  • Gotta dig the way she makes the song her own.....

  • Her bloody wail at 3:13 is perfect. So full of anger, frustration, sadness... no one screams like Courtney Love

  • Can't someone just sing a song because they like it? Courtney can be independant and doesn't always have to be grouped with Kurt. She is a great musician in her own right and should not always be held up next to his body as a reason for all her musical inspiration. She was playing the music he got famous for long before he did.

  • Vu only sodl like ten thousand albums but every great artist owns a copy

  • @carolynrue you played with Hole?

  • MEANT TO BE, SHE WANTED PALE BLUE EYES,THATS WHAT SHE GOT! SHE DIDNT TRICK HIM ,THEY BOTH ROCKED, IN THERE OWN WAY, BEFORE THEY MET.

  • @BEERxxPiRATE Oh, that's not nice.

  • Courtney Love's voice is epic win, its so powerful and to me its wonderful, i love her so much and she is a influence and a rolemodel to me!!

  • @ba1dasshole It's obvious he killed himself. Very obvious.

  • @ba1dasshole Uh, I've read about it, and it's ridiculous. Get over it. Bye now.

  • dude, she killed it. this is awesome.

  • Amazing!!! :) :)

  • This beats the shit out of Patti Smith's cover.

  • Diggin this cover.

  • my huskie has pale blue eyes

  • NICE!!!!!!!

  • My boyfriend has pale blue eyes.(:

  • Very, very good cover. Raw, passionate. I'm a big Velvet Underground fan, and I can't deny that Courtney made it great.

  • I'm guessing this was late '91 at the Whiskey, that's the only time I ever played it live. Maybe they did it again later.

  • @carolynrue i know you, you R an ex Member of Hole

  • I fucking love this! So she kind of butchered it, but she did it tastefully! It's like she took her own fucked up creative licence. Brilliant!

  • Bloody hell, way to massacre a song! Liked Hole in the 90's though

  • @boustiflaki

I agree. They were good once. I could give two shits what she's thinking about singing this, what's coming out her gob is horrendous.

  • @FungusMossGnosis Then why are you listening to it/commenting on the video?

  • @JennRighter

Because I thought this was a democracy, and I thought this might be worth a listen (used to like Hole). Boy was I wrong!

  • @FungusMossGnosis I see. I didn't like anything Hole did after Live Through This but I do happen to like this cover. You're free to have your opinion, I just never understand why people seem to troll Youtube videos that they don't like.

And no, America is no Democracy. It's a Republic.

  • @JennRighter

I wasn't referring to America, but the internet. To say that only people who like a piece of music have the right to comment on it, and all others are subhuman "trolls" , is -at best- ridiculous. I would never go searching for what I dislike.

For the record, I'm not one of these people who always bitch about covers. I happen to like the Patti Smith version very much, among others.

    Not this one.

  • @FungusMossGnosis "Subhuman" is a little melodramatic and definitely not what I said. "Trolling" and "trolls" are internet slang for people who attempt to get a rise out of others by making negative comments on websites. For instance, liking a page about Obama and then criticizing him on that page or going to Youtube and searching Lady Gaga and then insulting her in the comments to get a rise out of her fans. That is what I was referring to, not as in literally trolls. And Democracy is a

  • @JennRighter

Maybe the person criticizing Obama has very valid points, and is not merely tying to "get a rise" out of others. It happens, and heaven and hell knows no one with power in Washington is beyond criticism for being a whore for big business.

I'm sure "trolling" is more common than criticism, but the two shouldn't be synonymous.

Whoever owns the website defines how free it is. I've been kicked off of several, regardless of their politics. People are afraid of honesty.

    Take care Jenn.

  • @FungusMossGnosis I was using the Obama analogy to define trolling...I don't think you understand the definition. It is to get a rise out of people. Obama was an example, just like Lady Gaga. If the intention is not to get a rise out of people, then it isn't trolling. Understand now? I wasn't making it about politics or music but trying to find examples to make it easy for you to understand. I'm questioning whether you're going to get it or not.

  • @JennRighter

I understood what the definition was all along. It's that I find the accusation of "troll" as overused and misused as the phrase "epic fail". It has very little value. Either a person is making a point to express thought or only to annoy. Best to ignore the annoying ones.

  • @FungusMossGnosis If you understood it, you sure didn't sound like you did! Pretty soon, I should probably take the advice in your last line.

  • @JennRighter

And here I thought I was being very cordial and indulgent to your pestering me over this nonsense. I guess you're only looking for someone to agree with you.

  • @FungusMossGnosis form of government. How the internet is "governed" so to speak really depends on what country you live in. You can comment on what you want, and people like myself can comment back. Whatever it is you would like to call that. So under your premise, I have every right to comment back on what you are saying, just as would occur in a Democracy.

  • @boustiflaki this song was originally released on the ask for it EP in 1995

  • Garbage version

  • My friend Carlos actually recorded this version. He was close to Courtney...can't remember how he met her, and then she introduced him to Kurt at some point....Kurt called him the most truthful journalist he had ever met. He wrote for Flipside under the name Cake back in the day.

  • she didn't write this for kurt (because it's a velvet underground cover) but she might have sung it for kurt

at least that's the feeling i get when i listen to this... according to the emotion in her voice and because she changed some of the lyrics

i love the original and i love this cover too... maybe i even like this cover more because of the screams when she sings linger oooooonnn your pale blue eyes!!!

  • i LOVE this version. it's so raw, and it breaks my heart. you can feel the rage and genuine sadness in her voice.

  • LIINGERRR ONNN, PALE BLUEE EYES!!! Damn, the original song carries such a vibe to me and her screams totally rips that. Oh man, COVERSSS!!!

  • cool cover - it rocks !

  • Good cover of a great LOU REED song.

  • powerful cover

  • quite talkin like you knew him douche bags

  • They say she performed this song at that old club "Cheers" the tv show was taped at.

  • that is cool how did u know i was a chic? u guys now stop being squirrley no need to be mean. i wish Kurt was just still around to see what he's missed all these years he wouldn't believe it.

  • hey i didn't know i'm sorry ...SILLY

  • @whittspits It's ok... I see what's to see...

  • VELVET UNDERGROUND

  • I thought of you as my pick, I thought of you as everything I had and I couldn't keep...I had but couldn't keep...

  • @singmeagrungelullaby

mountain top .....peak not pick silly!

  • @whittspits I am not a native English speaker, so it's a common thing to confuse the spelling of two words that sound the same in a language that's not my mother language. I see you americans and English people are very narrow minded and think everybody has to speak your language as if they were born in the USA. I hope you learn Chinese and you get insulted by chinese people for your lack of chinese knowledge. Imbécil.

  • shut the fuck up, you sensitive bitch. they're weren't even being rude... grow some balls and be a punk!

  • @toribjork10 You know, you are right about something, she hasn't been half as rude as you have...so called super mega big and unsensitive punk wow I'm impressed by your super punk hardness! Grow up and be a man, get a live ;)

  • idiots !! the song isn't talking about KURT COBAINS EYES !!!

Just cuz he had beautiful blue eyes don't mean that this song is about him

Go check your facts b4 stating ..

  • @rockangel7777 this is why this song is so cool. NOBODY has pale blue eyes.

  • Exactly it isn't even her song.

  • Does anyone know where i can download this song? its amazing!!

  • @joecigarette it's on 'Ask for it' album

  • Cheers- just downloading it now lol.

  • this is an awful cover of a brilliant song

  • The fact that you are insane only proves that you're my best friend

  • the color of kurt cobain's eyes is completely irrelevant because this song was written by lou reed in 1969.

  • @PujolJunkie try 1968

  • @PujolJunkie lol

  • "the fact that you're insane only proves that you're my best friend. well I will never fuck anyone else again",.. love that lone.. love everything about this song... can any one else hear when courtneys almost crying?

  • Yeah, Nice change on the real lyrics "The fact that you are married, Only proves that you're my best friend

But it's truly, truly a sin."

  • this is 8th grade all over again. best hole performance ever, totally making up for everything that came after live through this

  • wow i've just heard the original and i must say i like this cover much better...it's not even acover it's a completely new song you might say that it was inspired by the original but it's completely new and so talanted .....i mean no one can say that courtney's not talanted after this remake

  • Patti Smith does it best.

  • I wish there was a studio version of this.

  • youre not the only one

  • Me toooo!!

  • Best cover. Better than REM, better than Emmylou Harris.

  • I think it's the best version period. :-)

  • Hmmm, now you've made me watch this side by side with the original, I'm almost agreeing, but not quite. Love has an amazing energy tho.

  • kurt had pale blue eyes

  • Kurt's eye's were not pale. They were bright... and beautiful. ;)

  • the color was a very light blue and they were beautiful:D

  • BRIGHT blue, not very light....not pale, BRIGHT.

  • they were light and pale. u saying they are bright is just showing how much u dont know about him. no offence.

i love, absolutely love kurt cobain. but his eyes are not bright blue. light and pale

  • I've been staring at Kurt's eyes on my walls for about 17 years. I've probably been listening to and loving NIrvana and supporting Tom Grant's investigation for more then half of my life. Some might have said that for many years I was "obsessed"... I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about when I talk about his eyes.

But I digress. I'm not going to argue with a teeny bopper. Google is your friend. Google images. At least we can agree they were beautiful and leave it at that.

  • well yeah u do obviously know more then i do about him because ur older then me. but i dont know how you describe eyes bright. only because that would remind me of his eyes being glossy thats why i disagreed

  • When you look at Kurts face, his eyes pop. They're deep blue, bright, not glossy. That's not what I meant. My husband has pale or light blue eyes. They're almost grey. Kurt's eyes were very blue. Pale means light. A couple of my kids have eyes that are bright blue like Kurt's. I use the comparison because my husband has pale blue eyes - pale meaning light, not glossy. ;) It's all good.

  • He killed himself. Accept it.

  • how can you be so sure about it?

  • He was a heroin addict, he was in a lot of emotional turmoil at the time, he was probably going to leave Courtney and he HATED divorce. He was in a heroin induced stupor and he thought it would be better to be dead then alive and decided to kill himself. He might have even decided it before he killed himself. Courtney is crazy enough, but not THAT crazy.

  • still there are too much unknown, weird things about his death, and i dont think this is the right place to talk about it. my bad i asked

  • this is the best song I've heard, for me is better than the original

  • YeaHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    the velvet underground

    original is so great

  • I love this song!

Seemed like I could never find it anywhere what a thing you tube. I love YouTUBE always seem to find my kinda music

  • kickass-- thanks!

  • pretty cool...always wanted to hear the whole song

  • GREATTT
