I remember the much more relaxing feel of the old Gloucesters. The sea green walls & deep red leather seats, along with the incandescent lighting, were much less stressful than the bright colours & fluorescent lights of the later rolling stock.

I also fondly remember the way the interior lights would blink off, then on, as the Gloucesters entered the stations. And the click of the doors as they shut. And the smell & whoosh of the tunnel air blowing in through the open windows.

The M-1s Retired in 1999 along with the H-1s. I completely remember that when I was 4. (1999) It's really sad, they were unique from the H-2s and H-4s.

I miss those G1 series red cars. Great memories.

Those M1 cars had really nice and soft blue seats, but were like an oven in the summer. At least the old red cars had windows!

The G series retired in 1990, and the M1's retired in 1998.

Did the M1 only go on the green line? Or did it also go on the yellow?

@canerder They were on both the YUS and the BD lines.

@canerder I hardly saw them on the Yonge University Spadina line. I remember the Gloucesters were only on that line, then they had the blue and grey interior H1s, if I'm not mistaken. Montreals tended to be on the Bloor Danforth.

@canerder I just remember the Montreal trains being on the Bloor Danforth line throughout the 80s and 90s. The Gloucesters stayed on the Yonge University & Spadina lines, then the next oldest trains were the blue and grey interior H1s.
