  • aspartame is used in artificial sweetener like Splenda. Well there is nothing splendid about it, aspartame was discover first as a synthetic compound for pesticide.

  • Thanks for the info. Half your soundtrack is heavily distorted... either by having too much compression or the overall level is just too loud.

  • @LilOilDerrick whats your opinion on aspartame

  • @quantummandavid Sorry, I am only a chemist in training and I don't know much about aspartame!

  • @LilOilDerrick just because they're used in 'many many MANY household things' doesn't make them any better or safer. Most natural ingredients are more effective and safer than chemical ones.

  • @msbrice hey, of course not. But a good 95% of all plastics are made from petroleum, and while it's NOT good for the environment at all which isn't your argument, it's not toxic. That is unless it's burnt etc ( e.g. PVC produces PCBs, which are extremely toxic!!). Petroleum is also a natural ingredient, is it not? I may also add that the fumes from some untreated wood is also toxic if burnt.

  • @msbrice well i doubt anyone will ever be able to completely avoid this stuff, but one thing i have done is use oils on my skin insted of lotion. they help my skin stay moist longer, in the past lotions have essentialy dried out half way through my day. so that could cut my exposure to harmful chemicals by almost half!

  • @LilOilDerrick oh and swapping sodium hydroxide for calcium hydroxide...oh no! slaked lime is SO toxic!!!!

    Not.

  • aborted babies in cosmetics

  • whole food store is my safe haven :D

  • Workout to get ride of all toxins....... That is the answer

  • i have an explosive hair gel at home

  • WOW! Very stressful video........lol:o

  • who cares about your hair?

  • Really scary stuff, I turned out my bathroom cabinet months ago. I found Purepact on the internet it contains natural ingredients, expensive but it lasts longer.

  • oh lord, i havnt anything i can use for my hair now...

  • @thandiwe08 ,lol

  • Thanks for the info!

  • yeah the music is a bit dramatic, but quite informative. I am really striving for organic/Indian hair care products. Just a bit skeptical because not all hair products are created equal. Especially for "black hair"

  • goood!! that sucks so much, i have just bought some so called "natural" hair products, and now i see that they arent natural at all!!!!!....i spend so much money aaaah !!

  • thank u for sharing your information with the rest of us...some who know no more than the tip of their nose;for all of the doubters there have been extensive studies on a lot of things that we as the public no nothing about because it would cut into profits. that's what it's all about...making the most money with products made in the cheapest (not always the healthiest) possible way. mineral oil is a pore clogger, plain and simple, studies have shown this repeatedly yet it is still in products.

  • creepy intro music! lol

  • Very informative, but the music is just over the top! (Lol)

  • My head really started to itch when I looked at this vid. In the Netherlands there are many dermatologists who are specialized in allergies due to these products.

  • oh....the alkanes...

  • good information but foolishly presented, including the music

  • weird pictures much

  • What's the name of this song?

  • It's from the ballet "Romeo and Juliet" by Prokofiev.

  • Thank You!!=)

  • OMG!!!!!!!

  • what about fragrance?

  • I am a scientist and think that all these facts are to mislead people. they are not based on sound science and is one of thw way to add some more fear to our already scared society. this seems load to rubbish.

  • who cares if your a scientist! We don't need your "need more facts rubbish" you so called doctors/scientist have been burning up ppl with radiology, misdiagnosing patients, and causing cancer all in the name of sound science and facts for decades.

  • So true... doctors are quite incompetent nowadays, they just give you expensive medications that hurt more than they help.

  • I have to agree with you. While I prefer to use (so-called) natural products in my hair, I have never seen a study or proof that ingredients in products are bad for you (especially when it comes to petroleum and mineral oil). Only hearsay on the internet and magazine, etc. That's why I take it all (including 'natural' products) with a grain of salt. I say use what works for you, but don't make unsubstantiated claims.

  • I am sorry, but being a "scientist" gives you absolutely no merit. What type of scientist are you? You could be a rock scientist with absolutely no knowledge of organic chemistry. (I would think if you were an organic chemist you would say so rather than just a scientist.)

The fact that you didn't back up your statement with any type of valid counter argument for the usage of these products tells me you probably have no knowledge of what these substances do or where they come from.

  • Excellent, Excellent Video!!! Very informative!!! I'm glad that I decided to go au naturale....Take care:-)

  • Another great video! I look out for all of those ingredients now.

  • Paraffin is used to solidify products such as bath bars (they aren't even allowed to be called soap), and liner pencils. It can be a skin irritant and clogs the pores.

  • Very informative, we should also avoid parafin in products it is a beeswax substitute derived from petroleum. Also it is Colorless, distilled from coal, petroleum or shale oil. Makes cheap products and can cause skin irritations and eczema. Paraffin-- Derived from coal or petroleum, paraffin is a wax filler; the same kind of wax found in cheap candles.

  • Thanks for the info!

  • thx for the info!

  • This video is so dramatic. The music makes me feel as if I am watching Disney's Fantasia. Anyhow, it's very informative and I appreciate the info, as always.

  • thank you for this video... very, very helpful!

  • I wrote it down and looked, and everything in my house has this trash.... um, I hope my baby is fine. Girl, you scaring me! Im 8mos pregnant

  • Your baby will be fine! These chemicals are found in almost every product we use daily (even baby products) and I just want to people to be more conscious of what goes into their bodies. I believe we'd all be healthier if we didn't (unknowingly) pollute ourselves. But now you know!

  • Something i thought was VERY beneficial was a book that i bought from Barnes&Noble. It is basically a dictionary of chemicals used in everyday things from cosmetics to food. It is very scary, but knowledge is power! You would be making a great big step in protecting you and your child. Eating organic as much as possible (they even make organic baby food!!) is huge. It cost more, but isn't your health worth it? Contact me for more info, i can give you some great resources! Be blessed!

  • OMG that book sounds great, whats the name of it? Its hard to get organic food in Japan, I looked everywhere when i first got pregnant. This video was an eye opener. My baby is infact healthy but when she gets here, I want to continue to keep her safe:)

    Thanks MsBrice and Reshon:)

  • Thank you so much for this video. I would like for you to also give us a product review on hair products that are safe in the market for us to use because I read all my products ingredients after watching this video, to my surprise they all contain at least one of the things you've mentioned. I honestly don't know what to buy. Please help me and my daughter.

  • I use nothing but natural and organic hair, body, food and home care products. If you like, contact me and i could help you a little too. Take care!

  • @hadassah4 you can look up Aubrey Organics products. They have for body and hair. All natural

  • Great Video!!

  • great vid!!! i love the scary background music!

  • If this video does not scare people into using natural products, I do not know what will!! Excellent job!!!

  • Hey thanks for the video once again very informative, very cute! Lol at the clips of the scared people. The hairoine clip at the end was too cute!

  • What type of shampoos and conditioners should I use? I'm currently in the transitioning phase.

  • here are some good brands you might want to google: qhemet biologics and oyin handmade. Just go to the websites check out the products and take note of the natural ingredients. Oh a Najahface(just put that name in the search engine on youtube) has a book out called Mixed Up, its a natural hair product recipe book. There you will find really good natural ways to cleanse and condition you hair. HTH!

  • Thank you! I'll be sure to check it out.

  • you can check out your local organic or natural food store and look for all natural shampoos and conditioners. i use a shampoo from burt's bees...cost me about 7 dollars. check the ingredients of the bottles... because i noticed that some of the shampoos in the organic section of my store still had sodium laurel or laureth sulfate...this is a no no. not sure why they we're considered organic!

  • There is a book i found in Publix grocery store and they even had it at Barnes & Noble called "Gorgeously Green". It is great!!! It gives you 8 steps to going organic and it has everything in it about make-up, home care, your body, etc. Very Very informative (comes loaded with recipes, how to make stuff and websites you can order anything from and best of all it is natural and organic products!). There is so much out there that is bad, but there are so many things out there you can substitute.

  • I have noticed that too. Lots of the time i think a company considers their products to be organic just because they have like one or two things in the that are! I have been to stores where they have told me "Yeah these are organic." and i read the back and see they aren't or i see on the labels "Made With Organic Ingredients" which means nothing!

  • you can also make your own cleansers and conditioners using items like baking soda, water, apple cider vinegar...or coconut oil, coconut milk, olive oil, mayo etc...check out najahface and canadianlioness1 for how to's. msbrice also has a vid or 2 on some of this!

  • Thank you very much as well! Now, I just got to figure out where a natural food store is.

  • try checking the phone book under organic or natural, and look online...call around and see who sells all natural shampoo...also check out african shops if u have any in ur area!

  • Yeah, I will, I saw a natural hair salon the other day and I was soooo excited. I got to get back up there to check it out and see what they have to offer. Thank you very much, you have been extremely helpful!!!
