If you think Beach House's cover lacks feeling, think about it in a different light (whoa, a cover). Perhaps it is meant to evoke different feelings reflected only in the first verse... a steady and swollen, lasting pain and the beauty in letting it be. Johnston's evokes more of agonizing and enveloping depression that quietly eats away at the soul. I love both versions.

i really like beach house but this is a bad cover. it lacks all the heart of the original. beach house is dreamy and ethereal. daniel johnston is raw and painfully real. total opposites. that's why this doesn't work; beach doesn't step outside of their sound to play a song that requires them to.

I love Daniel Johnston and Beach House...when this cd came out I was pleasantly surprised by how good they did with it. If you are a Daniel Johnston fan, you should respect such a great cover as this...considering not a lot of people cover him very well.
