our country is a drug .. I feel that is sometimes ashamed of being Brazilian, because we do not take care of the Amazon forest. if we destroy it for it is no longer ours! it is of the World!
we all take care of her, not only us, Brazilians.
fuck our president, fuck the fucking, unfortunate Brazilian companies that destroy the forest in their own country ..
we do not want to lose the Amazon because of corrupt politicians and companies that only think about profit!
this is why capitalism doesnt work. people die cause of your greed. mass production leads to a destruction of our habitat. I'm already switching to alternatives, especially for energy. too many coal miners die for our electricity.
the large use of pesticides caused shrimps and other sea life to die in some parts of gulf of mexico. rain is washing away pesticides, that water goes to rivers and rivers into seas destroying your food. and then they laugh at us for supporting organic food.
oh and also, @ 00:29 "global warming is causing the amazon to die back" personally i think its 50/50 there, i think half the reason global warming is taking place is due to destruction of rainforests (1/3 of all earths rainforest has gone since 1900) .. they are massive when it comes to climate regulation.
deforestation + global emissions are pushing the earth to 'tipping point' and you know what? its ALL based around MONEY. we are destroying ourselvs because of money governments don't care about nothing else. Anyway... if all the worlds rainforest dies either because of deforestation and/or drought.... we are in a bad situation, maby one day you naysayers will wish you listened to Greenpeace a little more.
This makes me fucking sick and i mean it! rainforest is so diverse and takes millions of years to evolve to how it is, destroying it dosent just mean we loose diversity but also the rainforest is our lungs! we cant live without the rainforest... its time to stop this!
hey! could the one who posted this video kindly PLEASE contact me. Cause i need this for my geography project. So i want to have acknowledgement. But i need your help by sending me this video ?
600 freakin~fires a day... if that was really happening, the Amazon would be gone by now, already!
I'm from Brazil, and I know it... It would be unfair to say that the government is not doing anithing, for a third world country, they a trying the best they can.
And plus, the only thing you see GREENPEACE doing is trying to shock people... I have never seen them planting a single seed there in the Amazon soil...
No, we do not do nothing about it, we have just 1 IBAMA team working on fiscalization there, and they have limitated resources to do miracle, while disonarable President Squidwards have an airbus with jacuzzi, sauna, luxery seats, personal chef for the king's friends.
some guy at the start of this thread said " this is typical greenpeace BS- ie: "bullshit"- if you didn't say that i apologise for being misled when you started arguing under a different profile as if you were the person who started the thread. Anyway I'm not going to stoop to your level of personal attacks- hahaha I proved my point while you simply managed to get wound up - try using reliable sources to back up your arguments in future instead of broad generalisations and personal insults.
Just like Greenpeace, you expect every solution to be implemented the instant you think of it. Yet, you admit that "Brazilian amazon deforestation- including burn offs - is slowing" I have seen the same photographs and, unlike you, I have looked at the entire picture. What is replacing the forest? Many times, more forest or food crops. But to you, feeding human beings isn't really important.
...Its unbelievable how the people still want to ignore what s happening in the Amazon...Our forest is being destroyed...Our planet is in trouble...believe! I am Brazilian and I know it...Please believe ....Greenpeace is doing a great job.The planet needs your consciousness and help. Help Save the Amazon- Help to Save Planet now!!!!!
This is typical Greenpeace BS. I was just in the Amazon and not one word of this is true. As a matter of fact, the environment is so protected, tourists are restricted to walking on elevated walkways so as not to disturb the forest.
The roads the Brazilian government is building are to provide indigenous people with better access and it enable enforcement of existing environmental laws.

What is sad is how Greenpeace will exaggerate and even lie to promote their agenda. I too, live in Brazil and have been to the Amazon to see for myself. This video is a lie. Greenpeace could do so much good, but they have destroyed their credibility with their extremism.
Yep I'm sure indigenous peoples such as the Yanomami who have lived their self sufficient lifestyles for thousands of years in isolation from the rest of brazil need "better access" ( to what? )
You say "As a matter of fact, the environment is so protected, tourists are restricted to walking on elevated walkways so as not to disturb the forest"- you hardly seem in a position to make a broad generalisation as to the threats which 7 million square kilometres of forest face after having visited a tiny protected area of this vast ecosystem. Try googling "deforestation in Rondonia"- it sounds like the amazon rainforest was well protected there.
Finally, your denial that the amazon rainforest is being destroyed seems ironic considering a heroic brazilian -- chico mendes- died( well actually, was murdered) for the cause to save it. Or perhaps he died for the same bullshit that greenpeace seeks to raise awareness about.
The difference is, I am here and have been in the area recently. Unlike you, I know what I am talking about.
You are using conditions and events that happened years ago and applying them as if they were current. That's not surprising for anyone that believes the liars at Greenpeace. But you are undoubtedly a liar, too.
yep you have been in the region- maybe if you had made the effort to see a variety of places throughout amazonia you would be in a position to make a valid judgement- seeing one protected location in such a vast ecosystem is hardly giving you a representative view of its situation.
No i haven't been to amazonia but the evidence for my judgements comes from an unbiased source which has seen more of amazonia than any one individual ever possibly could have- Brazil's national institute of space research ( INPE ) . Their figures show brazilian amazon deforestation- including burn offs - is slowing but still occurring. The difference is with satellite photos they have seen every inch of amazonia -- unlike you they know what they are talking about.
You probably also think the vast acres of sugar cane grown here to make alcohol for fuel should be rain forest, too. That's more environmentally friendly than petroleum products, but you only see what you want to see. Further discussion is pointless. No intelligent responses are forthcoming from you.
hahaha thanks for putting words into my mouth- I never said that feeding human beings isn't important - nor do i think this. Now you're getting into the overall argument as to what the results of deforestation are- yet the original argument was over whether amazon deforestation was occurring at all.. and you have admitted that it is occurring now- glad to see I could convince you. And finally- your responses seem VERY intelligent: putting words in my mouth, calling me a liar and swearing.
When did I swear? Again, you make no intelligent response. And the original argument was that the rain forest was being totally destroyed within our children's lifetime. With your help (thank you) I have shown it is not. And yes, you ARE a liar. EOD
tehre is sustainable agriculture and unsustainable agriculture. It's different producing things on high yields and rotating crops around urban areas, than savaging more and more land for beef and soya production and leaving it empty when the cattle has ran over it.
Get ahold of your fucking country. If the elected government isnt going to do anything about this than the Amazon shouldnt belong to Brazil.

Do you have any idea how large Amazon is? It's almost as large as the continental USA, or Europe. Yet, the scale of destruction is enormous.
What Greenpeace always does, it's very correct in numbers. They always back up their data.
