info. :-)
