Yeah, what's interesting too, is that the colours are arbitrarily chosen by scientists. This is because many of the frequencies of light we use to study stars cannot be seen by human eyes.
So they just say... " Okay, the UHF light will be green, The Infrared light will be orange, The visible light will be left alone, and the X-rays we'll colour purple...." *nods*
And BAM! We get crazy images like this.
At other times they will chose colours that imitate cliffs and scenery on Earth.

i didn't realize that some pictures of space we see are the combination of multiple "views" of the same thing. very cool :)
