guys having trouble with the error running adb on your phone go to menu then settings then applications then development and make sure USB debugging has a green check mark on it

I downloaded the program and made sure all the files were successfully downloaded etc. and then after i open it, it never recognizes my phone, or is able to run adb. i attempted it anyways, and i got an error saying "error running ADB! please try again." any ideas? and of course i had debugging on, im not a dumbass. thanks.

@CMP27240 were you able to root htc shift?, what version do you have? maybe is the software version the problem, I do have Android 2.3.3 and same "error running ADB", were you able to root yours?

Beautiful. Had to use z4 Root to temp root, then this worked like a charm.

be sure to close htc sync if it is installed on your pc

@Omega7Gamer Yes anti-virus programs sometimes define being rooted a security risk....

@PurplePigeonz Try it again but for me i had to not reboot the phone after enghboot installed. i had to click on root then reboot the phone afterwords.

well nevermind I found the link for download on the forum! Now I wish I could get something like this to add roms my CWM never installs them and I have to do it manually but all Roms I have found still have something wrong with the Cy Mod doesnt even have the app market included well not when I flash the rom Thank You for this Tut!

Everything seems to be great, phone shows rooted and SU accepted "Unknown is super user". However, I'm unable to create or restore any WImax Backup files. PC goes through the motions, but no files created.

Also, even though phone says rooted, I'm unable to remove any crapware apps still.

What am I missing?

@sincap212 you need a 3rd party installer or un installer theres plenty out their for rooted phones i myself did not use this method i did the original method using visionary htc synch and a few files plus the sdk and adb commands X) for uninstaller i used system app remover ver 4.1.2 works like a charm , it gives full acess to uninstall regular and system apps. (disclaimer) if you uninstall stuff you dont know about you will brick your phone. search for a safe uninstall list (evo )

Did you make sure to enable "USB Debugging", It is safe to try and click root. It will not do any harm to the phone and has fail safe if something isnt right.

If it fails to restore both the original, or eng-hboot then you will just have to manually do it using the site.

mine doesnt say connected to device? just says shiftRR ready... is it safe to try the gui tool?
