Why in the heck are people on about accents? I think the actors are great unfortunately they are not able to come up with their optimal performances as they are delivering the dialogues in English, if they were speaking in Hindi it would be a real treat. There are certain mannerisms in speech that should reflect the characters emotions. This is lacking here because the emotions of the words don't flow well when the actors are delivering the dialogues in English
@sloppyviewer I agree completely, all of the dialogue just sounds forced to me. I can't help thinking the movie would have been MILES better if it were in Hindi. Which is sad, because the story looks good, too :/.
Listen A hole....the day u can talk to me in my language and in my accent, that is the day u will earn the right to criticize me for speeking english the way i do...get that
i think western imperialists who think that there's a "global" accent is commiting the cardinal sin of culture hegemony - by only recognising that there's a dominant "accent" - American or British. Dude, there's a Canadian accent, French accent, Italian accent, Indian accent. Make an effort to heterogenize yourself for heaven's sake.
Wow i think some people really need to mingle with different people and maybe watch more foreign movies. It should be easier to understand for a native from a english speaker country than me, who is a french native !!! I do love indian languages but seems like lot of people forget that english is one of a national language of india and their accent is just like all accents, all is a question of flexibility and if we speak all in same way life will be so boring !!! Plus here we have subtitles. :)
There's not just American English other than, you know, English English from England. Just as the Americans from different non-English speaking countries in Europe have made their own accent, other countries too have their own accents for English. English is one of the national language/official languages of India anyway.
for all those who wanna criticise their accent or watever...they are indian people born and bred in their own land and so many of them have mastered the english language....so wat if its with an accent... how many of those in UK,US AUS have mastered the indian language?
yes it does sound forced, the same movie in hindi would have a greater impact. I don't know what it is with indian people messing up their on language.
and by the way, india has one of the largest population, therefore duh there's bound to be a large percentage of anything compared to the rest of the world.
and yeah go on the roads and talk in english and people give you a look like your from mars.
@sloppyviewer You probably have the wrong info then. We Indians work for American/British/Australian companies and we have put sincere efforts in learning their accents and the global accent too. So Mr/Miss we very well speak in your accent and we're proud to say so. Can you say the same about OUR language HIndi? I doubt you know anything about it. Get a life!!
@prajakta2921 I suggest you re-read my comment. I have not mentioned anything to do with accents . I suggest you read my comment and understand what I said before replying. I'm merely suggesting my opinion that this/movie would have sounded more genuine & possibly had a greater impact if it was in Hindi. There are certain mannerisms that that Indian actors have that seem to jive well only in Hindi or an Indian language. so what r u on about about you speaking in an Brit, American accent??
haha.. please. i suspect english spoken in any accent other than those of north america, the uk and australia sounds forced to you. there are more english speakers in india than in those countries, many of whom think in english. much like indian literature in english, in film it has a distinctive voice that derives from experience that you might not associate with the english language, but is very real nevertheless. also, these movies reach out to diverse audiences across india.

Yeah ,c'mon these kinda films are like sitting in your neighborhood park and listening to people complain about others.Besodes why an English title and why are they speaking in that 'PUKEY' accent?when will u guys learn that indian accent is 'minfuckin'?
Well among the scenes there are many i like. specially the first scene of amitabh meeting rampal. or when amitabh just call a guy waiting in front of his house to clear his curiosity abt his where abouts. the shakespearan dramatic way of asking question by him in that scene was just great. or also may be the shot where amitabh is pleading to rampal for the last shot. or even the last scene. how many i will say.
jeez man English is an official language for India and we can speak it with our own accents....
