This is typical Greenpeace BS. I was just in the Amazon and not one word of this is true. As a matter of fact, the environment is so protected, tourists are restricted to walking on elevated walkways so as not to disturb the forest.

The roads the Brazilian government is building are to provide indigenous people with better access and it enable enforcement of existing environmental laws.

Try googling "deforestation in Rondonia"- it sounds like the amazon rainforest was well protected there.

No i haven't been to amazonia but the evidence for my judgements comes from an unbiased source which has seen more of amazonia than any one individual ever possibly could have- Brazil's national institute of space research ( INPE ) . Their figures show brazilian amazon deforestation- including burn offs - is slowing but still occurring. The difference is with satellite photos they have seen every inch of amazonia -- unlike you they know what they are talking about.

tehre is sustainable agriculture and unsustainable agriculture. It's different producing things on high yields and rotating crops around urban areas, than savaging more and more land for beef and soya production and leaving it empty when the cattle has ran over it.
