@ItsMrTony well, it all depends. If your gift is in a package (like a ups box or bag) I would tape it, or it it has a plastic wrapping, it won't matter. It also depends on the quality of tape. Many types of tape won't leave residue or pull of color from a box if you are careful. If you really don't want to do this then pull one side over, hold then then the other side and tape it.

for wrapping presents, i do 1 of 3 things:

1. wrap normally

2. Put small christmas presents (like hair ties) and put it in a oversized box (like a oven sized box) then wrap the box

3. Wrap a present, then wrap it again, and again, and again till you have like 20 layers of wrapping paper.

Contrary to what you think, this is not the right way to wrap a present. When wrapping the back, bring the paper to the edge of the box and pinch the edge, fold it under and then tape it. This way when the package is wrapped, there will be no seam showing at all.
