Now I have the album, this song has grown strong on me and it is VERY easily a single and I completely take back my below comment. While likely their least pleasing album since their pre-album work (before 1984), the whole album is growing stronger with repeated listens (& beats Stevie Nicks's latest one to Bangles'n'mash). Especially strong is Debbi's 'Ball'n'Chain' & the closing track. Michael's absence will retain an unfortunate stain of discontent over any proceedings without her though.
@TheMjblades "Sweetheart of the Sun" isn't an album I instantly took to heart like I instantly loved"Everything" and "Doll Revolution", but I find it's definitely growing on me, too! But I miss Michael's harmonies and bass playing, all the same.
@luv24real God we're alike! 'Everything' happens to be their masterpiece-including 'What I Meant To Say' which I always play as part of the album & high time this fine album was remastered & out WITH this song too-'Doll Revolution' instant aswell, but yes, I played "Sweetheart Of The Sun" today again and is such a grower-in fact I'd now tag it alongside all albums apart from "Everything"-the ultimate best. Am loving the album loads-but yes, Michael's absence remains a blow to us all.
The sound is as sharp and pretty as ever. I also appreciate the subject matter--people don't write enough songs about this kind of thing. I just Micheal Steele was still with them. Maybe sometime in the future...
They just continue to release the Susanna ones-whatever the decade, always a (generally male) arsehole label telling them what to do. This sounds even LESS a single then 'I Will Take Care Of You' from their last full album as a complete unit! That one was the only non-single sounding thing from 'Doll Revolution' album-typical! Loved your comment about this something Eileen Twain would sing-yes that's never good. Is this an official single then? I thought 'Anna Lee' was.
Can't say I like this one of the newies much,it's too country. Shania Twain could sing this, and that's never good. It's great to see the girls back, but they should be rocking a bit harder like on "Under A Cloud". It's nice, but in the wallpapery way,not in the jazz way.
@jthies03 sort of like Chrstine McVie in Fleetwood Mac. I am going to see the Bangles here in Chicago in a couple weeks, and I hope it doesn't feel "empty" like it did when I saw Fleetwood Mac without Christine. *crossing my fingers*
@Daburcor All we need now is a 16 track Studer and a 60's decade C24...bugger it, I'll settle for a live performer that can actually sound good....without the Antares software.
she didn't loose her voice. Very nice!

I never be through with you!!!, Susanna!!!
Congratulation on the new single
Very good
Your voice has "grown" a lot; - reminds me of your Jewis "sister" Ofra Haza's voice, that got better by her age....

I like how the arrangement is just basic and stripped down and highlights their great vocals.

I like this one, especially since I was 16/17 when I bought their big CD. The ladies are looking a lot better than I am after so many years.
