this is from 1982, the fanfare is a re-orchestrated version of the 1937-1946 fanfare and logo by James Horner (who composed the 1990-1996 universal themes). this logo looks better than todays!
this is one of my most favorite 1940s logo putting it in a 1982 movie thats pretty original, they dont used creativity like this anymore, i miss that :)
I find it funny that even the biggest-budgetted studios with their supercomputers and rendering tools can't seem to make a logo as awesome as this one.
Most 1982 Universal films (and all from the mid-'70s through the '80s) would normally use the zooming globe logo; Universal wanted this film to be "retro themed".
Who sped up the music with this? This doesn't sound like the original music with this Universal Logo. Will the one who posted this redo it and slow down the music to at least warp 2!
Have you seen this logo mimicked on Duck Dodgers? It's about the same. Not exactly. The biggest difference is it says a Duck Dodgers Picture. A different logo they design has a blue sky, the planet is not Earth, but planet "Hollywood" and that's what it says around it and the planet is blue and satellite dishes apparently make up the surface, until they show the ground under the satellite dishes.
Have you seen it in color? I saw it in green when I was 5. Until recently, I began to think it is really blue and I just always had the tint on my tv on the wrong end. But now on YouTube, I saw the cartoon I saw the logo in color on and still it's green. Maybe it's a coincidence.
They used the theme for Universal's Pay TV division when it first started in the 1970's.

That was originally used between 1937-1945, before being briefly used later as in this video.

One of my favourite Universal logos, along with the 1950s and 1970s ones.

This comes off a PAL TV broadcast, that's why it's sped up.

A color version was used in the intro of "The Sting" (1972), accompanied by Marvin Hamlisch playing Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer".

"Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" IS from 1982 because it's from the setting of the 1940s. That's why they used the classic 1937 logo.

yeah...now i understand...they wanted to keep the logo from the original version

@LogicSmash
You'd think MCA would put a byline or something below it.
