Gay marriage is NOT the same as interracial marriage because nowhere in the Bible does it say that 2 people of different RACES can't marry. For those thinking,"we passed the interracial marriage prop 50 years ago,"STOP COMPARING THEM. By being so rude in the first place, gays led most people to vote yes. Stopping gay rights wasn't the issue, it was preserving freedom of religion. If gays are to have their rights, then religions are entitled to theirs too. Prop 8 made us choose between the two.

The Bible makes it abundantly clear that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16) and that reconciliation and forgiveness should be the marks of a believers life (Luke 11:4; Ephesians 4:32). Therefore, it's distressing that the divorce rate among professing Christians is nearly as high as that of the unbelieving world.
To protect marriage we MUST put a stop to divorce! Why ignore God's hate for this practice any longer?

Being fat is unhealthy, unclean (many obese people are unable to wash themselves thoroughly), and clearly sinful (sloth and gluttony are two of the seven deadly sins). Yet these people choose to live this lifestyle. They get married, have disgusting sex, & give birth to children who will likely also end up being obese. Is this a lifestyle that children should be taught as acceptable? Not that I have anything against fat people, I just don't think they should be able to get married or have kids.

That's the point, magoo, and why I used that word. The problem with that absurdly biased wording is that same-sex partnerships have all the rights of marriage in California. "Marriage" is just a word, a label. But your melodrama was still transparent enough for Prop 8 to pass in one of the most liberal states in the nation.

Dom Partners must share a domicile; not spouses. (CFC 297(b.1, c). After DP's death home values can be reassessed (meaning property taxes can skyrocket). Name changing of the female upon marriage is an archaic tradition that signifies the dominance of the male over the female. In a same-sex partnership, how is government supposed to determine who the "woman" is? You should have to get a court order if you really want to change your name in that case. And what big deal is that, if it is so important to you to distinguish the bitch of the relationship?

Dom partners must share a domicile? Wow. Who gets married and then doesn't intend to move in with their spouse? People who want a divorce very soon. Who gives a shit about them? You marry to become one, and you should share a household as part of that commitment.
Insurance and household economic concerns upon death? These are not explicitly stated, but if they are valid concerns, then your fight should be to amend those one or two things, not to redefine what a marriage is.

And as for interstate problems, why are you bothering Californians about it? Your fight is misplaced, and it makes your cause seem trivial. You have your rights here. If other states do not recognize your civil union / dom partnership, then THAT is where you should be fighting to gain those actual rights, instead of quibbling over a meaningless label in a state where you have your rights already.
